Don’t Build THIS Car! Reviving My Rusty Nissan 240SX - Tony Angelo’s Stay Tuned
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 31 май 2024
- On this episode of Stay Tuned, Tony and the boys put together a grassroots style drift car, the hard way! They take a proven SR20DET powertrain from a RUSTY 240SX coupe, and install it in a CLEAN, rust-free 240SX hatch, complete with cage, wide-body kit, and all the goodies. Can they get this 25 year old JDM engine up and running? Will it have what it takes to make big power, and get ready to rip on track? Stay Tuned to find out!

Awesome to see you guys feature a JDM mainstay like the SR20 and S13. This series has become the sole automotive related show that I actually care about when new content releases. Keep up the amazing work!
Thanks for watching! Just doing whatever is fun these days, glad you like it!
What about vice grip garage?
@@fallofthezombies1379 Derek did a good job interviewing Tony.
Thank you for letting me a part of the project!
You are a og Jimmy been watching all of you guys since the old days. And love your new coming friends djnoway and more
Jimmy O has no ceiling. Love to see it.
Thanks for coming out bud! Had a blast, you are a Wizard. See you on track soon!
Your the man jimmy
Been waiting for this one! Gotta watch anything Jimmy O!
I'm just so happy Hagerty grabbed TA, these videos are awesome! Hot Rod Garage was cool and all, but seeing Tony happy in his own little nook is entertaining on a whole new level.
Nah, HRG was much cooler. It had more Lucky and less "east coast" vibe if you know what I'm saying.
@@RSCamaroBlack I hear & respect what you're saying. That said, pretty sure that's why we think this is cooler 😉
You and RSCamaro are both kind of right. I know Lucky is a west coast G, but I can't help feeling like he would be right at home here. Tony and Lucky's on cam dynamic was refreshingly original because they both were there for the cars. Not the fame. You could tell they really didn't know each other in the beginning but came to appreciate and respect each other at the end. Like finding that one guy(or girl) at work that has the same sense of humor as yours. Maybe Lucky will show up one day to nab a slice and help out with the Drift 'Cuda or something like that? That would be awesome.
I love this show. it's a tribute to all the magic MotorTrend neutered from Hot Rod Garage. Good for Hagerty for making thiis happen.
Well said. MT is more "Mass Market" & too smooth around the edges. Kudos to Hagerty for letting guys be real without pre-written jokes and scripts.
@@branchandfoundry560 It's really sad that MT is living in the past.
know the feeling of popping the gearbox off a random JDM SR and finding a mad clutch. great build
Same thing happened to my friend when he got his sr20 years ago but it was a ORC single disc that the engine importer didn't know when he sold him the motor along with some more s15 goodies
We used to buy the front clips way back when. Sometimes you’d luck out and score nice brakes or a sweet steering wheel
@@drechsla awe fun times
The ending was a tear dropper. Thank you Hagerty & Tony!
Exactly what I was hoping you would do with the SR. 300hp is the magic zone in an S13 for pretty much anything you want to do with it. Disco Potato vibes 👌🥔
Ok damn that ecu that fits in the factory case is sick too
I think this is the move for a fun drift car, thanks for watching!
Love the hot rod dustpan fix for the intake piping, so awesome!
Whatever it takes, we are on it!
@@StayTunedTA Gotta do what is needed to keep the shop and the kids fed at school! Keep it up!
@@StayTunedTA that was hilarious
@@StayTunedTA can't believe you even fixed the dustpan too. I would have been "does it work without that piece, then it doesn't need it..."
Not gonna lie, the fixed dustpan gave me a good chuckle. Hahaha
not only is the build something we would’ve done 20 years ago, the video style seems like it too so i hope you don’t change anything about them
It sadden me to see the coupe go, I have a love for the coupe. But its a logical choice if you also have a rust free and pre-caged car. Good watch. Have fun with this thing. Hagerty seems to be the only larger company out there that shows the import crowd proper respect, and you guys kind of reminded me of how much I enjoyed doing this stuff in my early 20's, 15 years ago.
This is quickly becoming one of my favorite channels. Honest and informative.
Jimmy is the Best!!!! He brings happiness to anyone's video. Such a wholesome dude. 1:03
I love the content - its real, like when you all eat, just like when when everyone else is in the garage working on their project.
