Thank you! Sorry it took forever to publish!
8:34 is not bad at all! I liked Peugeot before going to Alfa Romeo.
What brakes are you guys using in this little marvel?
@@cancianrally almost certainly from peugeot 406 v6 they bolt straight on
Finally!!!
Those underdog car videos are the stars of this channel imo.
Lightweight French hatchbacks have something special no other cars seemed to ever manage. More than just being lightweight, something about how they tell you everything and are like keen puppies desperate to please and just GO! Great vid this. Cracking car.
true so. I had an 106 XSI 16V years ago, on curvy roads, slight descent as fast as my 400hp Evo7
This. Have a DS3r which is the last modern “lightweight” french hot hatch(at 1150 kg its 100kg lighter even than the Clio RS 197), with a 308 gti LSD gearbox with way shorter gears the car is really a blast and more fun than a lot of more expensive and powerful cars
Thrue spoken...I had 106 1.6 Rallye back in the day.Fantastic handling car.Now I drive Clio 4 RS200 CUP and let me tell you even Clio on the curves feels like heavy car with less feel on steering wheel compared to that 106.
I guess it's because of the frame of french cars, they're really cool.
This so perfectly describes the AX GT when I had it as a young un. Massive love here for the french hatchbacks!
You don't need much power to have fun, this is a perfect example!
He even had brake lights for blind people ....
Love the variety of cars on this channel
The one camera, hand-held footage added drama ... or even more correct: showed the true experience.
Great car, delivering all what's expected. Congrats
😂 terrible Breaks 🙈🙈
@@AnteFuerst Loud brakes, but they didn't overheat or suffer from what I saw.
@@AnteFuerst aggressive metallic race compounds are like that
@@Fabulousprofound168 yeah, still annoying that sound.
@@AnteFuerst it’s up there with nails on chalkboards, but I would rather have this than getting massive brake fade or the pads going up in flames 🔥
I love these videos of affordable cars and this one checks all boxes:
Light, small, not much electronics, looks good, small engine, doesn't sound bad and most importantly, puts a smile on your face.
These things are rapidly going up in value. They aren't that cheap.
Now that's an indestructible Peugeot
Affordable back in the day.
I paid £1750 for one in 2009. Sold it for £2k.
Should have held onto it.
Amazed by how clean everything is. To be honest this is probably a great recipe for a track car. So much fun yet not too hard on you pockets. You were bang on about the car in the end. Loved the lap.
Yes ad it will be very much enjoyable also in smaller tracks!
Wow. That was very enjoyable. The engine might be the best sounding 4cyl I've ever heard - sounds angry, hungry for throttle, with a nice little higher frequency pitch in the last 1000 or maybe 500 rpm. The handling looks stable. The interior is beautiful. Nothing to complain about :P Props to the owner, and as usual thanks Misha for getting it on tape.
If only it had 50 ponies more.
@@carlosoruna7174 dont need
there's better sounding 4cyls for sure
Get it on ITBs and it sounds even better
@@r-amores8173 Correct
Peugeots are monsters of stability! So nice to see one in the channel!!
Cant beat a small nimble car I have a Vauxhall or Opel corsa b with a 1.6 16v lightly modded at about 140 bhp and its cheep cheerfull fun, love this 106. Well impressed with this car and misha's comments!! Keep em coming lad.
to me the 106 is a favorite. Go kart weight and speed . Here in Greece the tuning scene was huge and after 20 years you can modify them really cheap. Sad thing is they started to appreciate and are losing their vfm
106 μαζί με σαξοραλα, xsara και ibiza 😂
Awesome, I ran a 106 GTi track car for 12 years, along side my various 911’s, I often preferred the track days in the 106 for the shear chuckability and lack of fear of pranging it. 🙌🏼 lift off oversteer in the wet was always hilarious too. Plus it could show up some big power cars with inexperienced drivers.
So sick too see that little 106 overtaking all those nice cars 💪
Nicer car takes the lead
Suprisingly nippy for engine size.
Power to weight im guessing
Really enjoyed that. A good smooth drive too. Takes me back to my competition days and small well sorted FWD hatches that can surprise the big boys.
The handheld gave a real sense of being in the car. That fellow knew his car well and had a smooth line. Great watching
the 106 is one of the best-handling cars of its era
Had a Saxo VTS and it handled just as well if not better than most modern hot hatches I have drove. 106/Saxo are like go-karts, they stick to the ground so well
@@JB29987 yup, the Saxo VTS, the 106 GTI and the Citroen AX GIT pretty much handle the same, they all hug the road very well.
