I must say I was skeptical about Flick's appointment at the start of the season. His reputation had taken a significant knock after his forgettable reign as German NT head coach.
I think that reputation has been fully restored even at this (relatively) early stage of the season. It looks like peak 2020 Bayern all over again.

@@parker-ii7fgThe success of a team largely depends on the compliance of the players.
I recall watching a video of Flick in the dressing room and the players looked so disinterested in him talking at the German national team, I don’t know why.
I feel like it may have had to do with the ego of the players. You can tell Flick is a no nonsense guy and is probably tough on his players so perhaps they didn’t like it? This is all conjecture, so don’t take my word for it.

@@nerminpeskovic3439well he did some things people would generally find weird, like showing a movie about "Graugänse" (greyleg geese) to the team, which became a meme here in germany after people found out. Now i don't know if he stopped these things or if the barcelona players react better to stuff like that, but obviously it's much better now. I guess he's just better as a club coach.
There were issues with player selection and tactics as well, but of course that doesn't mean the players weren't at fault too. It needed some new, hungry players to freshen the team up.

Bartomeu and Rosell were the enemies from the very beginning, I have no fucking clue how the socios voted for president the same two dudes who never stopped saying “we have to end cruyffism”, and antagonized Guardiola every single time until they finally got him to leave the club

they're going to get injured though like they are ultimately children playing against men their bodies are not fully developed like even from this video marc bernal plays 3 games looks fantastic does his acl, i don't know how bad it is but that can obviously be a potentially career ending injury for a 17-year-old
like it's great that they're good enough but they shouldn't be having to play this much at this level it's not good in the long term, you look at again the example of busquets not starting in la liga till he was 20, messi appearing in 7 and 17 games at 17 and 18 respectively as probably the greatest footballer of all time and then these lads who are undoubtedly very good but just normal very good young players are looking at full seasons before even legally being adults
like these midfielders coming in to replace gavi who played 70 games before turning 18 and then was injured and now he has played 14 league games over the past two seasons, pedri missed the majority of his second season and has 110 league appearances at 21, to an extent they're producing academy graduates to replace the burnt-out graduates of 2 years ago

@@theannoyedlink5153 It wasn't those players that caused all that debt. It was a single player: Messi. They paid him hundreds of millions of dollars. He was completely overpaid. No player is worth $130MM. That's 4 Ronaldos or 3 Neymars. Messi was nowhere worth that, even with his marketing power.
Imagine if Bartomeu and management refused to pay him and Messi left. They would be similarly vilified. I don't follow Barca but I'm guessing they had to sign random Brazilians because they couldn't afford anything else. Is that right?

That is why you guys think Messi was the problem. It's all Bartomeu's doing. Yes, his wages was astronomical but his was justified compared to his other teammates. The secret to every big team is a solid midfield that works well together, we saw this with Xavi, busqets and Iniesta , experienced technical and fluid, this was the same with Madrid with kroos, modric and casemiro
Our issues started the moment one our 3 midfielders retired and then we suffered the most last season with busqets also moving on, Madrid on the hand were able to scale through issues because they were able to replace casemiro who was the least technical among the 3 , now that their most important midfielder (kroos) has left its now an issue for them because they don’t have a replacement
We built well with gavi and pedri bet we didn’t have a cdm until Casado and Bernal, now all is needed is time and we should dominate

Its Bartomeu that did terrible job at replacing the mid-field, so thats why Pedri was overplayed that caused a lot injuries. Imagine in 2030 at the World Cup, when Spain has 27 year old Pedri with 25 year old Gavi and 33 year old Rodri in there. Imagine how hard they will dominate their home World Cup then, while they also have 22 year old Yamal, 23 year old Cubarsi and 26 year old Balde in the team. Spain will literally be unstoppable and have easy time winning their home World Cup.

