I have the A7iv and a Tamron 28-200mm attached. This past weekend I did some photography like this with my friends riding, one of which is on a race team. But we were on the roads. Speeds were, well not legal, but not track speeds. I think the lens performed really well all things considered and I feel that any IQ issues I had were my fault be it settings or technique. I just got the camera a few weeks ago so I'm still learning it, coming from Nikon. I was using AF-C with Tracking: Spot S. I'm wondering if Spot: S or Wide might be better? Don't get me wrong, I got some great shots, but the biggest issue I found was focus and lack thereof. I ended up stopping down to f/12 to get better focus at the cost of depth of field. Any tips? Pretty please with sugar on top?
question, your 1/50 shots are you focusing on the spot on track waiting for them to hit it, or are you following the bike within the square and then hitting the shutter button?
I thoroughly enjoyed this video and absolutely loved the images you made. Brilliant! I also want to make such POV videos of my shoots. can you please give some tips ?
Thank you for this!! I used your last video and took awesome shots at my track day last weekend, and today you come with this gift! haha thank you again!
No need to thank me man ✌️Just love making content and so happy people enjoy it! Appreciate the kind words! Hope to see some of your work on the # be great to see! 🔥
@@CurtisPadley I too would like to thank you! I took similar shots like your McLaren MP4/1 picture you edited, but I always fell short on the editing bit in Lightroom. Thank you so much for showing what you can do with adding just a little light source! Never thought of that.
At 2:27 why do you put up the shutterspeed that high (1/1250), when there is no fast motion in picture? Additionally you have to put up your ISO at 320? Why not turn it down to 1/320 or 1/400 and lower the ISO? Anyways cool shots mate!
Hi mate awesome video. What is your advise if doing garage pics like you was doing. With a6400. noticed you had fast shutter speed and aperture 2.8 highish iso? Cheers paul
Incredible video, keep up the good work. Also what focus mode are you using, mainly for the panning shots? I also have a a7iv and want to get into motorsport photography.
Hi Curtis, did you have a chance to try and shoot bikes coming towards you with the a7iv? Does the AF keep up when shooting burst on High/High+? My a7iii cant handle it so thinking about upgrading to the a7iv. Thank you! ✌🏼
There my Secrets 😉haha nah I've done a video on panning photography in the past, that might be helpful! 😁 I would include this in my motorosport photography tutorial when I get around to film it!✌️🔥
Decent advice and cool panning pics. Hard to hear you in first half of vid. Strap go-pro on one of the drivers would make for stunning footage. Next time??
Thanks mate, bit difficult to anything with audio when you have loud engines all around 😂 wear headphones might help! See if I can get a gopro on a rider next time! 🤙
@@cstone710 Sure, ISO 100 is cleaner, but the Sony A7IV has superb ISO performance one of the best I've seen on a Mirrorless camera thus far. What you mention about the shadows is true, but even so if I needed to lift the shadows in post you would have to be pixel peeping to notice anything of the sort and when it comes to printing ISO 320 wouldn't do much to quality and honestly you wouldn't notice. Now if I was shooting at ISO 3200 I'd understand your views and be in agreement, but dude relax it's ISO 320, the photography in my opinion and it seems others, was top notch which is awesome to hear, so yes I could have used ISO 100 am I gonna lose sleep that I used ISO 320, no. ✌️🤷♂️
Yeah because I'm shooting at F1.4 that Apeture lets in a lot of light so you have to come compensate with bumping the shutter, I could have brought down the ISO, but it was a fast paced environment and didn't have any effect on the final images
@@CurtisPadley certainly will once mastered it a bit more 😅 tips for panning will be awesome though thanks. Next time you do a car shoot, a tips for rollers vid would be awesome 👌. Shame they don't do the events at Olivers Mount anymore, some great spots there to get some panning shots and doesn't get closer than on your doorstep 🤣
Love your channel. What is your hit rate on fast moving subjects when shooting at such low shutter speeds 1/30-1/50 (i.e. how often are you obtaining a mostly sharp image)? I’m finding it a bit challenging to shoot fast moving go karts and I have to wonder if it’s my distance to the subjects which is making it tougher to shoot anything below 1/160. Do you set OSS to mode 2 on the 70-200gmii (my favourite lens too!) What about in-body stabilization? On or off?
Deserve everything that's coming to you my guy seriously talented, keep that work rate up.. let's do London this winter night shoots..
Thanks mate, really appreciate it!! Absolutely let's make it happen this year! 🎄🔥
Absolutely love this perspective, so cool seeing it from a POV, some nice lenses, camera too and those shots were 🔥
The shot at 07:56 is sooo good. Bike is sharp, and the rest is creamy smooth with nice lines.
Thanks bro! Defo has to be one of my favourite panning shots I've done! 🔥

