This video is just based on my experience with missile avoidance in DCS. things that I found work and don't work, when to use different techniques etc.

Radar Guided S300 on the deck: 7:17
Radar Guided S300 Horizontal Weaving: 15:20
Im a pilot, pretty good video.. We do simulated sam launches where we have used up our flares and have an inbound IR sam.. only real option there although not optimal, is to turn into the missle if you can.. Cuts down your heat signature as well as the respone time/capability of the missle.. Can also be done with radar guided.. Usually with radar guided you turn into it and dive down..you showed a good representation of ground clutter to dodge, just be aware of any radar guided AAA or other upcoming ground fire that youre exposed to at lower altitudes.. good video!
catyclasian 2018 thanks man, nice to have a real pilot give his 2 cents on the video. Much appreciated.
in the real Life the missile sees the HEAT from the Flares differently than from the Engine (jet) . the Flares do MORE heat & they r brighter ( I found it interesting ) . the missile can differ so JET from the Flares . I don't know the numbers but let`s say a Pilot has like a 50/50 chance and not 100% of Luck as in films or Games
I also thought about that at lower altitudes this would be protected by Pantsir S or something like that. @Growling Sidewinder can try putting couple of Pantsir S's there two just to see if getting closer to the ground would still work?
I was thinking that myself, but there are also no pantsir systems in DCS. however I have no doubt in my mind I would not survive an encounter with the pantsir system. they are far too deadly.
Pantsir S1 and S2 are vicious..a family friend was also a pilot and flew the F-4E Phantom II in vietnam.. did everything from CAP to ground support to wild weasel missions.. heard a lot of stories about dogfights with migs and in one mission the flight dodged 26 SA-2s fired at them from Hanoi after they crossed Laos heading north to route pack 6..The aircraft had early warning systems on board that would give off an alarm in the headset everytime they were locked on (painted) by enemy radar and then fired at..He told me that after a few missions they would just turn off the volume or shut it off altogether lol too much noise in your ears when youre supposed to be concentrating on what youre doing..I wish i couldve flown the Phantom but did manage a ride in the backseat.. Never seen or felt anything with so much power.....felt like the world was coming to an end..When i did my earlier flight training for my ppl we used simulators with graphics nowhere near as good as yours in this video lol I flew into a military base in Cambodia a few years ago and got to see a few mig-21s up close on the flightline.. pretty cool..
Nice I know how to evade missiles. Can you make a video on how to evade T A X
LOOL
lol
Vote conservative.....
😂
@@scottcarlon6318 oh no, seems like the military needs some new daka.
Never thought about how smart the AI is for SAM sites...definitely taking them more seriously now. Thanks for the video!
AI still needs some more work maybe in the future, glad u enjoyed the video
The guys living in the buildings will appreciate the sonic boom of a fighter jet that just flew past, and missiles flying through the living room...
Stop flying supersonic over my house
sorry man, I'll bank around it next time. didnt mean to disturb ur sleep
:D welcome
Great analysis on Infrared and Rader guidance missile countermeasures! Keep it up.
Colonel Autumn thank u glad u enjoyed it
This video and concepts described there-in pertain to DCS and DCS alone. although some concepts may be applicable to real life I am making no claims that real pilots use these techniques. Thanks for watching and I hope you find the video helpful. or at least entertaining.

I was told by a F-15 pilot when i was in service that they did a serpentine turn but in wave form climb then dive then rinse & repeat. could you try this maneuver & see if he was right?
vocnarsr absolutely. I'll give that a try.
Growling Sidewinder Please make a vid on how this turns out, would love to know the results! thanks.
will do, just give me some time but it will be done.
To truly understand how to evade any missile, once must know how the guidance system works. No better video explains it better than this one... ruclips.net/video/c-FT0T9Ei-4/видео.html
great videos. probably the most informative channel about DCS on YT
now that means a lot, thanks a lot man.
Great video! Very useful to me as a rookie.
The system you referenced on the A-10C is the Missile Warning System and it works alongside the RWR. Using sensors on the nose, tail, and wingtips, it senses the IR energy given off by rocket motors. The MWS gives both an audio warning plus a flashing M on the RWR. It works pretty well but with limitations. It cannot tell the difference between friendly/hostile launches or aerial/surface launches. And it only gives you a warning as long as the rocket is burning. Friendlies using brevity codes (fox, rifle, magnum) helps a pilot correlate a friendly launch with a MWS warning.
