    Jiu-Jitsu is a phenomenal system of fighting with sportive and combative applications. It is important that, as a martial art, it maintains its effectiveness in real world situations, which is why making sure we can defend against a striking opponent is crucial.

    In this video, Eli Knight and Jared Jessup show a couple of ways defending against a striking opponent from inside the guard can lead into triangle opportunities.

    This video is segmented from a new course on punch-proofing your Jiu-Jitsu game. “Bash Me Not” will help practitioners of all levels shut down the ability of the opponent to effectively strike while inside your guard.

    What an amazing content.
    Hi! I'm Yusuke Nagano from Karate Dojo waKu.
    Since we barely have any ground fighting in karate, this is extremely valuable.
    Thank so much for your effort!

    Eli with his own punch block series?! Magnificent! Would you really be going for submissions in a self defense situation though?

    • @patrickb-man1309
      @patrickb-man1309 4 года назад +1

      @Chandasouk
      Why not? If you make a person go unconscious for a few seconds, that affords you time to disengage and get away from them.

      @@patrickb-man1309 Position before submission. I'd never try to fight off my back and play guard. I'm sweeping.

      Submissions have more insurance behind them than strikes. Context dictates tactics, and submissions should be on the table. Whether they are the best route or not depends. Having said that, we just completed a course today with BJJ Fanatics all on disengagements, so I am definitely a believer in whatever offers the best and safest route out of the fight.

    Great 👍🏼 stuff - I think this is essentially what I use in Gi when we put the gloves on, but from a bit of spider guard - very effective...or if they posture up once in the triangle I go for the Rickson Triangle.

    And also instead of sweeping the other option could be an Armbar, anyways, thank you for the vídeo!!
