This was a tough one! Loads of effort for one photo but it was worth it ! I know the audio isn’t that great in this video at times but I don’t re do my videos they’re raw and unscripted. I like to keep them that way. ❤
Wow so well deserved mate, that passion paid off, so glad you got the shot you went for. Respect 🤝
As a former Endurance Motorsport photographer I can relate to this so much. Hours of planning and framing, getting the settings right, failing a bunch of times until you take that 1 photo that you just KNOW is the one you've been out there for. Watching this video brought me back to those moments and put a smile of joy and pride back on my face.
Thank you for this story and congrats on that absolute epic shot. 1 in a million, but it's registered for life!
This photo is so epic. You ignored the rules, broke the common strategies, and took a unique shot from a unique location. Your persistence prevailed, nice work. I could totally see that vertical crop at 6:44 being an F1 video game cover or magazine cover.
this is incredible!! and the story behind it is so beautiful especially with your dad and the struggle just makes it that much more special 🙌🏽
Thank you ❤
Wow, to come out with a shot like that makes it all worthwhile. Incredible effort and dedication to persevere and get that one shot. I'm at Oulton Park tomorrow and while I won't get a shot like that, I'll definitely be doing some planning shots.
This photo deserves a large framed print. Congrats!
Fair play, that's an unreal shot and I know first hand how difficult it is to track 200mph cars on long exposures. You nailed this one bud👏
Your smile made me grin as you revealed the shot. Looks like a great gift framed for Fathers day ;)
Its trully inspiring. Amazing shot. Hamulton should be gifted to have this shot in his portfolio and in his lounge
That's absolutely gorgeous!! Stress and pain that was well worth it!! 🎉
Great stuff man, videos like this are a lot of fun when you're pushing the limits of what can be done creatively
Great story behind the shot. I'm sorting through 4,000 shots from a hillclimb event. Same as you I was shooting really slow shutter speeds, with resulting failure rates. But then I come across a sharp car amongst all the smears and it's all worthwhile! Persistence and backing yourself gets the unique images.
Amazing video , but I’ve got to mention that the motion blur has clearly been done in the edit? Has nobody picked up on that? Correct me if I’m wrong though. No hate, still loved watching the story behind it and impressive nonetheless. Keep it up
No its in camera blur. Panning shot with slow shutter speed + fast car far away and if you have luck you get similar shot.
@@piotrbaranowski1 I understand how panning shots work. But take a look at the wheels. With that much blur on the surroundings the wheels would at least have gone a full rotation during the duration of the shutter, yet there is a gap in the yellow accent. The front and back of the car are always going to be very slightly blurry especially at longer shutter speeds as the perspective of the car is changing as you pan. This is going to be more apparent on wide shots but there is always going to be a bit of distortion which is not seen here.
THANK YOU! I thought I was the only one noticing! I'd love to see the RAW image in comparison. No hate, just genuinely interested
@@loganjohnston6651 if you look close the car is not pin sharp and from that distance blur front vs rear is minimal. Tires yellow stripes can be "cut" by the fence closer to camera, maybe thats the illusion of faster shutter or maybe he faked it im not sure. Quality is low on YT. More story than foto itself.
@@piotrbaranowski1 At 6:19 you can see some more real shots where the motion blur is less blurry and more imperfect. I think it is really quite obvious that his final shot is not real. It’s also a bit suspicious that he’s not showed the RAW like he usually does.
I went to Baku last week and took some crisp shots at 1/100 70-105mm mainly. The key isn’t really just about the exposure time only but also your focal length which you didn’t mention. If you are at the roof, it should be more difficult or you need a lot more luck
You should come over to Perth and take some photos of the Quokkas, you’ll get some nice shots
It’s on my list ❤
Wow. Now that’s a once in a lifetime picture! And that would make for one beautiful poster.
I did‘t know you are into F1 that deep, I love to hear it! That shot you should 100% print it and hang it somewhere!
Being a photographer for F1 you normally have to go though an agency and have valid press credentials. There is nothing better than being track side taking photos of fast sports cars. Great Photo !
Hey man, nice video! I was inside the event over the weekend with my sister and we joked about people watching from the random rooftops to take photos so it feels full circle that someone was the whole time. I was trying to shoot 1/40th a bit earlier up the straight and felt I was somewhat struggling at that lower speed so to see a 1/25th is super impressive.
