    Many are criticizing the battery swapping concept. But it does had it sound agenda like:
    1) Instant charged up battery swapped in 10min to provide ICE refill advantage like petrol kiosks.
    2) Battery quality guaranteed throughout as its NIO duty to maintain them. If its damaged "accidentally", just go swap one will save you lot of $.
    3) Battery loan option to keep purchase price 40% lower without battery. So you pay monthly battery loan fees instead like paying for petrol.
    4) Ability to loan a bigger battery for occasional long journey.
    5) Upgradeable battery in future with new technology.
    6) Owner can still charge the battery themselves at home or at any supercharging kiosks.
    6) It provides a constant revenue to NIO.
    However, such battery swapping station is expensive to setup and maintain, and has very few number since it only serve NIO car. They will be concentrated in major cities with high number of NIO owners. Other NIO owners will need to drive a hell long distance to find one kiosk, or charge themselves at home.
    This is unlike cheap supercharging kiosks that can serve all EV to recoup investment quickly. So unless NIO becomes top car seller in every targeted country, it might not be so economically feasible. When NIO run out of $Bil to sustain before it cpuld build up economical of scale, this bleeding business will collapse.

    The toe bar is required for my bicycles. Very important to go on vacation. Not sure but it seems the last row can be folded 40-20-40 which would be amazing especially when going up to skiing.

      They are similar... but the et,5 touring costs only 40 thousand dollars including battery. Oh yes and it doesn't have air suspension, and double noise insulation... both are good, just the ec7 is more luxurious, and much more expensive.

    32 thousand dollars, for the Bass program. And 41 thousand if you buy the battery, these are the prices in China. Since it costs the same price as the et5 in China, it will probably cost the same as the European et5.

      Battery swap has lots of advantages as follows:
      Reduced Financial Burden: With the battery replacement model, consumers can purchase the vehicle without the added cost of the battery. Currently, in China, around 60% of NIO buyers subscribe to battery plans, and in other countries like Norway, more than 90% opt for battery subscription when purchasing electric cars. This provides convenience and reduces upfront costs for consumers.
      Upgradeability to New Battery Technology: When new-generation batteries are released, consumers have the option to upgrade their existing batteries to the latest technology. This relieves the stress of range limitations as newer batteries offer increased driving distances. For example, if you own a 70 kWh electric vehicle, you can upgrade to a 150 kWh or 200 kWh battery in the future. NIO allows consumers to choose between battery options like 70 kWh, 75 kWh, and 100 kWh at their battery swap stations.
      Convenience in Charging: One of the small inconveniences of electric vehicle ownership during winter or rainy days is the need to go outside and charge the car. However, with the advanced battery swap system (known as the "2nd-3rd generation"), there is no need to leave the vehicle. Everything is automated, eliminating the hassle of using unmanned charging stations that often receive complaints from consumers.
      Mitigating Rapid Charging Concerns: Rapid charging can potentially degrade the battery's lifespan. While fast charging is a viable solution for drivers who have difficulty accessing charging infrastructure, it can impose stress on the battery cells and lead to thermal degradation. Therefore, it is recommended to use slow or regular charging whenever possible, provided that a suitable charging environment is available.
      Freedom for Long-Distance Travel: Battery swapping enables drivers to plan long-distance trips without worrying about lengthy charging times. With a subscription-based model, users can pay an additional fee to exchange their battery for a larger capacity one, allowing them to travel without time or distance constraints. For instance, imagine traveling from Beijing to Shanghai without having to consider extended charging breaks. Personally, I drove a Model Y to Los Angeles and had to stop for charging five times, each taking around 30 minutes. I couldn't help but imagine how convenient it would have been if battery swap stations were available.
      Accessibility for Apartment Dwellers: Battery swapping becomes particularly valuable for people residing in areas where installing charging facilities or having home charging is challenging, such as apartment complexes. In such cases, battery swap stations can be situated next to existing infrastructure like gas stations or oil change facilities, providing an alternative solution. In fact, NIO has already entered into cooperation agreements with companies like Shell/Sinopec and Ikea to jointly develop battery swap stations. In situations where consumers need to use charging or swapping facilities, battery swapping offers time-saving benefits.
      Efficient Queue Management through App Integration: By utilizing an app, consumers can check the status of battery swap stations and adjust their visit accordingly to minimize waiting time. Instead of heading to stations where three to four cars are already waiting, they can choose locations with only one or two vehicles in line, resulting in time savings.
      Enhanced Resale Value and Extended Lifespan: Generally, the lifespan of a battery is estimated to be around 8 years. However, for owners of fixed battery electric vehicles, reselling the vehicle poses challenges in receiving a fair price. In contrast, owners of electric vehicles with swappable batteries can enjoy the benefits of software upgrades and battery replacements, which essentially provide a vehicle that is on par with a new one.
