  • Got the Del-ton Sierra 316L “Budget” or “entry” rifle. I can safely describe it as a high end “budget” rifle! It ran flawlessly on its first 300 rounds shooting both brass & steel cased ammo. I can see that budget does not mean low quality. Are there better AR’s out there? Of course. But for this price point, it’s beyond fantastic and good if not excellent quality. Please like, share & sub! Thank you for watching!!! Nothing beats a cold glass of water on a hot day!
    Optic and Pmag were not included. It does come with one steel mag.
    Thanks for watching Desert Tactical! 🇺🇸

      illmatic826 Yes. Definitely! If you are looking for some nice flip up sights that simply work and are well made, go with the Feyachi flip up sights. Around $28 for the pair. Although there are tons of options i.e Magpul MBUS if you want to go that route and spend more for plastic flip ups. (Dont get me wrong they are also good) for an optic? I highly recommend the Holosun 510 or the Primary Arms advanced 30mm red dot with cantilever mount. You would chose 1/3 or absolute co-witness depending on your preference if running back up sights. If you want to go less pricey I do have other good options for ya on optics.

      When the bolt locks back after the last round, and once you’ve inserted a full mag, you can either pull the charging handle and release or use the bolt release to send the bolt home thus chambering a round.

    Old timer at the shop today told me he wouldn't shoot steel in any of his arS

    • @DesertTactical
      @DesertTactical  4 года назад +1

      Partially yes. Also for testing on this particular rifle. Its an on-going discussion whether to shoot steel cased ammo or not. I did a fair amount of research on this rifle and it has proven to run well with any ammo. At least mine does. Barrel degradation? I'm sure! but that takes thousands and thousands of rounds. Even with brass. By the time I get there, I most likely got tons fun range time and even then, a barrel replacement is not overly expensive. There is always the option to simply get another rifle. This is my 3rd AR and after only a few rounds, the one I like the most. I really appreciate you watching and your input!

      Well wolf .223 is in high supply and cheap
      Does it jam up more with steel ?

    • @DesertTactical
      @DesertTactical  4 года назад +1

      Masters Champ it hasnt jammed at all. With brass or steel. But I have seen spent steel casings get stuck in the chamber. This could be due to a weak extractor. The extractor claw just bends the casings lip thus failing to eject. It’s the a common problem with steel cased ammo. Also most common with Tulammo. For some reason, I have noticed that. Wolf is a more consistent load. I refuse to shoot Tulammo from my rifles. I only shoot wolf, barnaul or brown bear polymer coated NOT lacquer coated casing. Thats another one right there than can... key word can, create malfunctions.

      That’s absolutely awesome! Good to know! Yeah, mine is working well. Just have had 2 stuck casings (separate occasions) in the chamber but I punched em out with a cleaning rod. I replaced the extractor spring with a BCM spring. To help with this. But overall its been good. I have a bunch of wolf polyformance .223 55gr ammo. I’ll try tula and see how that works. It’s been known that tula ammo is inconsistent but I’ll give it a try! Thank you for stopping by!

    Just curious about it's accuracy, grouping?

    • @DesertTactical
      @DesertTactical  4 года назад

      With my little knowledge on hand and how much I’ve shot it, I can confirm that it is accurate. The free float rail does its part. Now, granted that it is not a chrome lined barrel ( I know, bummer) it can definitely get you some solid hits and groupings. Of course, the shooter plays a big part in this and there are a few factors that also play a part. So standing, Not benched, focused and controlled breathing, I can get groups under 4” at 100yds. Not impressive, I know, but solid hits on a 12” steel target. On the move, transitions, reloads and during tacticool drills I can still hit that 12” steel at 100yds. Not impressive either but shots are on target. Benched, focused trigger pulls and controlled breathing, I can get 2” groups. I know I can close it up a bit more especially if I use brass cased 62gr ammo. But have no 62gr at the moment. It’s a 1/7 twist which is more accurate with 62gr rather than 55gr. This is just my rough research and testing. In no way am I an expert. Optic used: Primary Arms SLX 30mm 2MOA dot.
      Hope this helped or answered your question. I’m still learning as I go.
