You only do the internal join for the scotia when they face inwards, need to do you where the two scotia boards point outwards.

PS there are other type of cornices, other than scotia . . .
Yes, I’m considering using bevelled cornice instead of scotia.
never sit mdf on the floor unless the edges are sealed against any moisture entering.
Very true, Brendan. Personally, I wouldn't use it for any flooring application, sealed ends or not.

Quirk? is what we call a reveal and drop saw is what we call a miter saw. But its all English...
William Jackson the quirk is just the 3mm gap to allow for movement.
