Grandpa's Killer V8 Turbo Lincoln Hits The Streets For The First Time!

- Опубликовано: 15 май 2024
- We're building the Ultimate Sleeper out of a very plain 1998 Lincoln Mark VIII! It was just another Grandpa's Lincoln until we got ahold of it. It's pushing 20PSI of boost through a fully built 4.6 V8, and it makes well over 600HP at the crank. Watch Tony Angelo and the Stay Tuned crew upgrade the entire rear suspension and driveline so that it can handle all that new turbo Horsepower! After all the mods, it's out on the street to see what it can do!
Thanks to our buddy Chris from No Nonsense Know How for stopping by and giving us a hand! Look out for some collab content with him coming soon, and check out his channel:

Dude that thing is a badass sleeper ripper! Great meeting you and hanging for a bit. Thanks for the tacos
Any time! Thanks for the help man! Hang soon!
The people love the specail guest star apperance…..thank you, come again!!!
What a surprise to see you in the video. I've been following you & Jen for awhile now 👍
Chris is awesome! Love the collab
Love me some NNKH!
My pappy said, "Son, you're gonna' drive me to drinkin'
If you don't stop drivin' that Hot Rod Lincoln."
Hot damn!
Here we go ! I've been waiting on the Hot Rod Lincoln. Grandpa doesn't play around when it's stiff ,he gets serious.😂😂
Let's GOOOO!!!!
Grandpa on meth and N²O sounds so southern 😅
“Stiff and serious grandpa”. 🤣 Viagra is some amazing stuff!
And it didn’t break!!!
@@danmyers9372 Maybe this car should be called Viagra
Best Damn Car Show on the internet.
Thank you, kindly!
You're not wrong.
For reals! ❤
Subjective
I'm from the UK and so this car is not plain at all, it's stunning to look at. It deserves to be as powerful as it looks.
These were known as grandpa cruisers here, but they're VERY underrated. Great engine & very comfortable
@@TheTulerie I think grandpa knew his cars.
@@TheTulerie These are panther chassis cars like Crown Vic, right ?
@@assaultlick2169 No. They're the same as the 10th gen Thunderbird chassis. The panther platform is a body on frame, solid rear axle. Thunderbird is a unibody, independent rear suspension.
@@TheTulerie Thanks, i thought i might be way off
Nice seeing Chris there too he's a hell of a mechanic too~
No way! Chris from No Nonsense Know How is helping this week?!?!. He's the best, can't wait to see all you crazy guys working together. Plus getting that stodgy Lincoln roasting tires (ahem, again) is awesome!
Thank you very much Tony for mentioning my name on your show for the 4.6 built engine i did
The fact you quit motortrend and moved back home for the reasons you did and now doing your own thing is awesome love your in the Appalachia hills makes it feel like you are in my back yard here in West by God..... if u know where that is
lol Every time this pops into my feed "hot rod Lincoln" automatically plays in my head, even the very first episode. Look forward to every one so far.
HA, yeah I wish we could get the right to that one.
Hope my diff mount works out well for you guys! Only other one in existence right now is bolted up to my supercoupe but i definitely do no have near the horsepower of this beast, great idea to run the bolts in the other direction! ❤
Came to the comments hoping to find out more info on the bracket, do you have a website?
What!?!?!! NNKH Chris brown in the house. The man is a legend.
So happy to see you and the other legend Tony Angelo working together. Only good things can happen from here.
Love the body lines on those. Tbird, mark 8 are totally underrated
Watching you guys is motivating me to work on my car while I'm in recovery from spinal surgery. I can't put too many hours in yet, but an hour a day is still progress
Heal up! Mine is inoperable ill be a gimp rest of my life. Frustrating
I'm a school bus mechanic and you guys have me saying: we're gonna lose the shop! While I'm at work when things get hectic. 🤣
Anyone else remember the song "Hot Rod Lincoln"? 39 and my parents listened to the oldies.
Yes yes, of course! My Mom says it to me everytime this car comes up.