Flew the DCS A-1C quite a bit, so when I moved into the F-18 recently, was surprised to learn that the Hornet does not have an MWS.
The A-10C has a MLWS system. It picks up the flash of the rocket exhaust, and warns you. Funny story a buddy of mine was on an MRT team in Afghanistan. They flew them out on Blackhawks. On the way he decided to take a picture of something, and forgot to turn the flash off in his camara. Apparently the MLWS mistook the flash for an IR missile, and warned the pilot, and popped flares. My understanding is the ARMY flight crew were less than happy with him.
Lol
The F18 pilot came from movie “behind the enemy line” should watch this video
It won't work against plot device missiles with infinite amount of fuel.
Mickey G True :p
Bro Owen Wilson did everything he could to dodge them sam's. It isn't his fault they were using cheat codes for infinite energy!
Behind Enemy Lines was based in part on Basher Five-Two, the pilot shot down by a 2K12 Kub over Bosnia while flying an F-16C.
When I first saw the movie I was too young and didnt know much. I watched it again a few months ago, oh god help me how I cringed when that IR missile flew for 100km WITH ENGINE ON and hit and killed the f18
Dude I don't even have, or have played dcs 4 that matter. Doesn't matter I still watch all your videos even if I don't understand what your taking about all of the time. Its because you do such a good job, don't stop you rock man, thanx 4 all the entertainment ,, sincerely Brett !!
thanks a lot man, I really appreciate that. much love.
Glad to see you are talking about probabilities... It's not that stupid "Praise me `cause today I'll bring the one and only way of evading SAM that surely works every single time to you, my fellow Sim-Pilots!"
Really appreciate it!
Thank you for the very nice demonstration! It seems (for a novice like me, at least) that the hiding behind of a hill, if possible, is the most easiest and reliable maneuver. I should approach the target, keeping close to the ridge (if there are any) and go behind the hill once the missile launch is detected.
thank you glad you enjoyed it, and yes if you can hide behind terrain thats ur best bet
this is very helpful as ir missiles especially were a pain in my ass even with countermeasures, usually, I would not throttle down or deploy a small number of flares as I did not think these factors mattered as I thought one of the missiles would randomly go for the flares i did not know I had to make a greater heat signature, thanks =)
Excellent video, flying the Viggen primarily I've gotten all too familiar with flying as low as the terrain allows
Thanks for the video. Good stuff !
glad you enjoyed it
Growling Sidewinder I love the cinematic footage .
Thanks man, glad you enjoyed it.
You just proved what missiles are, lol, still digesting your ecm. Great video to rewatch and learn, ty!
Another gr8 and very valuable lesson, keep it up! :)
thank you brother.
Hi GS, Another informative video! I love your tutorials. Thanks
thanks zack. glad you enjoyed it man
Excellent tutorial! All advice is sound. Hardest thing is detecting IR missiles in time when you are flying low and they just launch on you!
With the SA-2 being released, I think we should have scenarios around SEAD w/ dumb bombs and rockets until we get more advanced toys and can actually hunt down S-300's :).
ahha i do not like the idea of going after SAM sites with rockets and bombs. pretty sure you will die 9 times out of 10
That's why I suggested this with SA-2 and not an SA-10 :).
You can hunt down an S-300 today, with guns even if you wanted, it's just a matter of setting up the right parameters. If you have the opportunity to use terrain masking and you don't have a short range SAM/AAA threat you can get right on top of anything and kill it (though I wouldn't try to use slick bombs or anything that you'd have to pop up more than a thousand feet to use). It's pretty situation specific, you can't control how many of which air defenses get placed in what type of terrain, but it sure is fun when you pull it off successfully.
If your strategic SAM are protected by shorter range SAM this will be tough. On it's own, an S-300 site would be vulnerable to this maybe if you got in close enough.
It'll be interesting when we get HARM in the game.. wonder if it'll still be hard to take out SAM sites. I'd imagine an S-300 site would take several HARM to get through it's defenses.
I don't care if it's a year ago and may be problem fixed.....great comment and I hope.it was tAken care.of......
Thanks for making this video, its really useful!
ur very welcome Im glad you found it helpful
Nice video! Those IR missiles are tricky since you don't get a obvious warning - unless the plane has it. Yes it can be spotted visually but it seems like a big gamble since you don't know if a SAM threat is actual in a area at all times.