I agree with a lot of things said in this video, but one thing I absolutely don't agree with is saying that Flick's philosophy doesn't align with Barca's DNA, if anything it aligns better than anyone else's. Barca seek to take control of the game and play beautiful football, achieving this with their high press and offensive mindset, Barca aren't just tiki taka, Barca teams since Rinus Michels focus on a high press and offensive football, either by quick transitions and hyper aggressive pressure like Flick, or by super high possession and positional play like Pep.

Barca football is always about embracing and deeply understanding the fundamentals. Cryuff's Dream Team, Pep's Barca were both innovations through a fundamental approach. Flick is doing the same thing - a focus on progressing the ball up the pitch, a high line to squeeze opponents and bolster the intense pressing, and DIRECTness. In today's age of playing out from the back and inverted fullbacks and box midfields, Flick's style is refreshing and simple - and therefore more "Barca"

People somehow always seem so eager to point ou his flaw, but all managers mainly look at his strengths and he has been starting for every manager since his arrival, whenever available, and in a lot of different roles. The double pivot system also really suits him so he should flourish in Flicks Barcelona. It is much more likely that Gavi will be a rotational player. De Jong will be starting whenever possible, unless he is be sold to plug financial gaps, as when fit he is still a player that every manager would want.

@@JustMe-kv9rz Yes, Barcelona has the world best youth development program in the world. They are the opposite of Real, however Barcelona's arrogance is not any less than Real anyway. The situation in Barcelona that I don't typically like is how they are good in periodically because once they have a core developed, it is harder for younger talents to crack the roster.

The fitness narrative has been lost over time and is a serious reason to Barca's success
by all accounts players like Messi/Xavi/Iniesta/Dani Avles were athletic freaks of nature people just dont talk about that cause they dont have the social media Ronaldo esq physics , in the history of football there has probably never been another player who could accelerate and deccelerate faster and stronger than Iniesta and there is definetely no world were a fullback barely 1,70 meters (5.5ft) would be as strong and brutall and stiff like Alves , Messi himself for years was only beatable if you actually full tackled him otherwise he would scuff it up and keep running and both Xavi and Iniesta had the bodies and stamina and constant energy of prime Olympic Athletes despite both of them barely being tall or big enough to hop on a ride at an amusement park
Flick's understanding and focus on Athletic strenght allows players to trully play in their best way , they dont train to have a good looking bodies they train to have good working bodies , thats an area where Ronaldo arguably cost himself because he was "overweight" by putting on unnesecary muscle to cater towards his social media presence , that has helped him now that is old to stay within the limits but wasnt optimal for him for his past years , (same reason why bodybuilders and actuall athletes look nothing alike Nate Diaz looks like a dad who walks to work for a workout and he could run circles around guys double his size who are bodybuilders ffs )

Osasuna were absolutely incredible back at the end of September there.
    Dismantled Barcelona 4-2.
After watching that game I really wasn’t expecting a 4-0 massacre of Real Madrid.
Even after pummelling Bayern in midweek.
It’s like that loss to Osasuna has just switched them up to another level altogether.

Noticeably every dark age for Barca is when they stopped relying on La Masia and every rebirth is when they return to La Masia. When Figo left, they bought a bunch of players and it wasn't really working. Then Frank Rijkaard showed up called up a number of La Masia kids...including Messi. Frank's first year he brought up Valdes and Iniesta. Barca is at its best when La Masia is the foundation but big names from around the world is the compliment. Again Frank with Dinho and Eto'o coming in. Also noteably, the 2 more recent rebirths of Barcelona have been under Laporta. Back when Rijkaard came in and after Bartomeu was kicked to the curb.

The team already won a league (the first one in 4 years) brilliantly with Xavi two years ago with 88 points. Last year we had 85 points.
We would have won more had it not been for dodgy refereeing. I can count off the top of my head several game where we should have been awarded penalties but didn't. At Getafe on Matchday 1, vs Rayo, etc.
Some people are acting as if Flick is inherited a team that did 70 points and struggled to get to champions. The team was already headed in the right direction under Xavi.
