At the Indian Chamber of Commerce's centenary celebration in Kolkata, Narayana Murthy urged the youth to work hard to elevate India's global standing.

Good about working hours. What about keeping 10 to 15 percent of client billing and paying 85 to 90 percent to employees
Talk to your end client. Replace Infosys with a consultancy owned by our Andhra friends. They only take 20 % commission from client dollars. Murthy should be taught a lesson. It is high time hard working Indians get their due. Clients are more than happy to absorb you full time as well into their payroll.
Just imagine, a place like Bengaluru where people loose 2-3hrs in traffic each day. Even if Chinese work longer, there also have so much better infrastructure to facilitate that. Why can't Mr. Narayana Murthy ask for focus on areas that can enhance Indian's productivity rather than blaming employees !.

Please call your client in USA and do a direct deal. Tell them they can pay 10 % less than what they paid to Infosys to any telugu reddy who has a green card and a staffing agency. And then offer 20 % commission to that reddy. With this model you can get a bare minimum of 80 dollars per hour to your pocket and so if you work for 40 hours per week your monthly salary will be 12 lacs rupees instead of 25 thousand rupees that murthy is giving you. If you work 70 hours your salary will double to 24 lacs per month. Murthy will not increase your salary by even one rupee

Productivity stems from appropriate compensation. So the simple solution is to pay the competent person worth their time invested, responsible for your organizational growth.
He is the person who said youth should work for the country 70 Hrs/ week, while the same old owl was against moonlighting last year when it was trending. He was also against casual attire in work place & WFH model. -Prof Abdul Kalam visited Infosys Mysore campus & during inauguration of meet, National Anthem was played in instrumental mode on murthy order, when asked by journalists about it, he said "There were lot of foreigners in meet & they would have felt "embarrassed" by our Anthem & language".

Mr Murthy, Chinese PCI is 3x that of Indians, if you pay same to Indians then you will get good skilled workforce and will get good productivity.

What Mr Narayana Murty or other Great Leaders of Indian industry should know is that whatever productivity level they may be aiming at, attempts to achieve the same should simultaneously ensure PROTECTION AND FURTHERANCE OF THE FAMILY SYSTEM. I want to put a different perspective. Instead of making a person work 70 hrs make it a 35 hr work week and reduce the salary by 50% and employ 2 persons instead of just 1. His idea will make existing employees resign or die of overwork and ensure many stay jobless as existing guys will be asked to do more work instead of appointing a new person. By having a 35 hr work week people can build a second career and gain financial independence. He stole the first project from the company that employed him. He should stop talking about ethics. The policies of the corporates like Infosys won't let their mid and senior people become entrepreneurs. I will put more than 70 hrs of my effort week on week if I am the owner but not for a company owned by a person like him. I like being in India more than being in a prosperous China. He indirectly means India need not be a democracy. Freedom is more important than respect, prosperity etc. Only the business owners that are slave drivers will support him. I am more afraid of him becoming the President of our country. He will do enough damage to reduce the life expectancy of underpreviledged youngsters by 5-10 years. If he is more concerned about India let his son, daughter and family members work for 70 hours a week in India. Better to be unemployed than die of overwork. His ideas will make the rich richer, workers become slaves, unemployed stay jobless, women quiting their career and people become zombies while alive. Has any worm or amoeba started eating his brain? These cannot be acheived with freebies .
Top management should realize or know the difference between screen-time related work and non screen-time related work. Narayan Murthy ji or all top management are more aligned with non screen time related work like driving meetings, decision making, attending events, business travel etc. So this type of work can be extended and add more number of hours and it’s alright with respect to mental and physical health.
But in my personal view, I think screen-time related work and physically intensive work should not exceed more than 6 to 7 hours per day.
Because inevitably people have to use mobiles / screens for their personal use as needed and will have to be physically active as well, and on top of it, if screen time related work in office also goes beyond 8 hours it may have mental and physical health impact in the long run and in-fact it actually reduces productivity. It’s not about work life balance. It’s about working smarter and efficient, not harder or adding more hours.

In India the surrounding &climatic conditions are different and can't compare with developed countries. But still I agree with Narayan Murthy's explanation. If we work hard, we can grow and country will develop. Unfortunately Indians in India don't workthat hard. I work in a construction firm, basically a unskilled labour working time is 9 to 6. So if they work any extra hour they are paid extra per hour basis. But a skilled employee even if he working for a minimal salary is expected to work for 12hrs without any extra benefit for him. Where is the logic i would like to work those extra hours for some NGO rather a companies owned by this selfish bastards. If we work extra these bastards make money and keep it in other countries which doesnt help our country .

If I am correct, he does not involved to develop or setup the science and technology based company such as semiconductor or memory device industry. The model of China is successful because the government is serious about it's ambition and identifies talent at young age, give them opportunities & the space to grow while taking care of their basic needs of families. That's how innovation is identified & nurtured.
We neither have that long term thinking nor patience. Also the inflation & salary hikes don't make any sense. Added to that the heavy taxing of private employees with little to no basic facilities, how do you expect people to innovate & excel while many such things run in our mind?