@@JB29987 add the Twingo RS
Fantastic lap! I could see you building a car like it Misha. ❤
Such a cool little car. One of my top 5 driving experiences was in one of these (the old 1.4 version) and it was absolutely sensational. Can't believe how much they're going for now!
The S1 was a 1.3 and had Peugeot Sport inlet manifold and fairly aggressive cam as standard. The 1.4 was found in the xsi
After owning a few years ago a Subaru BRZ, done some Trackdays with it, seeing this (and owning a boring car), I'm really in the mood for a build like this. Doesn't cost you an arm and a leg also and it's big big fun! Thx Misha for sharing also this kind of cars... You are a hero!
This car is probably a blast to drive on the Ring! Lower powered cars are great.
I really like these POV style laps as you feel the speed and bumps of the track much more. Feels much more immersive. Great audio too!
Very nice... the 106 Peugeot was very popular in the 90's! The club used to be called: Peugeot Friends Germany.
I drove a Peugeot 306D Turbo... actually rare in Germany at the time - a nice 1.9 turbo diesel. The 106GTI later 106S16 were very popular. At that time there were also Peugeot 205 GTI, CTI and Mi16. One in the forum nickname *Miraculix* was the craziest :)))) The last meeting (2010) in Schweinfurt really rocked the old people. Those were the days! There is still a Peugeot forum but it's not like it used to be, that's it... and I drive a Suzuki Jimny FJ (heavily modified) which can also go through deep water ;)... It's really fun !!! :) )))
Seriously this is one of the best car/owner we've seen. Just love the car. Thanks for sharing. Great video as always.
I remember when these cars came out. They were quite fast for the time. And lightweight too. Cool lap. Nice one. ✌
From a standing start they'll still out accelerate most cars, top end of course is another matter 😅
But you can get away so quick in these just because of the sheer lack of weight and inertia to over come.
You can leave some pretty expensive machinery behind, and some of those drivers tend to get pissy about that 😅
In terms of the price. One of the greatest Cars ever build, in my opinion.
i have this car and i love it, mine is completely stock with the 1.1 engine.... it doesnt have any power but it's very light weight and it's great to drive... mi goal it's to put that same engine, 1.6 liters dual cam and of course more upgrades and leave it as a track car... it doesnt have anything, no power windows, no asisted steering, just a radio and a cable throttle, its a very fun car, i love it!
Always liked the 106. Good-looking little hatches and this guy even took the time to dress up the interior which is probably a rare thing to see in one of these bare-bone spec models. Next up, put a 306 or 206 gti engine in ^^ or maybe a k20 haha.
Can make 190HP NA on these engines if you got the time and money for it :P
ITBs, head polish and higher comp pistons should get you well started.
@@TotoGeenen That's a lot of work when a swap will give you 200 easy or even as a starting point in the case of a K20 (could even go full heretic and do a clio 2/3 2.0 swap) with tons of torque, understressed coz it's such a light car. Can get a bunch of money back by selling the 1.6 drivetrain also. Still goes very well for what it is though. Cars like these are so much fun.
@@papapetad very little work to swapping an engine.
@@TotoGeenen Depends on the swap. I meant the cost of bringing that 1.6 to near 200hp would get the owner a good distance towards a 2.0 swap. It's never cheap. Wiring, ecu, axles and fabrication and certification etc... I'm just thinking a swap would be money better spent than wringing that 1.6's neck when it's already doing fine as is and a 2.0 in this thing would transform it into quite the special car.
He is fast with it thats for sure 💪🏻😎
fantastic video! this little car is a masterpiece of driving pleasure..driving it and you feel blessed by god...congratulations to the guy having this car in such a condition!!
In love with 106 r , and the old school filming make this video even better!
Bringinig my 106 XSI to the nurb is my dream, seing this just made my day, such a great build ! Kudos to the owner, very special baguette there
Clean blue Peugeot with a nice lap. Thanks Misha and car owner.
Props to the builder of the car.
Nice! This 106 and his owner vids are great. Good choice and big send. "Slow" car, probably, but only in straight line
Is all about sensations. All we like to feel inside us like a race driver, and with modern cars that require a lot of money to only have a fraction of the memories we have from the 80-90's icons... I don't care about a lap time if i don't enjoy lapping.
