Filmed at Wenatchee Red Apple Flyers Washington Warbird event 9-12-21
One worked out fine, one had an air system failure, so the landing gear was left dangling around resulting in a gear up, and one had the cowl come lose in flight.

General Information
The Corsair has been one of the most breathtaking Warbirds ever built . However, the typical gull wing was a nightmare for every modeler to build, so prior to the composite age, not too many Corsairs have been made. What a shame...
Well, things can change in an instance!
Our 1:4.5 Scale F4U-1D Corsair features all our latest molding and manufacturing technologies, which have elevated our ARF Aerobatic Planes and Sport Jets above all competition. The CARF Models Corsair is a true marvel. Absolutely scale in outline and in panel lines, it even features the scale fabric surface on outer wings, elevator and rudder right out of the molds. This scale is not too big for a safe flying weight below the 25 kg (55 lb) limit of many countries.
With the CARF-Models F4U-1D Corsair a dream comes true for us - and maybe for you, too. Vought F4U-1C Corsair

That was a great landing considering the circumstances. The pilot should be proud. Great job.
NOTHING BEATS THE BEAUTIFUL SOUND OF A RADIAL ENGINE
No matter the size
Facts!
Boy guys, heart breaking to see that belly landing! As a long-time Giant Scale RC flyer and real GA pilot, I have to level a criticism here on ALL the landing approaches to the pilots: they were all way, way, way too steep which didn't allow any of the aircraft to bleed off speed and settle in to ground effect over the runway. Those steep landing approaches are building "E" as the aircraft approach the runway, accounting for the instability and porpoising in the attempt to flare. Don't hate me guys (lol); I'm just trying to keep your beautiful birds in the air! Practice a low-angle approach (starting from at least 100 yds downwind!) and "fly" those aircraft with gear and flaps down at a controlled descending approach. You will notice a much more stable and decelerating aircraft as you cross the threshold, making clean "greeser" landings. Remember to never let your aircraft fall through the ground effect - just flying down, nose level. Love your birds and your field!! Great video..happy skies.
Eine kompetente Antwort. Die Modellflieger sollten ihren Ratschlägen beherzigen. Ich bin ganz ihrer Meinung.
Suppose you were there ?
Any reason the approaches weren’t on the strip? - looked very steep too…I’m curious
@@tonywright8294Probably not, but the video is the video … and despite the beautiful models, less than perfect landings just aren’t kind to any warbirds…
bent wheel guy was actually a stall as it just flopped onto the deck......but good to see all 3 aircraft back in the pits in one piece
I love the beautiful radial engine idling sound. It sounds much deeper than you would expect from a small engine.
thats 125 to 250cc of engine.. isn't actually that small :D
This is a perfect example of why I'm a F4U Fanatic! There're many War Birds that will take your breath away but IMHO - the F4U is better than Viagra! Great video guys and great flying! Thanks for posting.
Thank you!
I agree with you 100%
This is very unnatural. But, I think I am crushing on them. They are the sexiest things I have ever seen! Just thinking of them gets my pulse rate up. If a preserved example of one got me that hot and bothered, I can only imagine what the pilots and mechanics thought when they saw a new one rolling out of an assembly line.
Great looking F4us...I built Nick Zarolis with the 2.5 Kioritz engine
EACHINE
Those engines sound amazing. thanks for not playing music. They have a very nice flying field too.
Thanks! Yes they do!
I can NOT BELIEVE how good the gear stood up to that stall drop at the 4:42 mark.. I have seen planes destroyed with a hit like that... That is one strong Corsair.
It’s That navel landing gear boi
That was a smooth crash landing, that last one. Pilot made a great job saving his aircraft.
absolutely loved the start-up rumble of those engines!
I bet Pappy Boington is grinning from ear to ear right now, LOL.
Those are all beautiful awesome models. I'm glad none were damaged too badly. I'd like to see and hear a little half throttle cruising around with planes like this. It would be different. Everyone pegs the throttle and screams around. I had a scale stearman with a 4 stroke that would putter along looking like a full size one.
Most gorgeous fighter aircraft ever made” Beautiful WWII R/C planes!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️👍👍
Kudos to the pilot. It doesn't get much better than that for landing a warbird with a gear problem.
Great to have an on board starter! Lovely sounds!
Great job filming this. Keeping two, and at times, three aircraft in frame and smooth close-ups make this enjoyable.
Thank you!