Heyyy!!! Welcome back to RUclips! Great video! I’ve just learnt new stuff.👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻. At least it’s better than not learning anything new😂😂😂. F 18s are now my favorite fighter aircraft 😆😆😆
P.S. this is way more fun than maths class. 🤭
Amazing video.
A tatic that I use against enemy planes missiles is to break left or right, keep a 90° angle from it and climb full afterburner... to make the missile bleeds energy. Usually it works. I drop some countermeasures too.
Brilliant vid as always, appreciate the step by step approach. You’ve made me think more of briefings, having kneeboard plan, with what to avoid, get better with the chaff flare programming etc. Up to now I’ve enjoyed simple missions..this look more fun.....but I’ll be keeping aircraft producers busy. Thank you
glad you enjoyed it. thanks for the feedback
It's been a while sinse I had my eyes glued to an youtube vido like this. Google, thanks for recommendation algorythms, and of course thank you for the content. Would be really cool to see something like S-400 vs F35 (not sure if they are in DCS though lol, probably not).
Hi there thanks so much for the kind feedback, I'm very glad you enjoyed it. unfortunately as you said, there is no s400 or f35 in DCS. however I do plan on bringing much more content like this in the future. maybe multiple s300 sites even the f14 see how she fairs against the s300s
Nice tutorial.
Another scenario where you would want to stay high even after missile launch is if you were using stand-off glide weapons to engage a target, as fast & high gives you more range. You'd still want to head for the deck ASAP, and have Scotty beam you into a Viper instead of this slow-assed toad of a Hornet, but you'd have to stay high & fast until you had a good shooting solution.
S300s fly at ~ Mach 8, so no barrel rolling against them is going to work - probably - but against Mach 3-4, at least IRL, it does work, although CJs carry towed decoys as well. (DRFM decoys would also work). I hope barrel rolls work in DCS, because they've saved hundreds of pilot's lives IRL.
A Mirage 2000C with DDM sensors on the rails for the Matra Magic can detect IR missile launches. Just be advised that it going off doesn't necessarily mean a missile is coming for you, it's just that the sensor has picked up a launch within its cone.
like the mws of the a10c
Love your vids. Keep them coming !
I love the intro man. Awesome!
thanks man
Awesome! crazy demonstration
Carlos Garcia glad u enjoyed it
Notification squad..
I cannot get enough of these videos...
the best squad. lol thanks for ur support
8:06 onwards. like a movie. SO COOL.
A-10C has MLWS, it detects all missile launches around you. That unfortunately means it will scream at you even if those are wingmen firing mavericks (which is why it's important to call Rifle)
This video is awesome and really useful, I didn't know any of this before watching!
Would you consider doing the same kind of video for Air to Air missiles aswell? Would help me (and others, I'm sure) out a lot.
I have trouble doing dogfights against multiple contacts (like the first F-18 mini-campaign mission, where it's 2*F18 vs 2*Mig29 and a few TU's)
I will Deff look into doing that. glad you enjoyed the video, thanks for your support.
IIRC the A-10c's missile warning system goes off whenever any missile is fired regardless what it's shot at.
excellent thanks for that clarification i'm not an A10 expert at all
Yep, that's why you declare your 'Rifle's. It's especially annoying with friendly attack helicopters for example in the campaigns, because the MWR is beeping every few seconds - making you miss the enemy IR launch...
Another informative vid. Rip Hornet driver .. ;)
I love your analysis. Thanks and respect from Russia.
hey there thanks leo, glad you enjoy the content man.
Once again, thank you. I wish that Russian missiles hit American planes only in computer games, and our military was measured by force only at an air show.
It's really really helpful for me. Thank you for sharing your valuable information. I have just subscribed you!!
That is very helpful. Thank you.
Nice white livery!
Love you channel man... quick question... Is there any indicator in the f/a 18 or other aircraft that alert to the presence of IR SAM sites at all or do you have to have visual to even know there's a threat? Maybe I just need to study preflight briefings more lol
some planes like the a10c warn u about missile launches (any launch of any missile) but they have built in sensors for that, I do not believe the hornet has them, so yes u do have to make visual contact to see the missile launch. you can take comfort in the thought that IR SAMs are relativity short range, so you SHOULD be able to spot a launch. especially if ur flying low to the ground...gotta keep ur head on a swivel. and thanks for ur support on the channel man its much appreciated.
