- MPGomatic.com puts a 2011 Ford Transit Connect to work over a week-long test drive. [ Full Review: www.mpgomatic.c... ]
We rolled up over 400 miles in our Transit Connect XLT Premium Wagon. The 2.0-liter inline four cylinder Duratech engine produces 136 horsepower (HP) and 128 foot pounds of torque.
The only options were a rear view camera ($470) and reverse sensing system ($280)
MSRP was $23,200. Options, destination and delivery brought the total to $24,015.00.
MPGomatic produces car reviews videos with a unique focus on gas mileage, in-cabin technology, and driveability. Yep, we're the folks that shoot those 0-60 MPH tests.

Cool! Many thanks for the feedback and best of luck with your new truck ... may she serve you faithfully for years on end. :)
im actually watching this review for research, unlike usual, when i watch your reviews for entertainment.
This vehicle is essentially designed for those who run a small business. Now, if you don't have the luxury to get a big truck or van; this'll do.
Many thanks, Brandon ... it's all good!
Just a quick thanks. Your review helped convince me that the Transit Connect was the right vehicle for my business.
@ihategeneralmotors Thanks for the kind words and support! :)
Btw there is a TurboDiesel version with smaller displacement but more torque in EU,not sure about US.
Nippy is good! :) Ford just announced a diesel for the new Transit. Fingers crossed the revolution will continue and the 1.8 TDCi will be the next to find its way across the pond.
the concept is nice, like the features, mpg, seating, cargo, and all but i just cant see myself driving one of these. i mean i love the car but u get the point.
Very nice alternative to the Sprinter. That turbo diesel option if it existed would make this a pretty fun drive as far as cargo haulers go. I'd need that since a 130-140hp goes through a life and death struggle on steeper inclines where I live lol.
Great review, and massively impressive van! 28MPG!
Yea when its empty. Watch the figure plummet when its loaded up
@colpitts350 that the european key
I bet the cargo version will get even better mpg because there are no rear seats
I know a guy that drives one as his daily driver/family car. The guy is very strange-looking and looks very funny driving it.
Great european specs van, that's what we have here in europe too, aswell with huge Transits that also have the 2.0 engine, kind of slow 0-60 but i don't care.
The small 2.0 with the FWD offers great economy and makes you jealous no RWD,what else can i say? They are just too great and pretty!!!
Although Ford could put one of their 2.0 Turbo engines on it and make it a little bit more eager to breath when you touch the acceleration pedal.
the headlights and grille look like theyre off the older fusions
I wasn't sure about this vehicle at first but i think it would be great delivery van in urban where high speed and acceleration aren't a huge issue.(A hybrid version would make this an absolute winner in that segment.)
Also 2:37 needs to be a gif.
how can i fix my camera reverse?? i just see the green screen
love manuals. you get the most out of these little engines, and pretty much get the best mileage out of the. no one nowadays wants to learn to drive manual sadly :"(.
2:36 is why I subscribed to this channel
Dan, so are you not doing reviews of every car you 0-60 now?
Can't wait for you to get a Scion iQ Dan.
Is there a 7 passenger option? If not it's not a minivan competitor :(
@jschmitz23 That's POWERTRAIN. Not power terrain.
No use buying this car for passengers, unless you are the tallest person in the world lol
it looks like it could use a couple more cogs, that 1st and 2nd gear seem to go forever.
Why don't they offer that with a 43MPG diesel?
This type of cars is very popular in europe.
Even Mercedes offers in EU one like that.
28 Mpg Hy Diesel Would Get About 35 Mpg ?
@talldude123 Where has Chevy been getting bad review on any models released in the lats 3-4 years? The Camaro, Cruze, Sonic, Regal, LaCrosse, and the Volt among others are all highly praised cars. The LaCrosse is still considered a rather viable option to the Lexus ES, and when it was first release nearly 3 years ago it simply smashed it in comparisons.
This fuel economy would be much better if you remove those heavy rear seats
@talldude123 Price yes.... quality.... sometimes. Hyundai has already started to fumble in initial quality tests and reliability. Also their FE is overstated, most people never see anywhere close to 40 MPG on the highway in their Elantras, and the Sonata Hybrid is a waste of money, you get FE just as good in the GLS model.
What a strange way to open the hood, reminds me of an 88 caprice trunk...
3:06 Affordable ? Ford ask 27000 Canadian $ for the base , no windows TC ... and you got to add the tax , destination charge , etc . Lot of money for an empty box made in Turkey with an allredy amortize mechanical . There only canada post fool enough to pay that ...but it's with our taxs ...
look nice, ready for transport
@bg1379 The aim is still a full review of every vehicle that rolls in the driveway. I have a backlog of tape on the desk. Post-production takes a significant amount of time and it's been snowballing ... I should have the Charger and Optima out next.
@ynkno13 Final Cut.
LOL
@ Dan ....www.mpgomatic.com...... Thank you for all your reviews...you helped in making this choice, I just bought a new " left-over" 2013 Connect after reading & viewing all I could find......It's a very useful tool, easy to load & a blast to drive.....TM
Glad to be of assistance, Tom Menzel ... enjoy that TC! :)
No it's for the plain jane one .No side & rear window .
is that tin foil?
- US needs the diesel - petrol autos are crap
