A compilation of all of George's scenes during his appearance on Eric Idle's RWT Christmas special, December 26, 1975. (I apologize for the editing problems).
Rutland Weekend Television's Henry Woolf, who was my friend Steve Morris's uncle, made one of my first radio jingles for my radio show. I was amazed when he turned up to his home in Reynoldston Swansea in 1977! What a lovely guy!!
I remember watching Rutland Weekend Television with my brother when it was originally on. Shocked to realize it was so long ago as I would have been 10 at the time!
yes- he acted as a pirate on that show many times- and in the Beatles Magical Mystery Tour when they have those colrful outfits on george is wearing a red outfit with a red pirate hat--George makes an awesome pirate- he had a wonderful sense of humor.
I saw the show in Tucson and yes, his voice was raspy....still loved the performance. Did he take out his psychedelic strat from Magical Mystery Tour and say "I hope you like me as much as you like me guitar" when the crowd started cheering?
i totally agree with you. I can watch this over abd over. He and John, i think, were the 2 most "down to earth people". I always felt u could approach them like anyone else! Miss them oh, so much . thanks 4 posting this
Oh now this clip is in complete context, a running joke, go figure, thanks for posting the version that makes sense, "I'll run it up your mast" I'll try to use that in meetings tomorow, my tribute to George, hah!
I *dearly* love this. Lucky Brits - Neil Innes will be doing a reunion tour with Fatso in October! They're going to play one of George's songs in their set.
People have been trolling since just about forever. The world's oldest recorded joke has been traced back to 1900 BC and is a saying of the Sumerians, who lived in what is present day Iraq. The joke: "Something which has never occurred since time immemorial; no woman has ever farted on her husband's lap."
Concludes with *The best ever version of **_My Sweet Lord_* A compilation of all of *George Harrison's* "Pirate Bob" scenes during his appearance on *Eric Idle's* RWT Christmas special, December 26, 1975 Andy Wells
everybody, I suggest you all see the video called "Choose what you're watching" by the new sounds of a duo called thenewno2. You'll be pleased to see what George's Son Dhani is up to these days. It's already here on youtube, check it out now!
no these are the lyrics: I want to be a pirate A pirate's life for me All my friends are pirates And sail the b. b. sea I've got a jolly roger It's black and white and vast Get out of your skull and crossbones And I'll run it up your mast With a yo-ho-ho And a ya-ha-ha And a ye-hee-hee-ho-hum With a yo-ho-ho And a ya-ha-ha And a yum-yum-jum-jum
the original song is Harrison's song "My Sweet Lord" but Harrison performed a parody called the Pirate Song on BBC. Television Harrison closed the show performing lip-sync'ed to a previously recorded track which started with the song, and changed to a pirate shanty once Harrison started 'singing'. the clearly befuddled band stop and eventually follow along and everyone comes to join in the fun as"host" Idle frequently walks onscreen, bewildered at Harrison's performance.
@QuikVidGuy no- the funny part is the pirate song is really a version of George's song "My Sweet Lord" and George got sued for suposedly plagarising the song by making it to similar to something else so his pirate bit is sarcasm at the copyright business
haha, I LOVE how he pokes the man when he comes over with a 'what the hell are you doing look' on his face. lol. this is 25% of my crazy fantasy come true. The other 75% would be if the rest of the lads joined in. Brillian nonetheless though.
@col06 this was lung cancer though and George himself said it was from his constant smoking he never could quit smoking as shown by his song "Lead a Horse To Water" (from the old saying about stuborness)
Actually, the Keith Richards connection is based on the fact the Johnny Depp famously said he based his character of Capt. Jack Sparrow on Keith. They only cast Keith in subsequent sequels because of that.
I mean like seriously, can you IMAGINE??? John would totally give Sparrow competition with his wit. Paul would be the romantic one. lol And Georgie would make a very happy, positive pirate... like here. :) And Ringo... I'm not sure if he'd fare well with life at sea, but who knows? He maybe the best pirate of all 4. Someday... in Heaven
Is that John Halsey on drums? (I'm assuming it is, that would be typical for RWT.) If so, this might be the closest George ever came to his supergroup idea, the Brutles! :-P
This fills me with indescribable joy.
George is the best! I love his "pirate" voice and how he only has one leg. And I love the song at the end.