Very happy to see cars like these on here. Keep the spirit!
Nice ride and a cool car! 5th gear from the XUD9 (1.9l Diesel) fits the gearbox and adds 10-15km/h to the top speed (assuming he's running the 1.6l VTS from the Saxo/Xsara). Might be beneficial on the straights :)
Engine is a C2 VTS engine. But same gearbox.
Tu5jp4 engine from citroen
small cars are FUN! and this dude can drive!
The induction noise is awesome and it's all down to the Peugeot Motorsport RAM Induction kit it has fitted as I had the same one on my 106 Gti.
Peugeot: brakes
My ears: proceed to die.
Wouw, i love those pocket rockets, the sound, the handling, the fun they make on such a track. I'm very happy about you being able to make this video and agree that it is sufficiently powered. The E34 M5 in the background in the beginning was nice too!
The comparison with the 205 1.9 was slightly odd. Apart from both wearing a Peugeot badge and having a zero between two other digits, they have little in common.
One left the factory as a stripped-out lightweight for rally stages, the other is the slightly heavier, slightly faster, but much flabbier cousin of an earlier GTi. A road car full of leather and toys.
The 106 Rallye left the factory with no toys... Even the paint was only there to stop rust. It had (from the works) a purity of purpose that the 205 1.9 could never match. And it was light. Very engaging, absorbing and entertaining video of a fast, busy, keen little stage fighter.... Very good. Chapeau.
I love this camera setup! You really get a feel for the bumps and the behaviour of the car :)
But I can understand if peoples are getting dizzy watching this ^^
Man I loved the lap so much! Your assessment in the end says everything I wanted to comment. You can see how it’s sufficiently powered and that you don’t need 200, 300 or more hp to have fun. Awesome video!
I’ve owned a Clio Williams, 16v and 205 1.9. The 1.3 Rallye and to a slightly lesser extent, the 1.6 Rallye is the better drivers car. The steering is unbelievable. Lotus like. If they made them again I would buy two tomorrow!
Xsi 1.3 100cv with xad gearbox
106gti was by far my favourite
Can't be made again.... Because the metal sheets were so thin. You simply had to avoid crash!!! We called them zinc cars
@@keronGR can be made again, but people expect 1000HP or more, and the stupid emission regulations prohibiting it. Different world we live in.
@@lexburen5932 not emission regulations, more like safety regulations. Have you ever driven one?? 160hp on this 780kg is FAST. Faster than a 230hp VW gti or Honda Type R.... But very very demanding on driver skills!!!! These cars CANNOT be made again under the world we live now
As a Miata owner I will like this Video very much, and now
I enjoy watching
I've driven a 208 GTi with some modifications, it was a blast. Maybe you can have one there someday xD
This Peugeots are always fun to drive full pedal.
What a beast, driving the 1.1 60hp version for a couple days with a hard suspention and the cornering is amazing
Superb Footwork Peugeot, Underrated Track Machine.
i love the low power low weight cars. i think they are the most fun. also why i got a MX5
Lekker gereden ouwe.
Serieus genoten tijdens het kijken!!!
inderdaad geweldig. 🥳
Thanks for the Peugeot 106 video. It is a gianτ killer. Brought back a lot of memories. P.S. The blue carpet is the factory one.
Great driving and best fun car for the Ring! Lots of sensations!
I was missing the handheld shots! Gives a dynamic feel to the video, and makes it seem like you’re going warp speed haha 🔥
I'm sure if the marshals heard those whining brakes, the car would not be allowed on the track again because that noise for sure goes past the static 100dbB noise limit.
Grande Misha por traer un 106 rallye al canal🤘🏻🇪🇸✌🏻
TOP: reasonably priced lightweight car that’s perfect for learning, a true driver’s car
I had a 106GTi. I can remember lapping Elise's on track days and I'm not talented like this guy. Probably still my favorite car
Small and light cars are awesome 🙌
It looks like the slowest lap ever.... and I loved every second of it👍🎉.As much as I am a JDM fanboy, I am also a massive fan of a French hot hatch. Civic Type R and now a 106 Rallye , Surely Christmas has come a month early. Thanks once again for yet another cool video 😀
after all the years, this litle car is still a great fun car :)
Nice car. Memories. I have had the 1.3 Rallye - Van Kronenburg. Lots of fun at 19 yrs old. 🤙🏼🍀
Really nice! Love those little rockets!
