  • In the heart of Thailand, Venerable Bhikkhuni Dhammananda's arama serves as a beacon of compassion. With nine novices and fully ordained bhikkhunis, their impact extends far beyond the temple walls.
Social engagement takes center stage. The bhikkhunis embark on meaningful visits to prisons, bringing solace to 3500 inmates, including 700 women. The power of their presence, coupled with practical teachings, offers hope and a sense of purpose to those confined.
Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the bhikkhunis rose to the occasion. Recognizing the plight of daily wage earners during lockdown, they open their gates, distributing essential supplies with care. A simple act of scooping rice turns into a symbol of solidarity, resonating widely on social media.
The kindness doesn't go unnoticed. A man moved by Venerable Dhammananda's gesture donates 500 kilos of rice, sparking a community-driven effort. In ten consecutive weeks, the arama provides sustenance to the region, with one supporter contributing over 10,000 kilos of rice.
The ripple effect is evident. This small arama showcases the profound impact of localized, compassionate efforts. Venerable Dhammananda envisions a network of aramas collectively caring for their communities, emphasizing the transformative potential of such gestures in challenging times.
