I'm 61 years young and just got into the hobby. I have always thought that plane was the best war bird growing up watching "Black Sheep". I will definitely be getting one !!!
Have been watching this plane since release and now that baby looks like it is flying like it was meant to on 6s . Certainly the nicest Corsair out there. Kudos to you Rich for staying on top of it.
I was thinking when I first got in the sport 5 years ago I was Eflite only and everything had to have SAFE. But in talking and hanging out with very experienced pilots they gave me the rundown on the different manufacturers. FMS and Freewing were always described as the “Cadillac” of the foam model industry. So I’m dumbfounded how this plane wasn’t darn near perfect out of the box. (Correct motor and esc size and a really good prop) The opinion among the experienced pilots was, “FMS and Freewing attention to detail are certainly the best, but you’re gonna pay for it.” I bet FMS gets it right. I’ve had my first ever build (Dynam Corsair) for 5 years. (That was also my 1st RCInformer build video) It’s time for a Corsair upgrade.
Great flying Corsair now finally with the new prop on 6S. Ballistic on 8S! Thanks Rich for staying on top of FMS to get this. And props to Steve for keeping the plane in frame even through the most aggressive flying!
Rich. 8s , 120 ESC - That’s the ticket! You don’t need the extra power-BUT- nice to have if you want it. Great job with presentation and Steve on the cam. 👍👍😉
Just now getting back into the hobby after being out close to two decades. I’m amaze at how far foam models had become. Also. What is it with this unwritten rule of having to bow down to those jet guys when they run up their models? Everyone pays the same dues at the club. I have noticed this at many local fields.
I have been to many air shows with real corsairs putting on display flights. I would have to say this plane on 6s looks more like a scale 5 to almost 600 mph. I think that is too fast to be scale. But you know how it is everyone always wants faster. Nice flight. The prop looks great on it.
Looked nice and scale on 6s with good performance. The 8s looked a little to hot. Loads of power. The new prop with a larger ESC should give good options for either 6 or 8s. Beautiful model.
The F4U is beautiful. I have an unrelated question about the HH Air Tractor. The directions for the installation of the skies is very weak, especially of how to install the springs to stabilize the skies. Can you shed any light on this for us? Charles
Thank you for the great video. From what I can find, the 300Kv motor has an amp rating of 75A and the 360Kv is 80A. What guided your decision that 110A would be appropriate? Thanks again.
What actually happens with the gear down is the F4U becomes a little nose heavy which is why when inverted you have to push more down elevator. It happens on my P 40 and F6F. All with rotating retracts. My F6F is larger at 80 WS, so the CG doesn't change much. I balance all my planes with the gear up. One question is the prop a one piece or is it 4 blades attached to the center hub. On some of the earlier FMS models with 4 blades such as the F4U and P51, I found a way to adjust the pitch.
Boy that "gas" four stroke sounds good!!!! Nice looking Foamie Rich. FMS has finally gotten rid of their cartoon fun scale looking airframes. Whoever is designing them now, has a really good eye, as it's pretty close to scale!!!!
I was hoping they would update this to an 8s but 3 years later and they haven't. I went ahead and purchased one as is and I purchased the 120amp 8s esc. I just wanted to know how the stock 300kv motor has held up on the 8s power system? Mine should be here in a few days and I want to get her setup right.
when I flew private planes depending on the plane such as cessna 310, 210 or 182 part of flying when air born was to adjust prop pitch after climbing to altitude then you put prop. in cruise RPM but when you took off you had full pitch for performance and power but after you reached altitude then you adjust prop. for comfortable cruise and balanced out the rpm's and fuel burn. too bad you can't do that on this corsair or even other models. But I ate too many wheatie's this morning and am delussional.
I’m sold. Love the look of the gull wing on head shots. How do you know if you have the updated prop? You always say flaps coming up on landing. When do you raise them? Always great info.
Rich I need to ask what could be a dumb question BUT here goes... I have my corsair V3 version all set up and ready to go with all controls set up and ready also AR630 with as3x and safe. My question is: I see a lot of reviews including yours where pilots have put 10oz. weights and there seems to be a consistancy of opinions for the weights... BUT! Since I have not flown yet is it recommended to go ahead and put 10 oz. of weight in the nose or take a chance and fly it first. I am just betting on the odds from everyone it will need 10 oz's of weights. Please !
Rich thanks for putting this video together. All around nice work as always. Going to take your recommendation and add the 120 ESC. However, I am having no luck with FMS support. Do you know how I can get the replacement prop? 18x11 measurements are most lilely incorrect. would you happen to know the correct measurements so that I can perhaps get a replacement from master airscrew? Thanks in advance for you help.
@@RCINFORMER thought you had received a new 4 blade prop from FMS which had more pitch on it which helped with speed? apparently FMS was going send this new 4 blade prop to everyone who had purchased the V3 of this plane no?
I have a good knowledge of how these planes fly. Could i start out on a plane like this?? I get all the no how. But don't want to be an idiot! Any advice would be appreciated! I really want to get into the hobby! I have flown real planes in the past. I have 20 hours in a 172. But i was just wondering.
next time u talk to fms ask why they put the orange band on rear fuselage i couldn’t find any pictures with orange band for navy planes. i assume its navy because of the tail hook
Beginning in the late 1940s, Corsairs assigned to the Navy Reserve usually had an orange band around the aft fuselage. The name of the Naval Air Station or Naval Reserve Air Station was often painted under the NAVY on the side of the fuselage. This particular livery is modeled after a Vought F4U-4B Corsair, Naval Air Reserve Training Unit, U.S. Navy, Jacksonville, Florida, June 1954.
FMS Didn't give the "new prop" a different part number they simply kept the original part number as printed in the manual and did a free replacement on all aircraft from the 1st batch of aircraft made if you contacted them with your proof of purchase. From the 2nd production run onwards the aircraft has the prop in this video so if you order the corsair Prop today it will be what is referred to in this video as the "new prop". The prop is 18"x11" from memory and the part number can be found on their website (FMSPROP062)🙂
The FMS Corsair V3 1700 looks to have good power on 6s with the new prop according to your comments and flight vid bears that out for me. From previous vids I know you are very familiar with the Flightline Corsair 1600. How would you compare /contrast them in terms of fit/finish, durability of components, build, flight characteristics et,?
I received the updated prop from HH. After installing it , flying it on a 6s 5000 Mah Admiral battery, it was still a dog.I mean serious lack of power. It does not by any means approach scale performance. Passing this along as my observation. You asked about the Flighline 1600 Corsair. The finish and detail are far superior in my opinion. The flight performance is outstanding, More scale like prop, No pinky pilot. I just wish it was as big as the FMS.
Maybe I need to up the timing on mine or something because the "updated" prop i waited 3.5 weeks for made no difference on mine with 6s. Nowhere near scale speed.
I was enjoying watching the plane but i couldnt handle it anymore. You either talk waay too much or are whining about the other planes. We heard the damn plane. You shouldnt expain every single detail of what you are doing..."gonna move forward..just a couple steps." As if we wouldnt have known

