I love how in multiple animatics, despite being a god with supernatural powers, Poseidon just beats the shit out of Odysseus. 😂

I mean he did insult a god and caused divine retribution by implying his cyclops of a son is not worth the same as a baby

I always laughed at Odysseus being ragdolled by Poseidon in all the animatics I watched lol.

It was my first Epic Animatic that I ever saw and learned through this one about Epic the musical. Also, the reason why Poseidon didn’t chase Odysseus is because he decided to play with his prey and let them off the hook… for now

Seeing this animatic was literally my very first introduction to EPIC, I actually accidentally clicked it and the first thing I heard or noticed was “Poseidon” and I was immediately hooked cause I used to have an obsession with Greek mythology.
I was so blown away by the depiction of Poseidon, I thought it was artistic genius’s but it’s kinda a shame a lot of people don’t understand why he’s being depicted as a horse in this.

Okay some details idk if you noticed but "had you just killed my son but no" is followed by Poseiden taunting Odysseus with the infant he dropped. Also the line "the line between naivety and hopefulness" Odysseus face disappears showing how Poseiden sees him as any other mortal, unimportant and below him. Yes Poseidon let them go most likely because he knows he will hurt more at the loss than if he actually killed him.

So Poesidon just brought Odysseus's fleet from 12 ships with about 586 men, to one ship in bad condition with only 43 men. Think about that. Also, Poesidon will be back.

Yeah, none of this is on them opening the bag. All of this is Odysseus' fault. This is the exact consequences of him doxxing himself.

If wondering why poseidon is a horse he also known god of horses. 🐎
If you remember the song remember them at cyclops saga. Odyssey revealed his name and address for that cyclops smiled. Cyclops told on his dad about Odyssey.
At the song my goodbye Athena was upset by Odyssey he couldn't do his job and after she left that meant she can't protect him anymore.
Now for Odyssey men he used to have 600 minus 6 men died at the cyclops cave and after poseidon drown his men in sea he now left with 43 men left in the crew.

2:30 Aeolis very much DOES explain why not to open the bag.
"Take a look right here at this bag
It has the winds of the storm all trapped
All you gotta do is not open this bag"
The Wind God was willing to help so long os Odysseus played their game. They both agreed to the stakes.

The biggest thing when it comes to the odyssey is that Odysseus was always way too smart for his own good.
He kept thinking that he could just ‘clever‘ his way out of any problem.
I mean, he was able to outsmart and defeat the cyclops, but then because he thought he was so smart he decided to let the cyclops know his name.
And that’s after he already set it up so that he wouldn’t have to face this kind of reprisal. That’s even more maddening part.
He told the cyclops that his name was No-one. So that when he ran to other cyclops for help and they asked him what happened he would answer with No-one cut my eye.
If he hadn’t bragged at the end there and told the cyclops his actual name, he wouldn’t be facing this consequence.

Slight spoilers for Act 2 that didn't come out yet.
Poseidon is not done yet. He would never have mercy on Ody because ruthlessness is mercy upon ourselves. Odysseus shall perish, at least in Poseidon's eyes. He will come back in the worst possible moment. No spoilers when or where he will do that but he will.

iirc the ancient Greeks did not believe in saying "sorry" as part of an apology. Only in justifying their actions and hoping it will be enough.

I love watching people discover Greek epics in this form of a musical. It's not quite accurate but it is SO AWESOME seeing people get hyped about what I was obsessed with in middle and highschool. 🥲