Growling Sidewinder No problem brother... I actually work in marketing and video production and your intro/logo reveal with the missile lock growl is a definite winner... I'll see you in the skys one day.. when i upgrade my freaking dsl internet. Country life though :)
IR SAMs are passive, which means they don't emit a signal to track you. You don't know they're there until they've fired.
For the RF SAMs, attack the Doppler Notch, go perpendicular to the radar.
Very cool !
I will try it !
Thanks
Should have gone vertical (down and 6) with your tails between your legs with the second wave of that SA-10. I know I would have 😅
Did you know in DCS the radar based SAMs are basically 50% watered down versions of their real-life counterparts?
What do you mean by going "gone vertical (down and 6) with your tails between your legs "
@@pixel8122 a split S manueuver.
I used to play Cold Waters. Torpedo évasion is similar. Drop “noisemakers” (they make submarine sounds to confuse sonar) when you make a turn. You turn IN to get out of the seeker cone, diving up and down to lose it at a different depth. Or outturn it getting out of the torpedo sensing cone.
I love that game. Especially after reading Red Storm Rising.
Next one on how to attack sites!
were going to have to wait until they add that capability for the hornet
Growling Sidewinder we need a nice EA-18G
Great and very useful thanks
Very interesting I’m saving this one!!!!
I used to play EA Fighters Anthology... Wish the various SAM and decoys were as variable as this sim!! Nice instruction anyhow. And yes, it would be nice if every existing US tactical platform had an available modern MAWS sys integrated as standard kit, hello ?
Yes S300 to escape it in the middle, high, low altitude little chances. In very low altitude is a game-changer because operators, who navigate it to target lose the radar contact. Russians have S400, S400M, and new S500 installed to protect Moscow, Crimea - won't work for a single attacker.
Loved it. Hehe now try the same with SHORAD and S-300 please :P
Thank you very much for sharing
Would like to see a video with an IDZ scenario. During Vietnam it was AAA that brought down more aircraft than SAMs. They used the integrated defense zone concept. Iraq did the same thing. When you defend against the missile by going low it would take you into the AAA. Anyway just a thought.
That AA Russian Missile sistem, the mighty S-300, is the one used by Venezuela. I had thought that it had a range of 250 Km.
DCS ranges are different than real life, the real S300 has a much greater range and is far more difficult to defeat
SA2 avoidance is put them on the beam and then yoyo up and down beginning at a very low frequency / large turns then increase the frequency as the missile gets closer. If you see the missile try get the rythm so that the last seconds before it hits you are in a dive and can yank up while the missile is going down. So that is avoiding a stupid long range missile. How long this strategy works as you go towards each more modern SAM type I don't know. But usually vs radar seekers using doppler radar you beam the missile and drop chaff. If you do it right you will dissapear until you do something wrong and you will appear again.
If you want to turn into a missile that just been launched short range and go head to head with it then experiment with flying in a spiral towards it dropping flares.
If the missile reach you when it is at top speed and refuses to get spoofed by chaff or flare then good luck.
Oh I forgot about jammers, turn them on and off back and forth it might confuse the missile..
Looking forward to a mission where the SAM site is the target. An S300 site will do nicely :) Put the S300 crew in Ace mode :)
Some free info:
Chaff is made of aluminum because it reflects radar beams confusing the ground based radar making it see something and then it disappears (chaff is finely cut aluminum stripe like particles that are very tightly packed into a round canister, and aircraft can host several hundreds of them like the A10)
Theres a whole world out there of radars, not only limited to anti-air purposes. www.radartutorial.eu
Fantastic video, tks!!
Good video. On one thing I would disagree tho: when you were talking about accidentally wondering into the S300 envelope, you say you think it would be wise to turn right into the missile. In my opinion it is way safer to simply keep turning left away from the missile until you have done a full 180 degree turn... making it impossible for missiles to hit you.
i think I only turn back in for the demonstration purposes. I've heard some stuff from real pilots (can't confirm) about turning into missiles, but it deff doesnt work in dcs. unless theyre way low on energy. I don't remember saying that, but if I did I misspoke and thats my bad.
@Growling Sidewinder Turning into the missile is a technique that is used when the missile itself is very close and dependent on the missile you are flying against. Some of the older long range SAM's had significantly lower g tolerances than the ones faced today, it has to do with the lead logic and flight characteristics of the missile. If you used a well timed pull at max g into the missile with it on your lift vector the missile would either not be able to pull enough lead because of the aspect change, or it would depart from controlled flight. It does in actually work in DCS depending on the missile coming at you, but most of the missiles can in fact be defeated with the same concept using either orthogonal or concentric barrel rolls with countermeasures. The SA-15 and SA-10 are the two systems that are difficult to defeat using those techniques though.
