DEANO AND I HAVE HAD SUCH FUN WHILE FILMING AT THE RC SHOWS AND CLUBS HERE IN THE UK AND HAVE MADE MANY MANY NEW FRIENDS OVER THE PAST TEN SEASONS ITS BEEN QUITE HUMBLING AT TIMES,
THE MOST HUMBLING MOMENT OF ALL CAME AT THE WILLIS WARBIRDS FIGHTER MEET BACK IN JUNE 2016 WHEN UNBEKNOWNST TO DEANO & I THE TWO TEDS - MATT HARROWVEN AND CHRIS WILLIS HAD ORGANISED A FUND ON FACE BOOK ASKING FELLOW MODELERS TO MAKE A DONATION TOWARDS UPGRADING ALL OF OUR COMPUTER EQUIPMENT AND CAMERA AS A VERY BIG THANK YOU FOR ALL THE VIDEOS WE HAVE UPLOADED OF THESE GUYS & GIRLS OVER THE PAST NINE YEARS AT THESE SHOWS !
IT WAS SO HUMBLING THAT I MIGHT HAVE CRIED SEVERAL TIMES DURING THAT AFTERNOON - LOL,
AS IF THAT WASN'T ENOUGH OF A SHOCK WHEN WE FINISHED FILMING ON THE FLIGHT LINE OF THE LMA ELVINGTON SHOW TWO WEEKS LATER DAVE & ANDY JOHNSON & KEN Mc CORMICK PRESENTED US WITH A CARD WITH MORE DONATIONS IN IT - GOBSMACKED AGAIN TO SAY THE LEAST,
WE WERE THEN GIVEN SEVERAL CASH DONATIONS FROM MORE FRIENDS AND THE TOTAL DONATION FINALLY CAME OUT AT OVER £1650 !!!!!
WITH THIS MONEY WE BOUGHT TWO NEW MONITORS AND ALSO A TOWER COMPUTER AND WILL UPGRADE THE VIDEO CAMERA SOON,
ANOTHER MILESTONE IN OUR RC HISTORY WOULD BE THAT OF DEANO BEING OFFERED A POSITION AS A DISPLAY PILOT IN THE AZAEROSPORTS DISPLAY TEAM THIS YEAR,
AND HE WAS ALSO OFFERED A SPONSORSHIP FROM GP ENGINES (GREAT POWER ENGINES),
ANOTHER MILESTONE FOR DEANO WAS THAT HE WON THE 3D FREESTYLE MASTERS AEROBATIC COMPETITION BACK IN FEBRUARY 2017 AND AGAIN IN MARCH 2018.
AGAIN MANY MANY THANKS TO YOU ALL (TO MANY TO NAME) FOR YOUR SUPPORT AND GENEROSITY OVER THE YEARS AND WE LOOK FORWARD TO THE COMING SEASON AND MANY MANY MORE -

I remember being devastated when one of my cheap model rockets that took a few hours to build crashed or got damaged... can't imagine what its like to crash one of these that you spent hundreds or thousands of dollars on, spent days or weeks putting it together, and may be fully at fault for the crash as opposed to a model rocket crash where shit out of your control usually leads to the failure rather then you crashing it yourself trying to land!

Back in the 1990s, I was lucky to enjoy this hobby (but with arfs and .45/.46 engines). The older fellows in the group with more money would fly nicer scratch stuff, and they'd always say "be careful with it be careful with it! and when one of us would turn the airplanes into toothpicks, they'd say "these days, with the good glues we have, you can fix anything until it gets too heavy!!".

Nose end cockover, fuel out of plane, engine heavier afteer flight, longer landing gear legs.

Not everyone had a reprieve from crashing in 2020! I flew an E-Flite 64mm EDF F-15 Eagle straight into the ground on its 2nd flight. If only it were on camera. It was actually pretty spectacular. I’ve since fixed it and flown it 6 or 7 times now. Of course, on its last flight it ended up 75 feet up in a tree. (And got rained on) I got it back with minimal damage (a broken aileron servo) and I’m just waiting for some good weather to try it again.

The plane would sometimes start wagging rudder and elevator with no input from me on field. after a few years of un-responsive flights and crashes I gave up. 30yrs later getting the urge again.
Are radio failures/brown outs still common or did they get that worked out.

Being a pilot and building several planes I've always thought it was easier to fly the real thing over the models..

your right steve it is easier flying the real thing, ive flown a cessna and took off and flew and landed on the first lesson, 35 yrs ago it took me nearly 9 months to fly solo on rc with any confidence of not destroying it, try it out and book a lesson in a cessna, youl love it

I've been a hobbyist my whole life.. I got my first rc at about six and I had a bunch of deferent toys sense then.. I mostly race my biggies now but back when I had planes boats trucks cars a few home made ones but I wanted to tell this story.. about 15 years ago I built this beautiful A10 warthog it was awesome I spent about 900 on it took me about a month on weekends putting it together.. the day came to go fly it I took off and it was flying great.. it was up about 5 minutes or so when this big falcon started trying to attack my plain so I was coming around to land it and that fckn bird actually grabbed my plain out of the air and flew off towards the highway.. oh shit we jumped in the car and took off trying to find that bird and nope.. he was gone.. so we turned around headed back to the park to get my stuff when this guy was on the side of the road putting my plane in his car.. I stopped and told him what was going on and that's my plane he said bull shit and took off.. we got his plate I filed a complaint.. so about a week later I get a call from the police department saying come pick up your plane.. it seems the guy was an off duty cop and was in a lot of trouble for his actions.. I got my plane back but I was so scared to fly it again it just looked cool on the wall until I sold it!!

Interesting to watch (especially if you don't have to do any of the fixing). It shows the effects of lack of mass, which is how we glider pilots view hang gliders. 400 kg of glider will get me through quite a lot of turbulence without loss of control.

hello there, I am also a model pilot and builder. I would like to know where you got the beautiful warbirds from? Which company are these from. and which engine do you use? Also Moki engines or others? So far I only fly electric, but I would also like to buy a warbird with a petrol engine that has a very good original sound. Many greetings from Germany. Lectar

has any of these rc planes ever lost radio contact? what happens then? do they just keep flying until they crash?

    • @tbobborap1
      @tbobborap1  2 года назад

25 yrs ago maybe models lost signal on the old 35mhz systems but extremely rare today on the modern 2.4 ghz radios, modern radios have a fail safe that closes the throttle in the rare case that the signal is lost so that the model will fall to the ground close by with the engine / motor closed (a legal requirement that the pilot / owner must adhere to or face legal prosecution if theres a serious accident) in 10 yrs of using the modern radios i have had one model go into fail safe (lost signal and the throttle closed) and it fell safely into a farmers field, we do not fly near built up areas with houses etc so we are as safe as we can be blake !