Great vid. Have to say the Sony 70-200 GMII is something else compared to most other lenses, love it.
I didn't even realise this was released today, I've been watching your videos after finding the channel recently awesome content man love every vid!
Thanks man! 🤙
love it.. great shots mate.
This was beyond dope. Good job, my man. Thanks for also sharing the settings!
Bro!!! @8:00 all 3 sharp. Dope shot
I couldn't believe I got all three in focus!! The odds of that feel so low! 🔥🔥
Sick POV and shots!!!
Great video. Great track. Nailed it. 👍
Ayyy legend thanks Steve!
Those shots tho😍😍😍 reminds me of post malone - motley crew 🔥🔥
Yooo thanks bro! 🔥🤙
I reallyyyyy love the shots mate! Those bikes 😍
Thanks mate! They are absolutely stunning right! ❤️🔥
well done man these shots are superb
Amazing work! How low of a shutter speed can you get and on average how many sharp images do you get with 1/50 ? 😊
I see a Conrods ad! I'm from the exact area they started :D

Hello Dude...
how about photo panning tips with sharp quality like that 07:56 - 08:05 ?
Thx before.
Such an underrated photographer in RUclips...

Ayy thanks dude! 🤙
Great video. What focus mode did you find worked best? Ty
Hi mate awesome video. What is your advise if doing garage pics like you was doing. With a6400. noticed you had fast shutter speed and aperture 2.8 highish iso? Cheers paul
this combo is perfect..., Sony A7IV and Sony 70-200 f/.2.8 II, at the same or lower price than a SONY A1 camera!
Couldn't agree more mate! A killer combo! 🔥
Incredible video, keep up the good work. Also what focus mode are you using, mainly for the panning shots? I also have a a7iv and want to get into motorsport photography.
Out of interest, What autofocus setting do you use for the panning please?
Ey dude! Do you always shoot with ND filters on? Great videos! New subscriber here!
May I ask.. what's the best focus mode/area for panning shots on Sony?
Hi Curtis, did you have a chance to try and shoot bikes coming towards you with the a7iv?
Does the AF keep up when shooting burst on High/High+?
My a7iii cant handle it so thinking about upgrading to the a7iv.
Thank you! ✌🏼
For panning, are you using electronic or mechanical shutter?
Hey mate I just got an a7iii and Sony 70-200f4 just wondering what focus area you find best for most reliable focus? Wide or Zone?
I just brought your presets they are sick. what ones form the ultimate pack did you use for these photos?
💜👍💜👍great photos......💜💜👍👍👍 just seen few of my photos I post in resent... I newish to photography still got lots to learn👍
Thanks mate! Best advice for you just shoot as much as you can and practice practice practice! Hope to see more of your work on the # 🤙
No advice on how to pull off those wicked panning shots?
There my Secrets 😉haha nah I've done a video on panning photography in the past, that might be helpful! 😁 I would include this in my motorosport photography tutorial when I get around to film it!✌️🔥

What a great video. I was cheering in the same spots you were 😂 we would work well together.
This is my dream after my 85mm
hi, what kind of preset did you use for bike shots at the beginning ?
Ty mate
One question, why use your cámara like a phone? Much better with the viewfinder, more control!!
What Focus mode do you use for the race shots?
what do you use HDD or SSD??? and i'm happy to hear your recommend of it!
SSD mate! 🔥
Awesome video Curtis, love the panning shots I can never do panning shots of motor vehicles, I’ll have to work on that 😅😅
Ayy thanks mate! You'll get a lot of failed results but a few good ones and when they are good they are dope! 🔥✌️
@@CurtisPadley yeah will have to try again and test it out.
Curious why you shot the wide shots at the beginning at iso 320 when there was enough light for iso 100 on all of them.
It's a fast paced environment get the shots that's what matter. Was quality lost due to ISO 320, nah so it's chill, that's my mindset
@@CurtisPadley Sure quality was lost. ISO 320 isnt as clean as iso 100 especially when printing and recovering shadows.
@@cstone710 Sure, ISO 100 is cleaner, but the Sony A7IV has superb ISO performance one of the best I've seen on a Mirrorless camera thus far. Is there a particular reason you bumped up the shutter speed so much after you change to the 85mm 1.4? Some were taken at 1/4000th !!

What's a screen protector? 😏😉
THE PHOTO AT 4:27 GODDAMNNNNNNNNNN NOW THAT IS FUCKING KILLER
Ayyy thanks dude! 🔥