8s is the answer ....nice job Rich...you definitely shook that airplane out....quite a different plane now....hope FMS takes your advice!!
I was wondering could you do the same for the P-51 1700mm too
Rich. 8s , 120 ESC - That’s the ticket! You don’t need the extra power-BUT- nice to have if you want it. Great job with presentation and Steve on the cam. 👍👍😉
The corsair is a classic and a really good looking plane, the Spitfire and p-51 mustang, and the p 38 lightning are all beautiful.

It's unfortunate that happens....
Nice flying Rich. I love it when you put them through there paces.
So an 85 or more ESC an new prop is the fix. Love the look of a F4U in the sky. Only thing is maybe a midnight blue scheme would be the Stuff🔥👍

That thing was REALLY HAULING! 6S looked plenty fast but 8S was insane!!!!
Nice take off, nice flight and greased that landing on 6S.
Very nicely done. FMS owes you for this one.

So far, so good! I'll be doing more videos of it in the future:)
Thanks Rich & Steve... I think I will wait till V4 or V5, why doesn't FMS send these to you before they go full production?
I would love to have it on 8s for sure!
Very nice flying model I love it. The Japanese Nik named the F-4u the whistling death. Awesome plane.
The p51 came with the 300kv. Mine came with a 360. Strange. I made no mods on the bird either.
Nice plane and a good pilot, perfect, thank you!
That prop just looks scale. Good looking bird. I'm getting one

Wow! What an improvement! That 8s is ballistic. Lol. Nice Rich
Do you think you could go back to the stock timing? Thanks for doing all the testing!
Sure, there will just be a bit less power but plenty sufficient power
Your videos always very informative, Thanks guys.
Thanks for watching! That's what my channel is all about!
Only one thing to say.love it love it love it 😍, You the MAN 👍👍👍👍
Really nice job here man this plane flies phenomenal! 👍🏽

@@qnoorani Yes, thats correct. This has the new prop on it
Rich do you think I can adapt that prop to my FMS 1700mm red tail??
Probably not, because the mustang uses a spinner. The corsair & mustang prop blades mount differently.
How do you get the new Prop from the factory ? My wife bought me one for fathers day and it's deff slow on the 6 s
When are you gonna be at the landfill next??
Not sure
Its a nice plane but also a absolutly slow Flyer. It dont want to go fast.

Hey Rich did you upgrade the motor for 8S? Or is the 300kv stock?
I tried both & settled on the stock 300kv motor on 8s with the FMS 120AMP 8s esc.
It seems to be the best power combination
Outstanding shipmate.
I wonder how many got the I think Pappy would be happy comment LOL
What size prop is it please..? I have the V4 Corsair. I may have missed it, but I never heard anyone mention what the size is
18x11 prop on the 1700mm V3 Corsair :)
Still was 10 oz Nose Weight in these vids?
will this be ok on spectrum 100 amp 8s esc or needs to be 120 amp 8s
Depends on how much amps it draws when you run it up on a fully charged battery. Also, it will unload as it moves through the air.
OH! That is such a great help.
would be nice if they just gave you 1 flight to do youre review
One Great R/C plane