What a BANGER! Photography is not just about capturing what's in front of you, it's about facing the challenges that come with it and finding the beauty within them.
Looks like you dealt with a lot of frustration before nailing that one. Now you're ready to try wildlife:).
When passion is awarded. Bravo for your détermination and for the great shot.
Hi enjoyed the video but I have a question. If F1 is a passion then why did you not just but tickets in advance and plan the shoot? Not trying to be obtuse but genuinely interested. Thanks
6:27 - that's one incredible shot by far !!!!!! Congrats! 🏁 🏁 🏁
that's a sick shot. amazing planning and working around the situation
Great Video, even better picture. To hear the emotion in your voice after getting the picture is so inspiring.
5:19 someone on a high rise roof behind you throwing a baby.
Thats a framed piece of art for sure! DAMN... So proud of you homie
Truly amazing so worth all that work for that one epic shot!! I’ve managed to just get a practice ticket for f1, can’t wait to try panning shots on faster cars!!
Nice shoot man. I had spare seats on both the Thursday and Friday, I was sitting high up in the fangio stand.
The beautiful thing about photography is everyone is on their own personal treasure hunt - someone may have the same or similar shot, but it’s not YOUR shot. Thanks for sharing the story behind your photo!
Ross
You have shown
us the greatest photography lesson of them all, put in the work! well done sir.
I was shooting indycar at 1/125 of a second next to the track and I thought that was hard, props to you for shooting at 1/25
It's more than a great shot... You nailed it! 💜
Hey, the version of the photo we see here is compressed by youtube, the moving patterns in the background when you show the picture dont help with that... Is there any place i can view this picture in its full fidelity? thanks!
Really enjoyed the content mate! I love the "keep going and keep trying" message as it really is something we should all try and do more. Often we give up at the first difficulties or whenever a challenge is presented we tend to assume it can't be done and there's no point in trying. And not only you said this, but you also demonstrated this with an example you experienced first hand - whereas you could have simply not done any video on F1 just cause you didn't get a ticket. Nothing in life will always work out the way we planned it, but it's important to always give it a shot!
Thank you so much 🙏 really means a lot !
That is an awesome shot! Well done on your perseverance. I remember going to the first Adelaide F1 GP in 1985, and I actually walked all over the track and asked the stand marshalls whether I could go up to all the Gold seating and other level stands and take shots from hundreds of different vantage points, even the VIP areas. So lucky they let me do that because in later years security was tightened considerably and you couldn't go outside of your designated ticket area. If you never try, you never get the opportunity. I got shots of Ayrton Senna blasting past me from only a few feet away. Sadly, my photo album of all my shots was lost in a move years ago - Ah, the sad old days of non-digital photography! :)
No pain no gain - that’s a gain . You love your craft and your craft is your passion.
Epic! Your story of this shot made me emotional. Love this kind of content.
👏 Solid shot. Feels good when they pay off like that. Congrats.
Man shout out to you for the sheer effort of riding a train for 10 hours just for the POSSIBILTY of shooting the event. Kudos
Absolutely stunning, love the shot. Great seeing how you worked through the problems. Really inspiring. Well done.
Quick tip: when you were showing the magic shot. You had this rapidly moving noise pattern on the background. This disturbs the RUclips compression algorithm and renders the photo full of artifacts. Next time, you're better off showing a slow evolving wave pattern or something. Or better yet: nothing at all. That way it becomes a multi frame still that RUclips can interpret as one image by recycling all pixel data over all frames.
This is actually very helpful to know. Thank you for letting me know 🙏
Enjoy and understand the journeys you send yourself on. That's what I just learned. Thanks bro. What a fantastic shot and what great advertising for that shot. Looking fwd to the next impossibility.
You'd have thought a car park that close to the circuit would have been packed with cars on race day!
Honestly, same! It was pretty empty 😂
Very nice shot! The way you timed it, took brains.
I need tht shot man!!! Its the best F1 shot ive seen
So cool! Great video and presentation. That shot is amazing! I'm really itching to try shooting F1 in the next couple seasons or so. Hope my Nikon Z8 is up to the challenge 🦾
Dang! 1/22 is hard AF even for bicycles.
For me it was easier to get the panning shot at that speed if I use a monopod. Now I use it for every pan.
That's one hell of a shot mate!