Son you going to drive me to drinking If you don't stop driving that, hot-rod-Lincoln...
My friend Chris's Step dad mentioned it to me in high-school, when I was having to use my dad's extra car at the time. It was a 90 or 91 Lincoln Town car and I've had the song on my Playlist since pretty much 😆
The original or Commander Cody's cover (imo better than the original).
Dug it as a kid, Cash "one piece at a time"...lots of good hot rod tunes from back then.
Pretty cool seeing Chris NKNH hanging at the garage gym.
OMG NNKH was on here I don't even remember him talking about jumping on stay tuned. This dude is 1 hell of a mechanic.
Loved the collab with Vice Grip but even happier to see Chris in this one! His channel got me into these car channels. Extremely knowledgeable guy, great to see him hangin with you guys 👍
Saw Tool a few months back (8th time in 6 years) and just went to Maynards Sessinta bday tour with Primus ,A perfect Circle and Puscifer in Nashville 2 nights ago!!
I remember a fella, Geno, that had a Mark VIII called the Terminviiitor back in 99-2000 in Jersey. It was purple with a hood scoop and a moulded wing on the deck lid. It was bad ass! Love Mark 7 and 8s and loving this build Tony. 🛠️
Great to see Chris working with you guys.
HellYeah Boys!! Thanks for waiting till I got home!🤣🤣🤣. Can’t wait to see Ripper-ham Lincoln tear it up. Beer and a Slice Time! Ready to Stay Tuned🤘🤘🔥🔥🔥
Let's GO bud! Playing with a little later release time! It's SO FAST.
@@StayTunedTAI ain’t gonna complain. Like I said I had time to make it home. New Bank job keeps me till 5 now. 🍺🍕
I wish I didn't sell mine. Sold for $500 because I didn't need the car and it had a ignition switch problem. Regrets are real
@@williambranco7710You ain’t kidding. I had the chance to pick one up cheap and went with a 96 Monte Carlo instead. Huge mistake 🤣🤣🤣
I'd really like one of these with a stock coyote and 10r80...maybe a blower lol
That birthday whiskey has got Barb painting like a mad man! 🤘🔧
HAHA, yeah he was all hyped up!
Love seeing Chris from NNKH there. Thats the Glorified Thunder Chicken right there
"This ain't your grandpa's Lincoln"! Great stuff as always guys.
That's right grandpa's car stiff and serious
Begezzzus. I don't even want to know what that thing would do cruising at 75 mph then matting it. It's shaped like a bullet. Fantastic video with great effort. Thanks guys! 🎉
I’m a Volkswagen guy and theres a ton of cool old vw stuff in Pennsylvania and if there’s one thing I’ve learned from tony it’s DONT BUY FROM THE NORTH EAST. I’m from Texas and it doesn’t really get better than my local area. Love the show fellas!
If you guys can get a smaller A/R turbine housing that fits that same turbo it will help spool a bunch. No idea what the turbo is but there could be wheel options that would allow you to help as well.
Chris is the man, watched his stuff for years. Do a colab for sure!
That is one of my favorite Body styles from Lincoln. My first car when i turned 16 in 1999 was a
1992 Ford Thunderbird Sport that had a 5.0 HO In it. It was a one owner car that an old lady drove it had 72,000 original miles on it. I love my Dad for getting for me but now as I'm older and have two girls of my own i think what was he thinking giving a 16 year old kid that car lol I probably went through 2 sets of rear tires that first summer. Wish i didn't live in Michigan the winters ate the rocker panales right off it. My father passed away 2 years after he got it for me so that will always be one of my favorites.
Also never got cought speeding but i was leaving a four way stop and never seen the cop as i lit the tire's up until I passed him and got a un safe tire street noise ticket lol. Dang young kid's
19.4 million views and counting. !!! Hell Yeah T/A & crew 🍕🍺
Keep up the excellent work guys. Best automotive channel on RUclips!
Wow, thanks! Appreciate!
Love the NNKH collab! Never pictured him being on the channel, long time fan of his! Can't wait for a future collaboration!