Feeling it and I like seeing your stuff NOT blow up!
Not sure who does the audio editing on this video, but if you're mixing multiple channels of audio all together try running a noise gate on all of your microphone channels. That will prevent the flange effect when somebody is standing near whomever is speaking and is also mic'd. It might take a bit of finagling but it'll cure that all pretty easy!
Love Angelo's torque settings for the turbo bolts. This also is similar to the Ford FE header bolts: 3/8" open ended wrench and go until every knuckle is bruised, bleeding and you can't hold the wrench anymore. And don't worry about those one's on the bottom you can't get to. That's why you added extra goop there, right?
Its crazy to see two of my favorite content creators working together. I watched Hot Rod Garage for years, and ive been watching Jimmy since he built his 300zx in his moms garage years ago. I would have never expected to see these two making videos this in a million years. This is amazing!
I love that every RUclips car show has The "We need to finish this car today or we're gonna lose the shop." Running gag 😂
LOVE THIS SHOW. I literally hopped on the Hagerty channel and subbed this morning waiting on a new video. Can't believe the timing
Thanks for watching!!!
Good to see ya getting back to the roots. Used to be cheap to do a K24DET. Now it is cheaper to do a generic twin turbo 4.6. What a time to be alive...
12:05 100% tony glad to see comeback. Blood masters still a thing?
Tony's music choices are frickin mint.
Jimmy is the man, been watching his channel for a few years , it’s much like a group of friends getting it done for fun .
Tony + Jimmy + 240 = 🤙🏽
This is rad. I love that I don't feel like I'm watching something filmed in 2023. It feels more like this was filmed and edited 10-15 years ago and it feels like home.
Love that they fixed the dust pan after scrapping it 👌🏾
I never really got into drifting, until I saw the Drift Cuda...seeing old big metal flinging around is something special.
Your show is getting a really great vibe. Keep growing! I love the punk!
Nice. The clutch nearly offsets the cost of the nice chassis entirely. Score
Right in the feels at the end, ouch 😥KB43VER
New to your channel and love it I know you from motortrend. Love to see how much progress you have gotten done tony
Thanks for taking us along this drift car build. Sounds awesome. A very strong car! 💯
“Good pizza and bad rust” hahaha. The most true statement about Pa ever said. Besides our awful Car swallowing pot holes
Another great episode. Can't wait to see the finished car. Always good to see The O in the House.
Living the dream ! SR20 with a nice turbo, tuned standalone and a premade perfect wiring harness, dreams! Rust free shell, aaaamazing! I had a 89 S13 that had the salt into it, frame rails peel away like onion layers, laminated mild recycle steel instead of virgin castings Nissan used, not salt friendly!
Wow finding that clutch was such an awesome moment.
Right On Tony: Nice engine, and reasonably good car....make it happen!
Awesome touch at the end boys. Loving the content. RIP KEN BLOCK
The harnesses and EMC/BCM were probably some serious $$$ but having it JUST WORK is almost priceless.
THAT CLUTCH. WOW. That's going to be one nice ride.
Glad to finally see some appreciation for the tried & true mechanical fan! I can't count the number of times I've seen people install an electric fan in an attempt to fix an unrelated overheating problem, and many times they make the situation worse with the electric fan.
Got one of these. Built it into a ministock race car. Its so much fun! Love the video on your car!
Big Props to these guys with a ton of auto engineering, fabrication experience......an old guy like me can just sit back wish I understood all of what was involved in this transformation......
Jimmy is the man! I love his channel
The original head-up display cluster and dash from the rusty car is worth a pretty penny.
Awesome ep as always 👍🏻💪🏻
This channel is dope af. Loving the wide variety of content. 🚀📈
Oh soz, love what you're doing with the engine swop.
Sweet JDM
Been waiting for this episode! Jimmy and Tony collab. Hell yea...
Nice score with that clutch!
My favorite configuration of the S13 is that rust bucket, i love the pignose coupe but i cannot blame at all for not wanting to patch everything. I also genuinely think there was not a better person to bring aboard for this deal than Jimmy O. SR wizard for sure.
