Thanks for sharing this. I just did the water pump on my cruze and I noticed that there was air trapped in the top of the radiator. Open the white plug on the passenger size radiator tank with the engine off and the coolant cap open. You can hear the air escape. Then you can see the coolant drip out of that connection. Air in the coolant will cause the system to run hot causing additional wear and tear on the gaskets or crack the plastic pieces.
Thanks! I wish I had seen this plug would have mentioned it too. Just pulled mine and air also escaped! Now it should be fully bled. Thanks for watching and the tip!
@@jungleking007Channel do I need to drain the coolant or can I just skip that my Cruze is currently in Walmart Peking lot and don’t wanna tow it tomorrow
Just I big thanks, I change my today and your video help me so much it took me 6 hrs because I run into some problems but I did it, I'm 50 yrs old and never work on my car before.
Excellent video. ONLY thing not mentioned is that you MUST AIR bleed the radiator with the WHITE hex plug on top of the radiator thats on the passenger side in the front. Its tucked under the cover and you can use a philllips head screw driver or a 13 mm socket. Also run the heater through a few cycles to clear any air bubbles trapped in the heater core. Besides that AWESOME video. Thank you again.
Good video, informative. fore warning: had the identical slow leak on my 2012 with 90k mi. Being a gm tech for over 40 yrs I assumed the same part on the leak. after replacing it - it still leaked! Found the real issue was simply the large hose clamp on the gooseneck had insufficient clamp load. Could of saved some money & grief by simply using a pressure tester to begin with. 20/20 hindsight never fails.
I’d replaced two of these on my wife’s 1.4l cruze, due to the the summer temps destroying plastic components in the southwest US and then by the third time, I got an aluminium one that had clearly used the plastic version to make the mold and then had it’s sealing faces machined later. Thank you so much for this video. It really helped me a lot in repairing my 16 Cruze 100k. There were pieces that were eroded but very easy to replace following this video. Thanks again.
Hi there. I am going to replace mine soon, so your video is really helpful! One comment: at 1:58 I can see that you inlet turbo hose (the one with the PH3 written on top) is quite dirty. Well, I had the same problem (there is boost leak there as well), so I removed my bumper and I removed this hose and replaced the rubber o-ring that's placed inside. In case you are interested, the dimensions are 56mm x 3.5mm. I have 20k km and no sign of oil there yet. Thank you for the pcv fix video also!
Great video. I just replaced mine yesterday and my Cruz has 46,000 miles. The garage down the street wanted 458.81 to fix it. My back is a little sore but it only cost me 22 bucks. Now I would like to take my old water housing assembly to that shop and stick it up his u know where.
I'm a Chrysler so I understand it can be expensive. The repair is relatively simple. Its outrageous they wanted that much. Should've been like 150 plus parts. Shouldn't charge more than an hour.
I’ve come to realize that the reason why these break and leak. Most of the guys in these oil change garages tend to lean on these exact parts when changing the oil filter. If you notice, under these parts being replaced in this vid, you can see the oil filter cap and nut. Well, since there’s not much room to changed the oil filter, these guys start pushing over the coolant hoses and the plastic housing and dont realize that their fracturing it. To much much push and shoving over these coolant parts can cause cracks and leaks and also on the uppers hose coming from the reserve tank. So now, when I go have my oil changed, I warn them about that are and to take it easy.
I have precisely the same problem on my 2013 1.4 turbo Cruze. Thanks for posting this video. I stopped watching a little past halfway, since "installation is the reverse of removal", as they say in most manuals. Changing one on a 2012 that someone used screw on clamps. The plastic appeared to have expanded at a different rate than the clamp could causing a perfect straight crack under the clamp. The original clamps would expand and contract by design as the motor heats and cools. FYI

You do know that you don't have to take those constant tension clamps completely off the hoses right? You just pinch them and they open up then you can wiggle the hose off.
For us that are car part challenged, could you name the parts? I have a squirting leaking coming from the tube starting at 7:00 and I can’t find the name of it to replace it

@@1320Buick455 I was close, sorry. There's so many crazy part names, it's hard to remember..thanks. what happened to the good old days...sb-chevy has 2 bolts for the water neck and 4 bolts for the water pump, 2 bolts for the starter and 2 for alternator, 4 for the carb. I believe there is a crack between the two hoses at the top of the outlet on my cruze, because I can see coolant there. And, when I turn on the heat, I smell smoke, can it be from the burning coolant? Thanks for the video!
@@mizhanivui4576 it can make the gasket deteriorate and that will cause damage to the thermostat. Also over time the gasket will wear out on it's own and then you'll need a replacement. check your sensors, theres one that clips right into the engine and its only in there by a little o ring gasket and a small clip you pull upward. its a ten dollar sensor, replace that one and the one on the passenger side radiator with a clip. also ten dollars. id check those first
Special Coverage Adjustment - Engine Coolant Leak from the Water Pump. I had a coolant leak before not sure where but it was covered under this warranty and now I have a leak pinhole spraying out the top of the water outlet. Idk of it's covered or not but I'm going to take it in and check
I replaced my expansion hose 13251447, and the fitting that plugs into the fixture on the block that has the larger o-ring leaks (yes its a new o-ring and the same ID & OD of the old one). Whats wrong?
Thanks for the video. Can I skip emptying the coolant through that tap below the car? If I skip that part, then I guess when unclamping the hoses I will face with some coolant pouring out. Is there any problem with it?
Take the turbo heatshield off.. Just behind it, facing the RAD, there is the eng block/turbo drain plug! If U can park downhill it is even better (drain from the bottom of the eng block). Refresh the DEATHcool adding new (or the $ame U drained) OR flush with soft water and fill with G12+(plus) as a replacement(non-us). It is cheap, widely available & compatible. My 0.02$