Great shot of the hydraulic press in the background as you beat bushings in with a hammer, and then a time lapse of vice bushing installs.
Chris is an excellent Machanic and above average trouble shooter
The diff needs a spreader to rebuild those style differentials. I wish I could come to visit you always have great pies.
Yessir, that's why we sent it off to be setup.
I've always LOVED those big ol Lincoln's. Go back to the 1930's and follow them to the current day and you'll find few to match them for styling and comfort. Yes,, they're boats but watching what Tony and his buddys are doing flat out excites me!!
This is too freaking cool!!!
You just know Tony is a guy who has built so many cool cars when he's willing to put this kind of effort into something so awesomely odd-ball
Nice! Chris from NNKH is one of my other fav channels. Glad to see you guys working together. Philly forever!!!!!
appreciative for you sharing useful information with everyone!
Wasn't expecting to see NNKH here, sweet!
Dude. Sick. We need more NNKH on ST!
Hey its chris………that guy is a fricken genius, considering he claims he isnt a mechanic…….he is one sharp whippersnapper!!!
Was that a Dead Milkmen reference in there?!! Very nice! 😮
Simply awesome guys! Thanks for the down to earth content getting/ keeping me motivated to work on my own stuff!
Sent a pie or two for the awesomeness that is this channel. Being a mustang guy I've always wanted to upgrade the mark 8. I will stay tuned 👍
Appreciate you big time! Thanks
It has what the fox body lacks for street driving, the independent rear suspension. Kinda like Matt Farah's black one, the irs.
@@StayTunedTA you gotta tell us where that pie is from though you normally mention it

Almost losing the shop
Yeah because the common man has 10 grand laying around 😂😂 sure
@@RejectReality97 priorities. A lot of people waste 10k a year. Don't get married and have kids at 20 helps too.
Tony your channel has made my Friday nights up here in Canada. Cheers boys!!!
Tony! As a mod motor guy, I'd warn you that the OEM timing systems are pretty weak, most notably when hitting or staying on the limiter. The secondary chain is prone to breaking, and the stock tensioners are ratcheting and oil pressure actuated. They will over extend and lock on the furthest tooth during limiter/2 step, putting excessive stress on the timing guides and chain, with no way to retract, almost always breaking one or more guides. The vibrations alone from high RPM/limiter/2 step can also break the guides.
There are upgraded billet guides, the best being Shelby Mike, but pricey. Wonder Racing also makes some, as well as modified tensioners. They have the last few teeth ground off and a spacer added to prevent over extension and locking out. Accufab makes secondary chains and billet tensioners, but once again, pricey. I would avoid MMR like the plague.
There are Facebook groups dedicated to mod motors. Todd Warren is a great guy to get in contact with, he has been in the mod motor game since the beginning (20+ years). He sells parts through apocalypse performance, and is a member of most mod motor groups on Facebook.
Man, 3.55s? I would think 3.90-4.10 would still behave on the highway with that high-ass OD and be BRUTAL on the strip. Also, I'm not Italian AT ALL, German and 'black Dutch' (darker complected, dark hair and eyes), with green eyes and a red (and grey/white now at 38) beard, but I take Italian food VERY seriously. I absolutely make 'Sunday gravy' and I grow and can my own San Marzano tomatoes and Genovese basil, among other Italian-ass things. I respect the gravy-pie, haha!
3.55 gears will build boost sooner in rpm than a 3.90 4.10 gear. There is a give and take though 3.55 is probably the sweet spot.
I’ve had 4 cars with 4v 4.6l: Cobra, Mk8, Mach 1, Marauder; with the nature of the engine torque curves they need at least 3.73 gears to come off the line like into party time quickly. I’ve used gears from 3.08- 4.10 and power ranges from 300-550hp.
Never did a turbo build, but the engine is lazy down low with poor exhaust velocity and I would suspect more gear would let the turbo spool faster than more load. The car is heavy enough to load the turbo, especially with an automatic, it needs engine rpm to get it to breathe and spin the turbine. A 3500rpm stall converter w/3.55 might be a good compromise, I can’t remember what Tony put in there.