Very nice warbirds and hard to tell from the real thing in the air. Glad the two that had issues look to be fixable. And I love the RAF field, the best I've ever had the pleasure to fly at. Thanks for the vid.
I think it's from the veterans were still alive and they were able to see these planes if bring tears to their eyes.
These things are spectacular! I have had the opportunity to see several of these fly over the years. I was fortunate enough to see two of them fly at once, a few times, over the course of a weekend a few years ago. 👍🍻
Beautiful RC planes I should’ve known they have miniature RC raidial engines now, has been awhile since I have flown my 049 u control plane, model planes and engines have come along way since the 50s . Great video and great job on those RC Corsairs loved the video.
Honestly I'm impressed by your video skills! Great landing too.
Thank you!
Look at those giants playing with those corsairs like there toys. Amazing 👏
Pappy was watching in spirit with a bottle of spirits.
Amazing birds! I used to fly RC before my vision got too bad, and the one thing I saw more of than anything else was retractable gear problems. You would think in this day and age, someone could make a reliable retractable gear! thanks for the great videos! Takes me back...
The sound of a radial makes me stand up and salute!
The F4U is one of two of the sexiest warplanes that the US ever made, the other one is the F4 Phantom. Nice video.
Amazingly realistic and a joy to watch, hope not to much damage after belly landing
"listen to that muisic" great line!
They do sound amazing!
That's such a nice plane. I want to build one but, I don't think I would have the nerve to fly it, lol
Not when you see the price on one of those Moki radials.
Luckily all down without any major damage! Awesome to see 3 in the air at ones!!!
Those are beautiful RC planes guys, thanks for sharing this. Brings back memories, my father and I built RC airplanes together, my dad was an Air Force guy and loved those planes. He passed away last year. We never built a WWII scale aircraft like these Corsairs but I wish we had, that looks like so much fun. My oldest son is moving out here soon, I never got a chance to do this with him, I have a shop in my garage perhaps we will make this happen. btw, I'm glad to see that wasn't a serious crash for that amazing model.
Great planes! This is why all my planes are fixed gear, a lot less stress
Great flying for all three pilots. I am a North American AT-6 instructor (real airplanes) and tail draggers require MUCH more skill than tricycle gear planes. I can only imagine the difficulty with remote controls.
I have a tailwheel endorsement (real planes), I think Rc can be harder because your not in it, you dont notice as easily how its veering, in my opinion.
@@JohnVHRC Great job John. I am a retired American Airlines Captain, and flew G-IV, G-V, and BBJ/737 planes afterward until covid. I do not have a Tailwheel endorsement because in the 1960s & 1970s that did not exist, so I was grandfathered in. Do you know when the FAA created the Tailwheel Endorsement? Also, I am sure RC is much more difficult. In the T-6, the instructor sits in the rear seat. So, if you could see the runway on landing, you were not on it (especially at night). I did have to make a dead stick landing at night from the back seat due to an engine fire. Turned out it was a stack fire (too rich mixture) and not an engine fire. Brown Field, San Diego, Aug 8-1971, North American AT-6 D Model N9051Z.
Perfect emergency landing! great pilot skills..Only minor parts broken..👍👏
So awesome when they sound like the real thing.
Bummer but the damage isn’t too bad. Amazing, very professional camera work John. Great work.
What a sweet video! Those are all very beautiful Corsairs for sure.Hope damage was minimal on the one that bellied in.Thanks John!
Thanks Don! Everything will be fixed and they will fly again!
I clicked on this video purely randomly, and immediately thought I recognized the area. Then I read the description and sure enough. My family has taken yearly hunting trips in that area for more than half a century. Cool to see an active RC club flying large scale out there. Keep on keeping on.
Thats awesome! Ive never hunted this area, we always go farther north, Twisp, Concunully, etc.
Wow,indeed as music in the ears, great planes, great flying, great filming!!..Hope to build one myself someday!! God bless from the Netherlands!!
So very Cool flying well done CHAMPIONS
Wonderful video, beautiful replica aircraft, expertly flown and filmed. Can't think when I've enjoyed a couple of minutes more, watching Corsairs fly again. Respects and best wishes to all concerned in this film.
I’ve been absent from the hobby a bit, and those Moki engines sound amazing.
Excellent camera work Sir. My favorite airplane of all time. Seems like that's the kind of thing that would be worth straightening up for LOL
To me, these are so exciting and fun to watch
Listening to those little radial engines purr, is a real treat. To bad about the landing gear collapse, but it happens to the best of them.