Most fun with a leight car/low power
in Greece they are everywhere,if its the 16v you can build a motor with 180hp +- with single throttle body!
but the easiest thing is to go turbo, stock motor can hold 300hp with just a headgasket!
One year I did numerous track days at Brands Hatch in my Evo 6RS2 and on one of them a really well prepped 106 Rallye was being driven beautifully and it took me a couple of laps to just get by cleanly (Indy circuit) down the start finish straight.
I admire your balls Misha. Being a passenger to a driver you don’t know who proceeds to give it big sends whilst your strapped into what is basically a biscuit tin. I do it all the time on my channel. 😅
Very neat build, certainly using it all, looks like fun
My friend used to own a white one... Man it was rapid.... So much fun...
Just proves you don't need 300bhp to have fun. Need more cars like this 👍
Beautiful car and beautifully driven. Thank you for the ride along. 👍
Of course this is much more exciting than the stuff most people think they need nowadays (million hp, turbo, automatic, luxury). One of the closet and best value drives you could rent on the 'ring was (is?) a Suzuki Swift. Lift off oversteer always brilliant, relatively easy control fun.
Little angry boxes like this one always thrill me ! 😎🔥🔥🔥
I love this class of car. Affordable, agile fun and quick
Great car and more fun than a lot of much bigger more expensive vehicles I'll wager.
That's a nice piece of Peugeot history there, back when they made fun cars. Might be underpowered, but this was a pretty fantastic car, all things considered.
One of my favourite cars ever! What a amazing video!
Awesome little cars. Always wanted one after having a 1.1 as my first car. Like little go karts, might have topped out at 100 but went everywhere flat out 😂
Common car in Greece 10-15 years ago. Yes, they are fast. We have very good experience on these engines. We have reached the point where 190hp from this 1.6 engine is achieved on tuner shops, without failures.
Yeah, the wobbly video's are my favorite!
Nice car also!
Of all the cars I've seen on the Nordschleife, this car is among my top 3. A fantastic car to learn to drive fast on this track. The smooth and precise gear shift is 👌
I was drooling when I saw a blue S2 rallye. Mildly disappointed to see no steelies but then the brakes kinda dictate that! 😁
As said in Top Gun Maverick: 'It's not a car, it's a driver'. Or something like that.
These cars were made when cars were made for fun fun fun
106's always had the guts for the track :) ...
still missing mine
Great driving and vid
awesome car! I'll keep saying it, the more of these kinds of self made and very loved cars, the better
(anybody can throw money and be fairly quick, this kind of cars is what I like to see ;) )
Ah no Misha, why? Now I’m sad again! I sold my 106 Rallye years ago and now I see this great video, great car and getting great memories. Need to buy one again!! Love it
Love it! Driven hard, stops and turns and I bet it is lots of fun!!
Every time he stomps the brakes, it's like he's murdering piglets. 😭
PLEASE build something similar!! These things are always the most fun on track. This is what i think off when some one says they got a hot hatch. Not these vw 14/ 1500 kg gti's. I really enjoyed this video, makes me think of the citroen xsara vts, which is by far my fav video.
I love this. Small cars, old school and just go! 306 GTI6 is also cool. Or 306 S16 and a Dimma body kit.
Man, that could go for a show car too so clean and cool
Lovely looking e34 m5 six speeder in the background from 1.48 mins 🥰
Had one of these in black. Still to this day and many cars over, the car I had more fun with.
406 squeeeeeeellll baby, get some bell and rotors and the squeal will go. Great vid
The passenger handheld view is definitely better that the split angle camera view, maybe a box with all the speedos in the top left or right then tha passenger handheld. Really makes it feel like your sitting passenger watching
Smiles per miles, light cars are always way more fun, great toy for low stress and dosnt cost the earth.
I've seen this car in person years ago when I was still living in the Netherlands. If I remember correctly this car happened to be owned by someone in the Dutch 106 club.
puts a smile on my face
This video and the one with the red xsara vts were really good. Don't get me wrong, all your videos are great but there is something with these naturaly aspirated noisy hatches that brings a lot of joy..
Very nice lens for this style of handheld POV
Amazing you say about the 205 gti 1.9 had nine from 2005 to 2012 those cars wore so cheap back then! But the 106 gti in my opinion feels faster being a twin cammed engine also feel bit more modern, being made later on then the 205 gti... my 106quiksliver vts will keep as they becoming rare in the uk...
I miss my 106 Rallye. The one car I wish I kept a hold of.