They should have hired GS as an expert for the final top gun maverick evasion scene. It could have been done so much better then.
Just a note. In RL SA-9 had EO sensor bit it uses visible light not IR.
Good video dont stop ;-)
DEAD or SEAD mission will be great
Its interesting that the last IR missile flew a lead pursuit, as I thought these types of missiles would normally fly lag pursuit as the heat source is greater at the rear..mmm
Good stuff!
I'm pretty sure you can set up completely arbitrary CM drop intervals if you edit the programs in the ini file rather than in cockpit.
Super Thank you
When flying close to the ground but not doing a 180° turn you might instead wanna try to keep the radar site on your 90° or 270° (so on your 3 or 9). This way you have the best chances of fooling the radar thinking you are the ground
really informative video. really good content recently! 1 question though: is there any good way of spotting threats within pvp/any server where enemy isnt on map and without awacs? Thanks!
glad you enjoyed it, i'm assuming ur refering to IR homing threats...I'd say, intel, (so knowing ur going into an area where there is air defenses) and when ur in that zone, keeping ur head on a swivel constantly scanning. especially behind you.
What about cranking, beaming, notching? Does air to air missile evasion tactics apply here? Also, due to the Doppler shift, shouldn’t you chaff only when perpendicular to radar source?
ruclips.net/video/IFoz6NXBR2w/видео.html
hmm strange info using dcs developers cause what I know ss300 is range 300km not 65km :) But nice video anyway!
And in the real world, the close range Pantsir defenses would have turned you into shishkebab :)
Because missiles need adequate energy to be a potent threat, this makes SAMs almost useless, because their true effective range (in which they have enough energy) is significantly reduced if they can only launch at range where their missiles will still have 1+ mach right?
no. I dont want to make it sound like the SAM is only effective at mach 1. I've been hit by sams traveling at mach 0.3 lol. it all depends on YOUR energy vs the missile. if you have poor energy management the missile can still hit u at a far distance cuz you'll be a slow moving target.
are radar guided SAMs typically semi-active or active radar homing? you may have mentioned it in the video, if so I missed it.
Honestly all i do is push the throttle to the wall and go vertical, it generally works
So thats WHY I keep getting shot down. Forgot my FLRS.
Low orbit satellite imaging + naval based artillery should take care of that pesky sam
Thanks for another great video but I thought S3000 had a range out to the hundreds of K's?
Hi thanks glad u enjoyed it. Its been toned down in DCS for balancing reasons lol.
Makes sense, otherwise it would cover the whole map eh?
You'd get slotted before wheels up! lol.
Wouldn't that be S-400? At least wikipedia says s300 had like 60 miles of coverage.
Great video mate .. Does the turning to put the radar on your 3/9 line to remove the doppler effect the radar uses to track you?
Just a thought. Ecm and 3/9 line may break the initial missile lock. :)
Keep making .. :)
Obviously radar mate. Works in BMS
Thanks I thought of that but i'm sure, i'll give it a try and if it works i'll make another video
Growling Sidewinder I think your chaff usage is incorrect. The whole point of chaff is to give the enemy radar extra contacts to choose from in the foreground of the sky. However the chaff move at almost zero relative velocity so if you are not putting the radar on the 3/9 line you are still giving the Doppler radar a positive signature of your plane. If you dump chaff on the 3/9 line the radar has x amount of contacts to choose from and all of them read the same so it is more likely to be fooled.
You make the F/A-18 look soooo sexy!
Wrote a long reply.... got judged up so,anyway...(ur spared).. good vid...dad flew Hawkers ww2....small time in the spit
...reply got judged up... n.e. way.........keep it up fun to learn and watch...
This tactview program is very useful, what version you are using?
great vid! what about turning your radar OFF when attacked by S300s?
as far as I know in DCS, that would have no effect. s300 missiles are not anti radiation homing, sooo turning ur radar off would just make you blind when the s300 fires at you lol. its locking onto radar beams reflected off the surface area of your plane. the best you can do is turn ON ur ECM.
indeed. S300 has a separate search radar module and a separate track radar module. The search radar finds you from the sky, gives the direction to the track radar which locks you up. Once locked, the missile goes away and follows the reflected radar beam from your plane. I believe the search radar can start searching for next target as this is happening.
if the track radar is destroyed, the search radar alone is not enough to make the missiles find their target. this is why I like the BUK-system better, as the launchers have their own little radars incase the track radar unit gets blown away.