Miniature Guns shooting blanks for effect. Good vid kid perciate it stay healthy safe travels 👍
Man those sound awesome
Those sound incredible.
They sound so close to the real deal 👍😎
Gorgeous planes love the way they sound
They sound even better in person, but hands down the best sounding model engine made.
That was fun 😊 thanks for sharing!
Absolute BEAST of a plane the old whistler
Those are awesome and I love the Corsair 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Nice belly landing. Hope they got the undercarriage sorted in the end . These F4U Corsairs sounded fantastic btw 👌 👏 👍
Well done on the landing! ❤
Actually some very nice control of three BEAUTIFUL F4U CORSAIRS well done guys
What a trio of trippers!
Nice flight, hope the damage was minimal.
Great gear issue landing
Enjoyable video 😊😎
Cary
It was expensive!
A thing of beauty
Beautiful sounds.
Damn I love that sound!
they sound so good
Great sounding planes and great job flying the problems to the ground with slight damage I hope.
Excelente exibicion! Hermoso sonido de motores!
A great job of filming. I felt like I was standing right there.
Thank you so much!
*blacksheep squadron music starts*
that back drop scenery is awesome
It is, I love going here
and not a spectrum transmitter in sight!!!.....so good to see guys using good quality radio gear for a change!!!
Oh, your one of those.. haha
@@JohnVHRC yep....im not a sheep like those spectrum guys....and ive also done my research into that (spectrum) system....and after seeing several expensive crashes due to that brand of gear....no thanks
@@hardtop123 User error is the reason things crash, not spektrum, sounds like your past due for you 12th booster shot.
@@JohnVHRC you believe what you like mate...but after being a witness to several afore mentioned crashes caused by TX/RX uplink failure in flight, i will NEVER trust spectrum.....and as for dragging the booster crap into it, its a load of BS
Sounds Amazing
Great vid John! too bad those two had issues, otherwise I am sure they would've got a few laps in tighter formation. Not too often one gets to watch three amazing planes flying together with that backdrop! Fun weekend!
Totally, cant wait to go back!
Great piloting.
Dang they sound like the real thing amazing
Great job!
The music sounds great!! There's no easier way to start one than by pushing a button!! Good stuff John.
AirHammer out!!
I commented to soon, I hope all is relatively Ok.
Fantastic video. Whoever shot that did a brilliant job.
I did, thank you so much!
One of my favorites
the exhaust sound on that 555 was so sexy
Love the backdrop
6:12 Excellent landing!
wow! they even sound real!!!
I see that so often with the pneumatic gear and doors... had my gear converted to down and locked while i was building my corsair and worked flawlessly for years, i have since machined up new motor cases and using electron er-40 motors with the gs-200 controller with micro 6x hs45-mg hitecs opening all the doors. Never fails ! Just recently converted my CARF Tucano to all electric Electron ER-50 gear with the gs200 and electric gear door actuators, again... just works.
Ive seen too many issues with electric gear, I dont think Ill ever go away from air, so IDK.
@@JohnVHRC unfortunately I agree there is a lot of rubbish electric gear out there, you get what you pay for. Down and locked are not great but have served me well for many uneventful years. Electron are the rolls Royce of electrics , but again you get what you pay for. I just got tired of chasing air leaks. Even the Carf tucano is full electric on the gear train , brakes and doors with no problems to talk of . Happy landings
Well executed!
Very cool and beautiful
Thank you very much
The corsair is my favorite warplane, along side the red tails.
I feel your pain, been there a few times with mine, looking good though!
Awesome! I have a old F4U .60 in basement I'll get in the air 1 day.
Great looking F4us...I built Nick Zarolis with the 2.5 Kioritz engine
Well done! That was not an easy landing
Still georgeous planes..an hope you get good retracs
You do things well!!!
UGUYS and these planes pretty cool stuff.
Love them Corsairs
wow, well done.
7:50 was a really nice crash landing
Amazing!!!
Excellent work John. Good thing those planes are so inexpensive, or that might hurt the wallet.
Hahaha, right! They will be fixed!
😂
Good camera work guys :)
The BEST of everything.... Giant F4Us at my fav field Red Apple Flyers in Wenatchee..... Was that Stuckey in the background? He never misses anything! Awesome video!
He might have been there, not sure. Thanks!
Great video! Amazing how it doesn't matter how many RC videos I search, I still find gold like this from great hidden RUclipsrs like you JohnVHRC. Hope the repair went well for the pilot.
Thank you!
