    The back seats are removable which can give you a little more space. also you can get a couple of sheets of foam boards from home depot to level out the back for sleeping.

      Dirona, I realize this thread is 2 years old now but, I have a 2011 FJ and I live in the US. My front seats recline much farther tan any other vehicle I have ever seen, all the back they are very near flat. I sleep very comfortable in the drive seat (or passenger seat) when fully reclined. Try it, I think you will like it, it's one of my favorite features of the FJ inside the cab.
      As far as the Trac. control, I can't believe Toyota did'n install a cancel switch for it. When I first got my 2011 FJ I was sliding down some very big icy/muddy hills before I learned I could disable the Trac. control. In my opinion, not being able to turn off the Trac. can put the vehicle in very serious and dangerous situations. I hate the danged thing and firmly believe if a person really knows how to drive in all types of road conditions and situations there is NO need for this feature. Instead of trying to build vehicles that practically drive themselves, people need to learn how to drive without any/ all of the features that make them easier to drive! I was about ready to sell mine until I read the owners manual about controlling the Trac. control. lol Do you still own your '08 FJ?

    Yeah, I'm with you on that. #6 would be that Toyota doesn't make the FJ Cruiser anymore. I can see that over time just like the 4Runner, Rav4, Corolla & Camry that improvements and highly desirable features would be available in the newer models.
    Hey like there is no sun roof. What? And with the fact that there is a blind spot that they couldn't add on 'blind spot alerts' in future models.

    • @dironaa
      @dironaa  6 лет назад +1

      Thanks for the suggestion! Unfortunately, from the research I've done, it sounds like unplugging the brake fluid reservoir sensor (which I think is what you're referring to - correct me if I'm wrong) will also disable ABS. I have yet to find a method which will disable traction control and still allow use of ABS like a true traction control button would. But again, thanks for the input!

  • @billywilly3380
    @billywilly3380 6 лет назад +10

    I'm halfway to your video at your first two complaints. First, if you know anything about cars you absolutely can disable the traction control. All it takes is the installation of one button to cost about $5. And your second complaint, that is paid for you to put your Tactical toolbox or a fuel cell inside. Levels the whole thing out

    • @dironaa
      @dironaa  6 лет назад

      Thanks for the input. I've found plenty of ways to disable traction control, but haven't found a way that still allows ABS to function like a true factory installed traction control button would...this is the first vehicle Ive owned with ABS and I think it's a great feature, so I'd prefer not to ditch traction control at the expense of ABS. And I'm with you on the second one...I do plan to build a platform/drawer system in the rear cargo area so the hump won't be a problem anymore. Thanks for watching!

    4H -- High range gearing, center is unlocked (standard day to day driving. In 4H mode the traction is enabled by default for 6 Speed M/T FJ)

    I have to say concerning visibility that if you put some little mirrors on your side mirrors than you should have no problems any more with blind spots. Sincerely I have a better all round feeling with my fj than with any conventional car. It's a question of adaptation. For the back I put on a rearview camera and replaced the radio with an android infotainment system. Problem solved. That it's possible to install that traction control button is very cool. I didn't know that though I never ever needed it in my 3 years of driving my fj.

    • @dironaa

      True, that will disable traction control but it will also disable ABS, which I don’t want to give up. Pulling the seat bottoms out does help but unfortunately there is still a sizable hump where the rear floor transitions to the back seat. Thanks for the suggestions!

    The back seats can be removed completely, if that helps. I own the same truck. I have not once wished the back window came down automatically. I mean if you are in construction maybe, how many times are you opening that window? People in general have a hard time excepting things they may not like. I look at my FJ as an FJ. It's not fancy, it's plain for a reason. Less will break in deep country warrior games. I have seen these things push so much snow in front of them, it was riding up to the windshield. No mods. Just a damn good looking FJ. I have the yellow version.

    • @dironaa
      @dironaa  5 лет назад

      Yeah, that's what I eventually ended up doing and built a small platform where the back seat previously was. If the rear window rolled down like a 4Runner window I'd have it down whenever the front windows are down. I'm not a fan of AC and usually drive with windows down in the summer...the air buffeting on these rigs can be pretty bad.

      They are cool rigs, but I don’t understand why everyone turns a blind eye to their faults. I’ve had a fair amount of issues with mine...roof leaking in multiple places, brake calipers need replacing annually, torque converter went bad at 140k, broken teeth on the ring gear in the rear axle, and then there’s the underbody rust...

    • @dironaa
      @dironaa  4 года назад

      Mine has about 160k. Many people have put over 200k easily on their FJs. Ive owned a couple, and with an older/high mileage FJ I'd say a few of the common issues you might find are leaking roofs, failing torque converters, front "fender bulge", and seized brake calipers (I typically get 1-2 years out ofa set of calipers before they seize up and need to be replaced again). Id suggest heading over to fjcruiserforums.com for more info on these rigs.

    My biggest complaint is the gas mileage, i know its no economy car, but I figured id be able to get a consistent 18mpg on the hwy. I road trip a lot and my hwy MPG ranges from 14-19 hwy usually around 16.5 Mine is a 2013 Manual trans Trail Teams.

    • @dironaa
      @dironaa  6 лет назад +2

      I'm usually around 17-18mpg on the highway using premium fuel with the manual trans. As I understand it, the automatics get better mileage because they aren't AWD like the manuals.

    • @zebgates
      @zebgates 6 лет назад

      Dirona I understand that as well, I'm down on mileage probably because of weight from the body armour, larger tires & running 75-85 mph haha I feel these should've come with 4.10:1 gears, think it would actually help mileage (yes I know that doesn't sound right) when pulling hills at HWY speeds & with head winds because you wouldn't be giving it as much throttle or having to downshift to maintain speed. Or more power, both would accomplish the same think. I plan on regearing & supercharging eventually.

    • @dironaa
      @dironaa  6 лет назад

      I agree, both would have been nice. Would have also been great if Toyota had installed a lower range transfer case, at least in the trail teams FJs, similar to how Jeep put 4:1 low range in its Rubicon models.

    • @zebgates
      @zebgates 6 лет назад

      The manual trans FJs have a crawl ratio of 41.84:1 (Rubicon 84:1) I just wish they would have put a standard 2wd/4H/4L transfer case in the Manual trans FJs, I haven't yet looked to see if there is one that could be put in.

    I was like you. I was afraid of the VSC. That was until I tested it thoroughly. I had brand new AT tires for the first winter. It was a terror. I had to drive in 4Hi just to get around. Then one day I was driving home from hunting. It was a wide dirt road covered with about 6 inches of snow. I was trying to drive about 60-70 km per hour in 4Hi and it was wild because of unseen ruts that would kick the thing sideways. On a whim, I shifted it in 2Hi and the difference was amazing. All I'd hear is the VSC beeping away but it never kicked out. The second thing I learned is that VSC and ABS need some traction to work well. My second winter I installed so Nokian Hakka 5 SUV tires. The difference was remarquable. On a completely iced up road doing 70 km per hour, you can jamb the brakes AND swerve side to side with complete control in 2Hi. With these tires, I only use 4Hi in snow storm with deep snow. Otherwise its 2Hi. 4Hi disables VSC so I use it sparingly.

    Rear visibility, I used to drive truck and back in with mirrors, so it has not been an issue in 9 years of driving (no backup camera, I guess I should get one at some point!).

Heated mirrors, full screen in dash dvd, gps, voice control, bluetooth, seat heaters, crawl control, electronic locking differentials, front facing camera, dual fuel tanks, and i just press and hold the unlock button and the back window unlocks.