This is the oldest comment I've seen on RUclips
I love that George has his ciggie in his left hand because his right hand is just a hook! 🤣🤣
Stuff like this remind me why George is my favorite Beatle.
Put this on dvd already!
This is now my favorite George Harrison song! Hilarious!
"I sing?" Hahahahahaha!
George Harrison has an unnatural obsession with pirates
Dan Harrison King
You say that like it’s a bad thing...
Which suggests that there is a _natural_ obsession with pirates.
because he is one
He thought it was them who did all the pirate recordings
'The Pirate Sketch'. Must be a reference to 'The Parrot Sketch', I guess. :)
Rutland Weekend Television's Henry Woolf, who was my friend Steve Morris's uncle, made one of my first radio jingles for my radio show. I was amazed when he turned up to his home in Reynoldston Swansea in 1977! What a lovely guy!!
lol, I love how his leg shows on the other side of the wooden peg. ;)
I remember watching Rutland Weekend Television with my brother when it was originally on. Shocked to realize it was so long ago as I would have been 10 at the time!
This is one of the coolest things George ever did!
Haha, I love seeing George and Neil chatting about pirates. xD
This just goes to show what happens when two great minds get together you get some of the funniest things I've ever seen!
Omg, he is so fucking adorable :'D
yes- he acted as a pirate on that show many times- and in the Beatles Magical Mystery Tour when they have those colrful outfits on george is wearing a red outfit with a red pirate hat--George makes an awesome pirate- he had a wonderful sense of humor.
His voice had apparently recovered from the Dark Hoarse tour and album. George, 1974, was coincidentally, my first ever big concert.
I saw the show in Tucson and yes, his voice was raspy....still loved the performance. Did he take out his psychedelic strat from Magical Mystery Tour and say "I hope you like me as much as you like me guitar" when the crowd started cheering?
hey! and you could see his leg when he turned around..! HILARIOUS!
❤🧡💛💚🤍💙💜🤎🖤💔🦿
i totally agree with you. I can watch this over abd over. He and John, i think, were the 2 most "down to earth people". I always felt u could approach them like anyone else! Miss them oh, so much . thanks 4 posting this
George was--and is--great.
"Shove off, thank you!"
OMG! I can't! 🤣🤣🤣

Oh George and Eric are so funny
God I love George and I love Eric!!!
They both have such an awesome sense of humor!
One can only speculate about the fun Eric and George had with the dancers after completing the show.
A jolly Roger? ;)
'Ooh arrr ah ahaarrrr oh me legs fallen off!' :')
very funny- You gotta love George's sense of humor!
George Harrison, trolling since befores it was cool
People have been trolling since just about forever. The world's oldest recorded joke has been traced back to 1900 BC and is a saying of the Sumerians, who lived in what is present day Iraq.
The joke: "Something which has never occurred since time immemorial; no woman has ever farted on her husband's lap."
3:23 hahahaha the looks on the band's faces when George broke into the pirate song. Leave it to George to mess with your head.
This is now my favorite George Harrison song!
George had great fun with this - almost like the Christmas fan club singles the Beatles used to do.
I LOVE YOU GEORGE. YOU HAVE MADE MY DAY.
George is so great and funny!!! Hahaha, I miss him
I just noticed Eric kicking with the girls. THAT was hilarious.
Everyone always ends dancing in the Ruttles/Pythons
How have I never seen this before??????

George was a big Eric Idle fan
George is such a great guy ^-^

Джордж великолепен!!!!!! 😄💥💯👍👏👏👏👏
I'm smitten with Pirate Bob! AAAARRRRRRGGGGHHHHH!
Sail on, George. Sail on.
"You'll be able to sing in a minute
I sing?"
XD
he was the gentle, kind, God fearing one.....
I wonder what ever became of that George (I hope I spelt his name right) Harrison chap. I do believe that he could have been a professional musician.
Thestargazer56
Or professional comedian!
he was one already before this came out he was not just professional but famous p.s. i hate nerds
@@OGRE_HATES_NERDS XD satire funny
He went on to play a small part ("Mr. Papodopolous") in "Monty Python 's Life of Brian".
@@OGRE_HATES_NERDS Thanks for telling us all what you hate, and for being clumsily oblivious to satire. Next time, keep it to yourself, eh?
I can't believe I've never seen this.
Just wonderful!
Absolutely phenomenal
"Up you then!!" Fantastic!
