I live n the states and have learned so much, keep the great content coming. PS, love to see context around miter saws, choosing the right one along with compressors and potential kits that come with tools. Thanks again.
First off, thank you so much for your very detailed and helpful videos. Secondly, could you please tell me if the Ready-Mix Plaster Compound is the same compound you used to put on the back-block as well as the 3 subsequent coats to cover the joins after installing the back-block, or did you use 2 different products? Thank you in advance/
I've watched a *lot* of drywall repair videos on RUclips - there are so many ways to repair drywall! This is one of the best - the dude is so professional!
HI Alex, its fine if Fibreglass Mesh Tape overlaps you may need to use more compound to cover the mesh tape as it will be thicker in that area I hope that helps ^Kyle
4 bloody days to fix one tiny hole is a ridiculous undertaking for what it is. I agree this is probably the best way to do it but its far too long winded for me
I just butter the edges sit the piece flush in the hole and then top coat it .... it’s done in an hour ..... never cracks cause the cement sets strong and the hole is so small anyway
I used to do that, I still do occasionally, but what tends to happen, is that the houses shift, and settle over time, depending on the ground conditions, drainage, geological conditions etc... When the house moves, the battens remain in place, yet the patch moves with the rest of the wall, and I have noticed, that even after six months cracks can occur.
Just a question about the crack on the wall. After sand it down and plaster it over, could i use that gib paper jointing on top over the crack i just fill to prevent it cracks again?
Dodgy handyman... Want you want is to make sure that fix doesn't require you to come back. Carpenter's fix... Nice vid! Edit... My dodgy handyman. Comment was directed towards Paul Xerxen. The mitre 10 bloke did a good job... Carpenters way.
This is for the DIYer haha all these pro’s that does it for a living saying how long it takes hahha , I’d say this is how you’d do it at home in your own house where you have the 24 hr in between coats and sanding , no one would make any money taking 4 days to patch a hole the size of a 50c piece haha
Yes, fixed for the eye, but no one is allowed to touch this place or slam doors nearby. How about cutting the edges at an angle of approx. 45 degrees to create space for plastering the joint as recommended by the plate manufacturer and supplied as follows.😵
Plasterboard and plaster are unfortunately different things in the US... here plasterboard is drywall... well live an learn. Still need to learn how to fix a hole in a *plaster* old school wall...
"...little tickle up.." >> madness I say!!! Wish you had outtakes! After two glasses of wine, my partner wants to marry you and my hole still needs attention!
Great video - much better than the Bunnings equivalent! Thanks!
His repairs were flawless. Great video
Cheers Asif! ^Matt
Another clear video. Well done Mitre 10 NZ. 👴🏻🇦🇺

Yeah, it's a bit confusing for a newbie, some of it's contradictory. You'd think they'd be taught a standard way?
This video is brilliant. When you are using the mesh tape is it okay if it overlaps?

I always feel sorry for the nails and screws that fall behind the wall. They would stay there forever.
if you use a screw you can screw it from the front, wait for it to stick and then un screw the screw getting it back. =)

Its so easy once they show you

Gyprock is called gib in NZ. 😌
Why not fix timber to the back of the board rather than stick board behind, quicker and stronger

Yes most definitely use the paper to do this. it will prevent the crack from opening up again.
Thank you
Awsome!!! fast and ez
Stoked you found it helpful! 👍
Amazing!!!
All this tools for that little hole lol
Its common knowledge for tradesmen the smallest jobs take the most tools
So easy. 5 days later it’s done…
😂
Lol. 3 days to fill a basic hole. Great technique, but you can't operate as a handyman that way.

When the council do anything there's always bumps and gaps everywhere. That'll do for council scum they're probably thinking....

Mate!!! 5 days to fix a hole under 150mm wide that’s crazy as!
sum'o dat compound
I prefer the 'hot patch' method. Wont need tape.

Also he's doing all this for quite a small hole? Seems a bit OTT?
use 20 min hot mud for these repairs and ready to paint in half hour for 1 coat and for two coats its ready to paint in an hour!

Get a home Depot $3 patch. Put it on in 2 mins Done!!😁😁
A list of all the items would be helpful 🥲
Thank you so much for the feedback, appreciate it!

Bro this tiny hole gotta be 10x stronger than the surrounding wall now
IKR! A tiny hole ended up being a major repair job.
Plasterboard Wall Patches look good for a similar, but much higher, repair.
