    Quick tip. 2nd or final coat on ceiling should roll across the main source of external light.

      So you mean perpendicular to the light source?

    • @markdrewett149
      @markdrewett149 Год назад

      @@SexyStreetStyle yes and no. Yes because if lets say you roll two coats, the first rolls toward the light source, the second rolls across the light source. No because perpendicular lines are defined as two lines that meet or intersect each other at right angle of 90 degrees, so it cant be the final coat if we are talking about two coats... can it?

    When do you recommend removing the masking tape? I always removing some of my skirting/window frame paint and/or wall paint right at the end wheb removing the tape or even have leaks under the masking tape. Having to go back and touch up is so time consuming and frustrating

    • @Hybrid330i
      @Hybrid330i 7 лет назад +5

      Remove the tape before the paint gets a 'skin' on it. Dont use rubbish quality tape (been down that road).. you only have to go back and do it again. Use 3m brand or for a perfect job with fine detail and 0 bleed use ScotchBlue Delicate Surfaces with Edge Lock.

      A professional trick if you don't have the best 3M painters tape (which you should) is to quickly paint over the burnished tape edge with the colour underneath (old colour you don't want to bleed onto ) the tape before painting the new colour that you want it to be. Don't pull the tape off at an angle but directly parallel to the wall and very soon after painting within 10 minutes or so. If tape has been left on too long you can use a blow dryer on low to warm up the adhesive on the back do not hold it and heat up the wall, just enough to soften the tape to remove ... you also may not be pressing your tape edge down well enough to begin with and making a good seal if you're getting bleed... if you don't have the original colour that's under the tape line you can also use a flat water-based clearcoat to seal the edge for painting the colour you want after it has dried ...but you shouldn't have to go to all this trouble unless the wall is very uneven and difficult to make a seal with the tape

      @@hmh3576 Both good points. There's no tape that doesn't have bleed occasionally even if you clean and dry with a sponge first. I know it's annoying but as mentioned you pull before the paint starts to dry and address any issues. That's simply part of professional painting. You go back and check your work.

      Uh ....no u can't amateur. And he did all the steps a professional would do with the exception of using masking tape -which is for weekend painters .... most non-pros dread going to the trouble of this much prep and don't do it.

    • @ericterry4335
      @ericterry4335 4 года назад

      @@hmh3576 Nah, this is DIY level. Even if you are brush and roll.
      First you do your ceiling no need to mask unless. Roll then brush. This decreases the amount you need to brush especially as you use the roller edge to roll into the corners. You will like 4ft sections rather than the entire wall as he is you start by applying a W of paint then roll it smooth with pressure on the side of the roller you are rolling towards.
      After the ceiling you do the molding and base or skirting as he calls it. Your rooms sound kinda gay. The reason you do the base first is because it's going to have a more consistently smooth texture to tape to than a wall especially if your wall is textured. Once you've two coated your skirting. You tape to it. The the other reason you do this is you've but protected it almost drips while you coat the walls which you also roll>cut in> roll you can often get away without brushing twice and just touch-up. Oh also do your wall fill first. And there's no reason to 3 coat that ceilings unless you are getting paid big bucks or is raw drywall. Don't wear your fancy clothes and remember to cover your paint and plastic your brushes especially in that quick drying primer
