Best series yet! Borneo is a wonderful place! I will be interested to see how you pack for Europe, I've travelled extensively through Southeast Asia and was able to travel with very little but am going to Europe and the Middle East in Feb for about 5 wks , don't know how to pack for cold weather!!!! Any thoughts?
Big thumbs up on the retrospective, it was cool. That crag rock climb still stands out to me as being something that’s just incredible and truly unique.
Out of curiosity; You do the exchange rate to American dollar, but has been living in Japan for quite some time. So, do you do the conversion to yen first to have an idea of how expensive something is, or are still on the dollar mentality? And when you go back to the states, do you find things to be more expensive than what you remember things to be?
It's all a bit of a haze when we are outside of Japan or The States. Usually we are spending money from our American account when abroad so we do things based on the US dollar, but when we want to talk about the costs of things in front of someone when bartering we use Japanese and tend to talk in yen then. It's confusing. And yea, things in The States are more expensive than they were when we left, basically back in 2009. But it's been a long time, haha. -E
Watching this video on new year's eve 2019 here in Canada🇨🇦 Born and raised in Kota Kinabalu🇲🇾 I'm glad you guys had a great time and enjoyed the trip. Love your videos. Happy new year 2020. Stay safe ✌️
@@kydeanderic ..yeah I can see that. Do come again when the travel restrictions are over, cos you are missing a lot .From the mountain to the forest, beaches & islands, Sabah has it all.
Love the travel videos ❤️❤️❤️ where in Europe are you visiting??? Come to Scotland loads mountains and castles and history to explore and then travel south down to London and maybe if you have time to Ireland
What a great series! I really enjoyed this. As for Europe I hope you get to see Keukenhof garden in Netherlands when the flowers are in bloom in the spring. On a Japan note I hope you get a chance to visit Hakodate and the southern part of Hokkaido around Onuma koen, etc. before you leave Japan for good. It's easily accessible by shinkansen now thankfully.
Thanks guys to keep on sharing your adventures with us. Just left cold and rainy Europe a couple days ago for a bicycle tour in southern Japan. The weather here is much better right now. Still struggling with jetlag tough but there's nothing better than watching your videos while suffering from insomnia. I would like to recommend some destination for your trip to Europe but there are just too many which comes in my mind and it also depends on the seasons. So maybe I wait until you finally telling us where you go and when. Enjoy your planing for the big tour !!
This was a good series! I love learning about all of these different countries from you POV. I'm sad to see it end, but also extremely excited to see your European videos! I would love for you to get the chance to check out Ukraine. My grandparents were from there, and the food is absolutely delicious! I've also heard that the bathhouse of Hungary (Budapest) are amazing too!
1) Another great video. Sad this series is over. Really enjoyed these. Never knew Borneo was such an interesting place. Totally have added Brunei and KK to my "Hopefully maybe one day" travel list. Yes Brunei is small . Sabah is my hometown and I always miss it, You might not see any other tourist because they are in the jungle doing rafting/ kayaking or. Hiking .
Aww the last Borneo video! Was this your first encounter with congee? (The white rice porridge.) You got the plain version, but usually it is cooked with a broth, typically chicken, and other savory stuff is added, like minced pork, or slices of barbequed red pork (char sieu), or some roast duck or chicken, green onions, sesame oil, chopped peanuts, shiitake mushrooms and mixed in. (I think you have also eaten it in Hong Kong since this video was filmed.) I really liked the retrospective wrap up at the end too. I am interested in seeing the packing video, and I can't wait to see your European vacation! Thanks!
It's basically just a texture base that you add any kinda flavor you like. I make a version at home with lemon, chicken, and mint and it's really good. It's one of the more ubiquitous foods in China.
I do think it was the first time we actually ate congee. You are right, we had it in Hong Kong too, with slightly more understanding of what we were eating. By the way, just posted the packing video! -E
Rewatching old videos.Laddoo is a sweetmeat containing cashews etc. Idly is usually best had with the white coconut chutney and sambhar (lentil/daal), it's Eric safe - no fishy business!
When you go to Europe make sure that you visit Lithuania. It is my dream travel destination, and it is the first place I'd go when I get the chance to go to Europe (partially because it's off most tourists' radar). Really enjoyed your Borneo videos, loads of fun to watch. (edit) whats up with the scar on Kydes right eye brow? or ist just some filler pen or something, i know nothing about that as im a dude.
LOL always like the food explorations with Kyde ready to eat anything Kyde totally rocking that short haircut still!! Year of the chicken should mean many more sound effects from Kyde Vaginal snacks WTF and sour mild flavor - Kyde is killing with these analogies LOL busted a gut on that "tasting" segment Kyde's new girl band name is "Dangerous Spice" Kyde swimming in crab drippings was hilarious Eric is now the high priest of Cloud 9; hopefully he got the check off on that from the chocolate guy in the pagoda!
The snack that you ate at the observatory is what we call 'lidah buaya', direct translation will be 'crocodile's tongue' cause it look like tongue though crocs doesn't have tongue. Anyway, the coating is actually icing sugar and some people will add milk powder to make it more creamy, it like it more with the milk powder~
You can start in Porto, spend 2 to 3 days there, rent a car or motorbike, and ride south, to Aveiro (1 day), Coimbra (1 or 2 days), Leiria and surroundings (Batalha) (1 day), and then Lisbon, Sintra and Cascais (3 or 4 days). Our hostels here are one of the best in Europe, you can get a double room for 35€, renting a car is reasonably cheap and you can make a full meal for 6€. If you are interested I can give you some further tips.
Kyde and Eric To spike your curiosity, we have a chapel made entirely of human bones (Évora), and if you visit the Med School of the University of Lisbon, you can see the preserved head of our first serial killer. XD As I said, if you plan to visit Portugal, after you make your own plan, if you want some tips to complement your journey here, you can ask. E- I'm still waiting for a hitchhiking series through Japanese South. Keep up with the good work.
i see that you hit right on most of the interesting places. i found it new and informative even for me who live here. Glad you guys like KK and Sabah. hope you come again especially travel to other parts of borneo island and make more videos. :)
🇨🇭 Switzerland! Sure, it's a bit expensive but also up to the hype. 1. Try to get to the tiny village of Gimmelwald (not to be confused with Grindlewald). Its is at once remote yet very accessible. Quite literally looks like what you see in postcards. Shoutout to Rick Steve's Europe show. 2. Look for a chocolate snack called Snax - the raisin and cornflake version was my favorite. Made by Milka, only the best chocolate in the world. 3. I'd skip Jungfraujoch (an uphill train ride to the peak, almost all inside a mountain) - a very famous thing to do. Yeah, it was cool but to me it felt a bit like paying tons of money to see the view from the top of a skyscraper, which I don't place a high premium on but YMMV. 4. Take a boat ride from Interlaken to Thun (or vice versa) - the views, oh the views. This was anti-Jungfraujoch, so to speak. Way more bang, for not much buck. These will make a lot more sense when you're in the area. And I'm sure there are videos about these things if anyone is interested.
Hi Kyde and Eric, always love your vids. Looking forward to watching you guys in Europe. When can we expect to see the Europe vids? I recommend visiting Paris, Florence, Venice & Switzerland.