I guess, if you wait till the missile is close and then launch the single flare, it will be more effective.
How many Gs do all those turns put on during that horizontal weave?
You should the same vid but with the new gen5 plane
I don't know if this is a real tactic or not but for IR missiles I go full afterburner to bait out a shot so aircraft or Sams fire earlier than if I wasn't in afterburner and then power down and drop flares.
Ya that’s good, but if the Sam is smart it will wait for a certain range to fire not just a lock. But if it works for you that’s really all that matters lol.
@@GrowlingSidewinder Good to know. I just joined your patreon, see you in discord sometime!
Orangebike666 awesome man thank you I’ll see u there boss
Wooooooh wtf gamer the shit has evolved graphics are soooo realistic.
Wow.... 25 years ago you needed a 400,000.00 SGI RACK to render a scenerio. Now you can do the same thing on a 700.00 PC or a phone. Wow.... I remember when you wanted to talk to a conmputer, you had to punch a card fulla holes.
how do you tell that an ir missile is on its way to hit your plane? the rwr only pics up radar locks right?
some aircraft have different systems other than RWR that can tell when a missile is launched, they use the heat source of the fuel of the missile to detect a missile launch (which means they will often warn about friendly missile launches too that might not be at you)(the A10 has such a system I believe) if your aircraft doesn't have this kind of system then you have to visually see the missile launch and notice the lack of RWR tone to realize its IR.
@@GrowlingSidewinder gotcha, I guess it's time to invest in either track ir or VR, The amount of times that I've been shot down by ir missiles is turning DCS into a horror game lmao
It is all easier to say than done :). How do I know when to start an evasive maneuver with S300 for example. If it fires from it's max distance it will be a different time, and if it fires from, like, 1 mile it will be a different time reaction. It should be not too hurried and not to late, but ... - Is there any way to know how far the missile is and to quicky "calculate" when to break? (if you're lucky to eyeball it, which is not always granted)...
if an s300 fires on u from 1 mile away just eject lol. u just just go defensive the second you think a SAM has been fired at you. don't treat it like behind enemy lines when theres a specific moment to break, as soon as you get that launch tone, just dive for the ground and go defensive.
Thanks, I'll excercise it. Was s300 actually employed in combat anywhere yet - in any of it's configuration?
My pleasure, the s300 systems are active in syria, and have been "reported" to have shot down some western (either US french of British) cruise missiles. the reports are unconfirmed tho. and if war breaks out between Russia and Ukraine you will probably see them used very extensively.
What are your preferred countermeasure profiles for chaff and flare respectively? What interval and how many repetitions do you use?
tbh I like to do it manually based on threat, unless I'm preforming a bomb run in which case its 1 flare every 1 second for 8-15 seconds depending on duration of the run.
its so amazing how it use real physic to track. not like otjer games it has no calculation
what's the map please or whats area where you played this war? because iam beginner I don't know any thing about this game I will buy the game tomorrow
Can you please have some reasearch and make a video on how IAF cariied a successful strike against Pakistan in Balakot in 2019 ?
Great video.
Does DCS have tac view or is that another software you are using ?
Thanks
its an add on to DCS. (paid)
Oh cool.. is it public and available for purchase?
juanjo12el yes sir. That's correct
Thank you sir! I still do not know the name, just dcs tac view? do you mind dropping the link ? thanks !
www.tacview.net/product/about/en/
Wish i could get into dcs
I still just play the kiddy ones like Ace combat 7
It sure takes some real practice, but there's a really steep learning curve. Also, I play DCS on a 1 year old LAPTOP and it runs okay. I can't do really heavy missions and graphics aren't fantastic, but actually okay. ED has done a great job tuning DCS so that people with sub-par computers like myself can play and enjoy themselves
If you hadn't created this scenario, how would you know which type of missile had been fired, and therefore which countermeasures to apply?
IR homing will give you no tone in the plane. u have to SEE it visually. Radar guided will have give u lock tone and missile launch tone in plane. soooo if you hear a loud beeping drop chaff, if you hear nothing but see a white streak coming at you...drop flare.
@@GrowlingSidewinder Oh ok, I never realized IR SAM's can turn up out of nowhere!
Spasmomen now u know man