Wow that’s an amazing capture Sam! Absolutely beautiful! Well done! 😎✌️
Awesome work mate, didn't realise you were in Melbourne that weekend. Shame you couldn't get into F1 but maybe next year you can sort something out. Awesome to see the images you got.
this shot needs to be in every profile backround of mercedes or at least a post by them
I have seen many F1 shots- This one is spectacular
Great shot and great lesson on perseverance and attitude!!!
What an amazing boost of positivity! Wonderful shot
Stunning shot. Well played sir 👏
I remember I once saw a video about a person who claimed to have taken an impossible shot, they'd start babbling about how they the photo was taken and it was mostly "I was able to get this shot because my camera is expensive".
Now, this photo definitely deserves such a title of it being imposible. It's not impossible because the camera you took it with is impossibly expensive, it's impossible because it requires real skills, patience, vision and HARD work to pull it off, yet the only requirement is a camera.
Mad respect to you and the masterwork you pulled off!
Ha, “impossible” is so loosely used nowadays only to show its possible
That shot is NUTS!!!
A worthy contender for the World Sports Photography Awards!
absolute banger of a shot!!!
Amazing man, I’m away to silverstone in July for the F1. Cannot wait
Never use the word luck mate - it's all a combination of skill applied during an opportunity. Congrats on the photo - it's stunning. :)
That is absolutely nuts. Well done!
Such a cool story man! It's a such a satisfying thing when there's such a journey to the final image. Congrats!
Great shot! 📸
as ex-motorsports photographer also, firstly well done. Then im wondering where your monopod was? panning that low and distance is the reason so many came out the way they did. Every little minute shake shows... my best pan to date was 1/8th in low light conditions. but nothing compared to how hard yours was.
Epic. Thanks for sharing and inspiring 🤙🏼
I've gotten one of those of a Porsche GT3 car, it comes down to luck, out of 1000 pictures, at LEAST one is going to come out clear if you're at least somewhat close every time
Fantastic shot and process! Inspirational for sure, I love panning but when you isolate and challenge yourself it then overcome and accomplish your vision, thats the moment to shoot for, great stuff! Thanks for sharing!❤🎉
No idea how you managed to do it handheld on 200mm 1/25. Some proper ibis and lens stabilization in the game.
Kudos! Great photo. It has to be a huge format print 🎉
Honestly the S5ii has godly powers when it comes to stability! It’s actually incredible!
Your colors are really nice, what LUTS do you use?
A great shot as always you pulled it off well done you, why did you use the Lumix ( i use lumix) and not your faithful Sony?
I actually don’t have a 70-200mm for my Sony at the moment but luckily had a 70-200 on loan for the lumix.
Top-tier content as always. And that shot is amazing
That was a really crazy shot.. ur dedication is off the chart
Congrats mate. Well done and persevered
What an amazing shot. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
What camera settings did you use for the photos you got?
Gratulations. Outstanding!🤘
Thank you for the dedication to your craft! That was an AMAZING shot! You've got another sub!!!
Absolutely epic! Super jealous, I've never been an F1 race, last one in South Africa was 1993 and I was still in school.
The shot is probably sick, but YT compression slashed it :(.
Tried to see it on your instagram, but there is only some video story (however it's called) so no way to see it in its glory :(.
I need this as my wallpaper!
Camera settings???? Specifically shutter speed!
1/2000 or 1/3000 to freeze, panning 1/1000 or 1/2000
congrats!! this is so sick 👏🔥
The photo turned out sick, well done !!!!
beatiful photos Optical.
...LEGENDARY...
I don't know how you did it, but that is a great shot.
That’s what it’s all about dude. Great job!
that is amazing photo and the story is unbelievable. It proofs that if you really want it you can get it!!!!!
This must be the hardest work you’ve ever done.
did you use manual focus or auto I've tried this before with F4 at Silverstone but didn't get any good shots?
I used manual focus, pulled focus on the track where the cars would be. I was at f20 with no nd filter.
is the photo anywhere available as a wallpaper or print?
That is a superb shot. Well done!!
Congrats! A lesson learned of resilience and determination! Brilliant! Cheers
What a shot
Hats off for the effort 🙌🙌.. the Impossible photo was just epic.🔥🔥🔥🔥
Incredible photo, mate!
Incredible shot mate, stunning stuff