Omg these cars are such junk! My mom purchased one used. Thought she got a good deal on it with less than 40k on the odo. Boy oh boy, I’m sick of working on it 🤢
Does anyone have a good diagram of the coolant system with all the parts, hoses, etc labeled? I find it hard to order parts when I am not sure what every piece is called.
just go to autozone they can pull up a schematic
You are amazing! Ty! Now I can replace this part confidently.
What was the part called I know that’s what’s leaking hoping to get part before I work on it
I'm pretty sure it's called "WATER OUTLET VALVE ", I'm doing same on my mom's Cruz, good luck
Engine Coolant Water Outlet
@@1320Buick455 I was close, sorry. There's so many crazy part names, it's hard to remember..thanks. what happened to the good old days...sb-chevy has 2 bolts for the water neck and 4 bolts for the water pump, 2 bolts for the starter and 2 for alternator, 4 for the carb. You could reach every spark plug...
@@timburns1643 For sure!
Info in the video description.
Do you know what the part is called at 19:10 in the video? It's the piece that the inlet hose goes into on the water outlet with the metal clip that comes out. Can I just buy that part and if so, where?
Advance autoparts
Thank you bro. I got stranded & it’s crazy cz this video is exactly what I needed. I won’t forget about you once I win the lottery lol
Did you win ?
@@SOMETECHTUTORIALS hahah not yet but I haven’t forgotten about you
@@whatshisface1390 oh okay how many miles did your Cruze last ?
@@SOMETECHTUTORIALS man this car is a real piece of junk. I purchased it with 30k miles & it now has 97k & I’ve put $3,500 into the cooling system. I fixed the issue that lead me to this video just to have it overheat on me months later again from elsewhere. I’ve had it back from the mechanic for approximately 6 months & the check engine light came on last night. It runs well for a few months & then it’s onto the next problem.
What that coolant part called at 5:00 ?
Will this cause it from bubbling from reservoir and boiling to the point where pressure builds up I replaced the water pump and thermostat also
I believe there is a crack between the two hoses at the top of the outlet on my cruze, because I can see coolant there.
And, when I turn on the heat, I smell smoke, can it be from the burning coolant? Thanks for the video!
Check your fluids every weekend. I missed a couple weekends and now I'm dealing with this as well
Does low coolant make that part melt or what?
@@mizhanivui4576 it can make the gasket deteriorate and that will cause damage to the thermostat. Also over time the gasket will wear out on it's own and then you'll need a replacement. If you dont replace it than it can leak and cause you engine to overheat and after you chang the thermostat get a new oil change asap.
Hey hope you can help me i cant get that clip to go in onthat last top hose with thos lil rings still on
Any luck
Is there 2 o rings? 1 for the upper hose and 1 that sits inside the outlet groove itself?
I’m have bought a new gasket replaced it and i took it to the mechanic he changed the thermostat piece but i still smell a burning smell .. and i feel the coolant goes down but not quickly.. everytime i turn on the car i smell the burning smell no one can fix my problem and i have no clue what to do please anyone have an idea whats going? Lmk please . My car is chevy cruze LT 2013
check your sensors, theres one that clips right into the engine and its only in there by a little o ring gasket and a small clip you pull upward. its a ten dollar sensor, replace that one and the one on the passenger side radiator with a clip. also ten dollars. id check those first
Great video. I immediately ordered a pair of hose clamp pliers lol
Special Coverage Adjustment - Engine Coolant Leak from the Water Pump.
I had a coolant leak before not sure where but it was covered under this warranty and now I have a leak pinhole spraying out the top of the water outlet. Idk of it's covered or not but I'm going to take it in and check
Awesome video brotherman!! Hey quick question what's the name of the hose @ 16:05 you're connecting
Just notice water leaking from where the waterpump is on my 2014 chev sonic. Whst might be the problem. Will check in the morning
There is an air bleed screw on the top of the radiator. It is the highest point. Looks like a large white plastic phillips head.
What size is the hose that you used to help drain the coolant? I kno u dont need it, but better than coolant shooting everywhere
It was a random bit of hose I had lying around, think it might be 3/8"ID? Not sure though.
5/16
Awesome. Thank you for your time and sharing with us. much needed
Coolant will pour out of the engine block if not drained. Better to drain before then clean up a bigger mess during.
Take the turbo heatshield off.. Just behind it, facing the RAD, there is the eng block/turbo drain plug!
If U can park downhill it is even better (drain from the bottom of the eng block).
Refresh the DEATHcool adding new (or the $ame U drained) OR flush with soft water and fill with
G12+(plus) as a replacement(non-us). It is cheap, widely available & compatible. My 0.02$
I am having leakage in the section you just replaced, but what is that particular parts called? Your video was eye opening
Good job Bro. I'm changing mine in the morning.
can somebody tell me the name of that piece i have the same problem with my chevy cruz and i need to replace that piece too can someone tell me the name please i would appreciate thank you. and by the way thank you for your video it really help put a finger on that particular problem of mine
Water outlet valve
Video description has part number and name.
Jungle King! Thanks for the helpful video. I replaced the water outlet pipe and a radiator hose on my 2014 Cruze today, she’s running great for now 🤘🏼 appreciate it!
Hi. Verry good job.😊 Can you tellme how to the torg of screew. Thanks😊
Do you know if a leak in the water outlet is covered under the special warranty? I have a visible pinhole spraying out of the plastic on the water outlet right next to where the top hose connects
believe it may only cover the water pump. Recommend contacting the dealership or manufacturer directly to find out.
Very helpful! Thanks a lot!!! 😎
Mine actually cracked. A bit fiddly to replace, but not expensive.
