still gives me chills seeing this,i was brought up with Shaamit's sire the late great Mtoto whom my father looked after so we were on Shaamit from the previous Oct after his maiden win. He was a brilliant Derby winner on the day you only have to wstch this video to see his turn of foot. It was a shame he was retired as a 3 year old as he would have been an awesome 4 year old. Also remember he sired a Classic winner in Bollin Eric before his untimely death
I followed Mtoto, backed him plenty of times including his 2 Eclipse wins & Arc attempt. Respect to your father, it must have been a wonderful experience to be involved with a top class horse.
Shantou went on to win that year's St Leger. Alex Greaves became the first female jockey to ride in the Derby. Hayley Turner in recent times followed suit.
Here is what bothers me Starkey is branded a villain for dancing brave yet won on Shirley heights yet eddery is classed as a legend and his rides on 3 derby runners up have been shocking including this one

@@steveo7165 Mtoto had regular foot issues missed much of his 3 year old season missing races like the Derby his sire Busted had similar troubles
I lead up Zaforum in this race we only had a dozen horses we took on the big boys !

What on earth was eddery doing? Did he fall asleep during the race, gave the horse an absolute mountain to climb. Unlucky

I agree I think Starkey gets too much blame for Dancing Brave but Dushyantor is never travelling here;.
Eddery was a legend starkey wasnt in the same league clearly you know nothing about racing

The second got pinched back on more than one occasion, hated going downhill and round the bend.
Went mad as had a 20 quid win bet on that at the time

And rightly so, TBF. The difference is, Starkey got a legend beaten in The Brave. Dushyantor was no Brave.
