  • Here is my full review of the FMS 1400mm F4U Corsair. In this full review, I'll walk you through my thoughts on the model and give you the info needed to be successful with it. She's definitely a looker and being an F4U-4, it's the same variant as was featured in the movie Devotion. But, does the model live up to its legacy of its full scale counterpart? #F4U #scalemodel #warbirds

    A worthy tribute indeed my friend, nice review of an old standard! These larger scale FMS warbirds really set the bar for the hobby in the 1.4 to 1.5 meter and bigger range back in the day, and they are still going strong some years later. I can't think of one in the series that doesn't fly well, and on a simple 4 cell battery no less! Great job Chris!

    I've been pretty happy with FMS. I've been collecting 1100mm warbirds from all the different brands and the ones that come from FMS have much better foam. Not sure if they changed but the ESC's in the last 2 planes have signal wire for thrust reverse which they don't advertise. The Rafale and 1700mm pa-18 monster.

    Great video Chris and great flying as usual. Just wanted to mention that I have been upgrading all of my FMS 1400mm KV540 motors to KV650. Using the following parts (below), the length from the back-plate to the shaft tip is identical, so it's pretty much a drop in replacement. The cowl hole has to be enlarged slightly with the Corsair, but after doing so the model retains it's original look.
    I highly recommend the upgrade, the 1400 models that originally come with a 540 are really woke up. I've done the FMS 1400 Bf-109's, P-51's, Zero, and Corsair.
    Parts needed:
    80+ amp ESC (I have a ton of leftover 80 amp Freewing that work well)
    Motor: ..... FMS FMMKV650 (same as in new 1400 T28)
    Motor mount (back plate): .... FMMDJ014 (from P40B)
    4258 Motor Shaft ..... FMMDZ005 ...... Original part for FMS F3A 1400
    The Corsair (as well as the others) is an absolute blast to fly with the upgraded power. Best wishes!

    My first rc plane was a flitetest f4u Corsair. That's the plane that made me pull the trigger to get into rc flight.
    Nobody told me how difficult it would be to build, nor how NOT beginner friendly it was. After crashing it a few times and rebuilding it with extra weight in the front it flew amazing. It's still my favorite plane I've ever flown. I unfortunately had to retire it last year after I forgot to check my cg, and was way to tail heavy...

    Nice review. You didn't seem overly impressed but you get to fly so many nice planes. You didn't mention anything about the reflex system. I thought the pain tscheme was a little flat. What do you think? I thought the air speeds were very close to scale especially on the landings. It doesn't take much imagination of seeing you on the deck of the carrier and videoing that short final with a 16 mm camera. It just looks right. Speaking of landing speeds if you were to chose, what model you have flown seems to get it right?

    • @Thercgeek
      @Thercgeek  10 месяцев назад +1

      If I remember right, it’s a little bit of a pain to take apart only because of the servo connections. That being said, it could be simplified by using some tbolt multi connectors like I used on the big eflite t28.
