Had to change upper radiator hose on my mom's 2011 Chevy Cruze. No life, so I took off the front bumper off just to put on hose to the radiator. Few inches to work with. 40 minutes of agony!
Can you explain to me why Chevy Cruze needs a heater circuit to open the thermostat? Other cars don't need a heater circuit in the thermostat to open the thermostat. What is so special about the Cruze that necessitates the heater circuit? It is because of the turbo? The heater circuit is pulse width modulated so I imagine there is some type of closed-loop feedback mechanism happening where there is a desired engine coolant temperature and an actual coolant temperature and the duty cycle is increased or decreased in an attempt to get actual coolant temperature to the desired range.
Why use inverted torx bolts on a water pump instead of regular bolts? Sometimes i watch repair videos of other car lines and it makes me acknowledge the design quality of the dealership cars i work on.

Good guide but you skipped mentioning that two of the bolts on the water pump are also Torque to Yield and need to be replaced, torqued to 71nm then a further 30 degree angle.
I agree with the upper hose being the biggest pain in the butt. We pulled driver wheel and fender liner. I layer under the car with a helper from the top to guide tool. What a crock. When it's working it's working good but that is far and few between. Once you get any sort of leak it is my recommendation to replace every hose and pump associated with the cooling system. Pro tip/change oil feed line to turbo every 50k. It's a short hose and it's only $30. It will save your turbo. They get caked up and reduce oil flow to cool turbo. And don't tell me all the extra steps are necessary because I have brought my car to the mechanics lot of times in my life and 90% of the times they messed up my car worse than it was to begin with. Actually a torque+angle spec does not indicate a fastener is torque to yield at all! Torque to yield is an engineering design specification. You simply cannot tell if a fastener will be yield based on the torque spec alone. You need to consider the size, length and material grade as well to determine if it will indeed be stressed into the yield region of the material. In this case it looks like a long stretchy M10 bolt and at 45 ft lbs + 60 deg, I would need to see some math to prove it is TTY.

all you have to do is not go right next to the one you just did, go across the pump from the last bolt you tightened, similar to tightening wheel lugs. doesnt have to be a specific way as long as you dont just go around the perimeter in order.

Dude why didn’t you show the bolt pattern to the water pump
I come here looking for that exact thing. I'm watching the video just to confirm. ( long/short and pattern )
all you have to do is not go right next to the one you just did, go across the pump from the last bolt you tightened, similar to tightening wheel lugs. doesnt have to be a specific way as long as you dont just go around the perimeter in order.
Google how do I test the water pump on a Holden troops
I am buying a brand new water pump and thermostat me and my good close homeboy are going to work on my car together wish me luck.🧰👨🔧🔨🛠🔧
Wow what a poor design and complicated repair. Heard these cars are atrocious. I would never buy any GM product other then their older trucks from early 2000s, or 1990s.
Nicholas R yeah I don’t think the quality is the same. I would buy the new C8 Corvette though.
Squeeze clamps are trash, completely ruins the hoses over time.
1.4L? Same size as my lawnmowers engine. lol