Enjoyed watching Tony on HRG but this NJ guy is loving the edgier north east vibe. Glad you’re back home and doing dumb stuff!
THIS is the video I’ve been waiting for
02:20 The camera Man is a real one, trying to crop out that jacked up hair 😆
Hahah when Tony jumped through the window. Btw We need local pizza reviews too!
love this stuff... great Lose the Shop "real fab"
Im not an import guy (though i weirdly still miss the 89 Civic Si I had 20 years ago) but I'm liking this build. cant wait to see you take it on the track.
Awesome video, nice touch at the end,Ken Block is the best 👍👍💔
Thanks for content bro always on point t
Love it! I think @tonyAngelo was always cool to me because I always made drifting harder with my choice of car LOL!!!
You can build anything and make it entertaining. Can't wait to see this thing rippin
That's pretty beastly for a 4 banger. Nice one!
Seeing that cloud of black smoke on that first dumbo pull, looks like the magic formula to clean out a 25 year old engine is gumout and 17psi of boost. Lol
This is one nasty Nissan Tony. Can’t wait to see it all completed and on the track.
Ready to Stay Tuned. Looks like a banger this week.
Thanks for watching!
@@StayTunedTA Always
Love this content. Keep it up guys! Be great if the other guys were miced up though so we could hear them clearly as well.
Noted! Prob pick up some more packs soon.
5:34 Sound Good, said no Aussie ever about the SR20😂
Great video Tony! Would love it if you got wireless mics for everyone, would bump up the quality big time!
Hell yeah Jimmy! Love to see you on hagerty
That dust pan mod is so sick , I love the outside of the box thinking 👍
Gotta John belushi thing going on With those sideburns kick ass
love the videos keep them coming
Can’t wait to see more of this thing!
great call on the car swap!
My heart goes out Ken block!!!!!!!!!!!And his family
Hats off to TA, you and the crew drink the right beer. I noticed the can on the tool box.
Thanks! and thanks for watching! We like beer that tastes like beer!
Nice Work Guys.
Jimmy Oakes and Tony Angelo collab? Never thought I'd see that! Awesome!
42:05 THANK YOU KEN you are truly missed R.I.P.
No script = real fun
32:00 Tony Angelo goes full send 😂
As rusty as these cars can get they're still the most successful cars in drift competitions and they just look so good with a nice bodykit, its gonna be 100% worth it in the end
I liked seeing the new alternator's bracket holes massaged on the drill press but with a hand held drill 😂 Loving all the content Tony. Hagerty made a good decision to collab with you.
I'm just glad to see you building cars you want to
Don’t forget the bagels too. Hahaha “good pizza and bad rust” straight facts.
Believe it or not we don't have a super local good bagel spot, not like NY/NJ here in PA.-TA
SPICY JDM TIME! lol my supercharged 1UZ Supra and that needs to hang out.
Man, I love this T/A + Hagerty combo. Can we get a special guest cameo with Lucky Costa!!
I think he should be Hagerty's next pick up.
GREAT VIDEO AND GREAT CAR POWER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
V8 killer right there! Nice work 👌
So glad to see the 240 back I been wondering what happened to the damn thing. Someone was JUICED for that shell 😂
Nice tribute at the end.
Thanks for not using Kens name to BOOST clics. Well done! and a great video will be watching for the finished project.
A guy who keeps the SR! Cannot wait to see this!
Pizza come from the barhroom? Loving the channel and build.
Sure wish 25 years ago I had not got rid of all my 240Z`s and 240SX's
Finding that clutch is like buying a sofa from Goodwill and finding a kilo of blow in the cushion. Score!
Love this show!
Awesome build
TONY!!!!! TONY!!!! TONY!!!! YOUR THE MAN BROTHER!!!! I love your videos brother. I've been watching you since Hot Rod Garage. Keep it going brother.
I appreciate that!-TA
The clutch discovery was a delight
Perfect timing I’m about to drop an SR in a 240 hatch 😂
Jimmy is the SR man!! He works magic. He needs to hang with the S Chasis God Okichan.
Thus makes me feel old. Friend bought a complete front clip from Japan for $2500 in the early 2000's. We took pictures of the setup. Developed them and then did the swap into his coupe.