BRILLIANT
Great stuff! Thanks for uploading so much:))
everybody, I suggest you all see the video called "Choose what you're watching" by the new sounds of a duo called thenewno2. You'll be pleased to see what George's Son Dhani is up to these days. It's already here on youtube, check it out now!
He should have been a professional actor :) And he should have more credit!
Haha, George was awesome! Thank you!
I love how the band stop playing! Makes me laugh so much
haha George was allways the Beatle who made me laugh the most.
no these are the lyrics:
I want to be a pirate
A pirate's life for me
All my friends are pirates
And sail the b. b. sea
I've got a jolly roger
It's black and white and vast
Get out of your skull and crossbones
And I'll run it up your mast
With a yo-ho-ho
And a ya-ha-ha
And a ye-hee-hee-ho-hum
With a yo-ho-ho
And a ya-ha-ha
And a yum-yum-jum-jum
Thank you! I missed a few words always
George as a pirate - perfect! LOL
Think I spotted the rosewood tele in the band during the pirate song!
I must have died and gone to heaven. That's the only explanation for the fabness of this video!
If George had still been alive when they made Pirates of the Carribean, Johnny Depp would never have got the part.
lol when he sings!
thank you, yes, thank you, lovely, lovely.. lovely, shu-up, thank you..lol
i like to be a pirate....lol..Like this video!!
i never got to see this thanx a bunch george cracks me up
Awesome~

And introducing George Harrison as Pirate "Bob"
Magic.
@QuikVidGuy no- the funny part is the pirate song is really a version of George's song "My Sweet Lord" and George got sued for suposedly plagarising the song by making it to similar to something else so his pirate bit is sarcasm at the copyright business
"My Sweet Civil Law..."
Happy Talk Like a Pirate Day ev'rybody
ARG!!!
The hell with Keith Richards, Johnny Depp stole his whole mumbling pirate act from George here!
'Well up you then'. LOL
haha, I LOVE how he pokes the man when he comes over with a 'what the hell are you doing look' on his face. lol. this is 25% of my crazy fantasy come true. The other 75% would be if the rest of the lads joined in. Brillian nonetheless though.
lol. me too. or at least giggled and blushed.
@TulseLuper nah. George would be a random pirate that comes out of nowhere and gets into a fight with Keith on Beatles vs. Stones
@col06 this was lung cancer though and George himself said it was from his constant smoking he never could quit smoking as shown by his song "Lead a Horse To Water" (from the old saying about stuborness)
Love it!
George is the sexiest pirate ❤
Yes! He sure can "pilage my village" anytime!
Priceless: "Thirteen men on a 'RED' man's Chest..."
~ Aaarrrg mateee ! ~
*\* May Yee Rest In Peace George Harrison */*
Arrgh, matey. I never hear that song any more without thinking of the Pirate Song. :)
@wahwah16 They were actually wanting to cast George Harrison in the movies, but he passed away. That's why they cast Keith Richards instead.
Actually, the Keith Richards connection is based on the fact the Johnny Depp famously said he based his character of Capt. Jack Sparrow on Keith. They only cast Keith in subsequent sequels because of that.
Haha!
"I sing?"
are they neil innes and ollie halsall?
along with eric idle they are the rutles!!
Very funny,playing with george!
That's not the late, great Ollie Halsall (who played lefty), but in fact on slide it's future Rockpile stalwart Billy Bremner.
Definitely! And if Johnny would have got the part. George would get the part Keith R. has got now...
@randgrithr I didn't notice- now I see= it is My Sweet Lord- except now its the pirate song!
Introduced as "My Sweet Civil Law"
I mean like seriously, can you IMAGINE??? John would totally give Sparrow competition with his wit. Paul would be the romantic one. lol And Georgie would make a very happy, positive pirate... like here. :) And Ringo... I'm not sure if he'd fare well with life at sea, but who knows? He maybe the best pirate of all 4. Someday... in Heaven
hahaha hes all pirate-y, then his voice is all sweet and innocent.
Happy Birthday George
Is that John Halsey on drums? (I'm assuming it is, that would be typical for RWT.) If so, this might be the closest George ever came to his supergroup idea, the Brutles! :-P
Hahahaha absolutely brilliant
3:20 - 4:56 Somebody PLEASE tell me Harrison released that as a single!!!!!