Dude! Pizza, Punk Rock, and Performance! (That could be a shirt?) Love this build! As always, love your sense of humor Tony! Glad you didn't lose the shop! Keep up all the great work! I look forward to your videos on Fridays.
Mathew Mcconaughey is watching somewhere in Austin right now, rock hard saying “all right, all right, all right”
Wooot heck yeah Chris, NNKH baby. it was a nice surprise seeing you on here dude!
NNKH in the house!!!! Another awesome collaboration. At one point in time I was searching for one of these Lincoln’s but I couldn’t find one I wanted. Just another cool vehicle I probably won’t have time to own.
One of my favorite cars of all time ......Thank you Mr.Angelo
This is becoming one of my favorite channels ....you guys' rock.
COME ON TONY TRANSBRAKE AND TWO STEP BABY!!!
AFTER the nitrous for the bottom end :)

Wow! Glad you stuck with it!
You guys overcame a lot of problems to get this car go'in in the right direction. It was all worth it. Can't wait to see some track times with it!
Wired up a 1932 Hudson Terra plane t this week with all the updated power goodies. Shows like this and vice grip helped to motivate me and not be intimidated. Thanks fellas
I was a detailer at a Lincoln dealership when they came out. They where the shyt back then. This is a great day in Lincoln mods. Hopefully everything works inside they were pretty slick then.

Wild 😂😂 that burnout was nuts 😎
This is my favorite build of your so far. Love the syclone on the cheap but this just sounds so sick. The boys kill it again
Great build. Always wanted one of these. Best sleeper ever. Get it to come off the line, and you could have a fun 1/4 mile weekender.
Y'all that thing looks like an absolute blast. Thank y'all for bringing us some awesome entertainment. Really really enjoying y'all's channel.
Got to love a sleeper. I always can’t wait for Fridays for stay tuned and VGG to upload.
love all the hard work you put in your videos, awesome content!!
That thing rips! Little bit higher stall converter and it would launch like crazy. Awesome once again!
This is so badass man! I always wanted to build one of these. It’s awesome getting to see it come to life!
Lovin the Mark VIII content! They're certified rippers for sure!
Gotta take that down the track one time to see what it puts down! Fun vid!
Hell yeah boys, nice build!! Have a killer weekend!!
As a lover of old Mark VII's and VIII's i cant t explain how much ive enjoyed this build! Nothing like a hot rod Lincoln.
I watch no none sense channel also. I have watched you sense the motor trend days.
Awesome! We just realized he's super close, we might slap a turbo on that Fury wagon in the coming weeks.
@@StayTunedTA sounds great man. And would it be OK if could do a youtube channel shoutout if I buy your shop a few pizzas?
I do believe this is my favorite build on the channel. Sike Clone is really cool, love the turbo v6, but I think this is the complete package
Happy Birthday 🎂 🥳 🎉 🎈 🎁 🎊 🎂 Barb!!!!
Good to see Chris NNKH in the shop!
That is one Hot Rod Lincoln! I love it! Well done guys!
Been watchin ya for over 10 years now, since Roadkill started. Just found your channel the other day, cant wait for that Nascar V8!
My favorite automotive channel. Great video, cool to see Chris in your shop as well
I love how you are always showing the different pizza from PA My wife grew up there in Scranton PA I'M In my 40's now but when we we're 16 her mom took us down there because I'm from Michigan but that sweet pizza is something i have never tasted like it in my life
very satisfying :) thanks for all you hard work guys. good job. You got the job done! while having fun
Real dialed tune and little shot for the bottom end that thing's in high 4 0-60 and I can see Tony taking it in the 10's with a good day at the track tuning everything else.
It's gonna be awesome, will probably run a heavy day at the track now, so long as the cooling system's up to that task.
I have very little clue what I'm talking about 😊 but if it's doing low 5s now I reckon it'll do better than high 4s no?
Good to see NNKH Chris on helping out.