But we'll see, we are trying to come up with ways to get things out faster. It's tough though to keep a steady stream of long form videos coming. -E
I've been watching your videos for a few months now.....I really enjoy your candor, humor and willingness to take risks. After a long day at my job...the depressing news these days...you're videos are a much appreciated escape...thank you.
Oh and no, I couldn't wait for my lateshift tonight to watch it. I just watched it from the cosy couch at home 😊And I am very looking forward to see see my Europe through your eyes ☺. I already mentioned to visit Prague, Rotterdam and the Eksternsteine in Germany. But also the classics like Paris or Barcelona are gourgious. You propably love the fish market in Barcelona, Kyde. Gaudi made so wonderfull things there. My homeland Holland is a wondefull place. In the Biesbosch you can rent a motorboat and just explore the nature there. Cologne is a very interesting city. Kopenhagen also! Our favorite Island in Germany is Borkum and you can bike there without any hills, but you can do that too in the whole Netherlands 😁 I am very exited to see what you will go and see. Lots of love from Radevormwald Germany.
Kyde and Eric yeah, just a small one but you can. The biesbosch is a protected airea with little canals you can sail through. Seek for Drimmelen and there is a rental. There is a risk that you reach the bottom but the boats can manage 😊
Hi guys, cool video! Me and my wife would be happy to host you in Vienna if you come around. You gave us some good tips for our trips to Japan, so we feel we owe you one ;)
For Europe, I loved Paris, much to my surprise. I don't like pretentious places or people but it was cool. Mind you I can speak French, so maybe I have an advantage on you. Greece was delightful, and easy to manage with mopeds and such. So was Turkey but recently politics there have gotten bad, so it's no longer a destination I recommend- which makes me sad. I wasn't anywhere else long enough to have a meaningful opinion.
I hung out in Samos, Patmos, Ikaria and Kos. Samos was pretty sedate. They had tourists but not a huge amount so you could have places to yourself, but it wasn't that small of an island. Stayed in a villa there because it was off season so it was cheap. Ikaria feels isolated, it was a place of internal exile for Communists and Anarchists in Greece, and you can tell, a lot of quirky traditions and they don't pander to tourists much, or didn't when I was there. They have hot springs there as well but I really dislike the heat... so the charm was lost on me. Patmos was small but well frequented because of the Cave of the Apocalypse. It's where John the Apostle wrote the Book of Revelations which is why it is called that. I stayed in Lampi, which is on the northern coast. A small town on a small island. It (Lampi) has a great restaurant though. Best garlic sauce I ever had in my life before or since. Kos was basically a medium sized mediterranean city. It was pleasant but busier than the others. I went from there to Bodrum, Turkey.
I was stationed in Germany in the early 80's. Germans on the weekends enjoy participating in what us called a volksmarch, or people's March. Many small towns host them. It is hundreds of people simply walking on trails in the forest, or in nature. Usually carrying a boda bag of local white wine or snapps often in lederhosen. A good way to mingle with the locals and have a good day. The reward at the end is usually a medal of that particular volksmarch
5 months in Europe...dang. I'm gonna miss all that fun Japanese stuffs :/ Hope you have a fun time though. Don't waste to much time in Sweden, its pretty boring around here ;)
Get Kinder Surprise eggs! Also Trier in Germany is a really cool Roman era city. One major thing as a kid in Europe was all the tiny amusement parks everywhere. Also Lego Land in Denmark! So many good places! Castles everywhere! If you go to Mainz Germany there’s good bakeries all over! One was right next to the train station. Get cheese loaf! It’s “walk around food.” Do raclette in Switzerland! Melted cheese meal... all you need to know right there. Food food food!
Thank you for sharing your life, with all the humour and enjoyment. Yeah just thanx.

Idlis are a South Indian breakfast staple, steamed rice paste 'discs'.

I really do look forward to Kyde and Eric videos! Thank you for the videos!
We look forward to sharing them! -E
Wow, wiki volksmarching. It has become much bigger over the years.
Oh neat, good to know! Sounds interesting! -E

Haha, we can actually get Kinder eggs in Japan pretty easily! Thanks for the other tips, added to our list! -E
A whole video of food and no HOOKERS? Did you take a Hooker out for lunch? Ha Ha
