Did FMS want a truly scale flyer I wonder if that's why it was short on power? I really like this model, but bummed that if i purchased it i'd also have to purchase another / bigger motor for it. It's just to short on power in stock form from the looks of it. Can't turn it into an F2G Super Corsair if it doesn't have any power!!!
Great review with the corsair Rich , i like the corrections you did with it , although i moved mine ahead on the cg about where you have it on the last flight, has the power !! Keep up the great videos on the products , easy learning off yours , explained very well !! Got alot of notes , again, Great Job!!!
Hey Rich, I got my Valiant from the link you provided and have been cleared to solo (Yeah)! I started last weekend at field. All went well, I've just got to work on smoothing out my landings. THe Valiant flies beautifully, I've just got to eliminate the bounce when bringing her in. Thanks so much, keep the videos coming!
Have you looked at the Flightline 1600 prop/spinner, it’s a 18X12, looks awfully a lot like an FMS set up. Do you think that extra pitch would be enough? Having a hard time justifying spending another $90 on a motor on a brand new $500 plane.
I got to call it like it is. It flys well as is but is better on the higher KV motor:) However, it is more of a Cadillac model when compared to the Flightline model!
Hi guys, love the corsair, like you say not that much punch maybe try a lower pitch prop seems to hit high revs and not going anywhere, thanks for showing the adjustments you made like to see that on all videos, like to see the next flight with changes perhaps with the different prop
Great review as always, but the lack of extra power is disturbing. I always fly scale warbirds realistically, not as if they were turbine powered, but sometimes it’s nice to have that extra kick to get out of trouble or to go vertical! The looks of this one, like the last FMS version, is so much better than the Flightline offering, however I’ll wait till FMS sees your video and realizes they need to upgrade the motor.
Can I ask if that was the 5000 2s spektrum hardcase to accommodate the 6s? Spektrum don't sell anything else that size in 2s softcase as far as I know. Cheers
Looking forward to the upgraded motor flight myself. A little disappointed that it doesn't look like it has the punch that it should. Another $90 bucks to make it fly better..... Not what I wanted to hear but I seriously appreciate your honesty with it Rich. I'm sure there's no way they can change the motor at this point but I know they won't have any problem taking your money for the upgrade. Do you think the high winds had any impact on the flight? Thanks again Rich, love yer channel!
Great review Rich, honest to the point. Great info on how to change the esc timing. Would have been nice if FMS fitted the bigger motor as stock, still a great flyer. Looking forward to the 360 video smile😃
Looked rather nice to me. Scale, and I'm sure because of the size it's "kinda" quick. Wish you could get them with out the decals. You know to customize. 3 blade prop maybe?
Hey Rich. I picked up a corsair made by "Airfield". I know it's an old model just wondering if you know if the FMS fuselage would be the same. It's a 57" wingspan with the retractable tailwheel. I know models get re-branded and need a fuselage.
New rc pilot question, could you tell me why there's a need to keep an eye on the rudder on take off? I understand theres potential torque roll from a powerful motor, but if the planes going to roll surely I'd be wanting to counter it with the ailerons? Cheers.
The primary problem is a thing called P-Factor or A-Symmetrical thrust off of the prop. It is most pronounced in tail draggers. Because of the nose high attitude on the plane on the ground, the descending blade takes a bigger bite of air than the ascending blade. Because most propellers spin clockwise (when viewed from the cockpit) more thrust comes off of the right side of the prop that does the left side. This causes a yaw to the left. Right rudder will counter this left turning tendency IF the thrust is not to high.
@@RCINFORMER ahhh thank you very much. My interpretation of torque roll was the counter movement of the fuselage going in opposite direction to the prop and tipping its wing back into the ground on take off when really it's more of a yaw issue. Do I have to worry about aileron control on first moments of take off as I do the elevator and rudder? Thanks you for your time.
@@M4rkmcc21 Roll from torque is not nearly as pronounced as yaw caused by P-Factor. A little aileron may be needed, but it is mostly a yaw control issue.

(you live up to the name!) I would love to see a comparison of the FMS and Flightline Corsairs size...maybe a nose to nose picture. It looks like the improvements they have made are right on the mark. Looks like power wise it may need a bit more for scale flying. Really big, smooth loops require a good bit to make them look really scale. (to me anyways) .
It flys very scale.... however, We put the more powerful 360kv motor in it today and flew it.... much better with the new motor... should have that video up today:)
Glad I fly the FL 1600mm F4U looking at that review, out of the box its waaay better than this V3. Missed opportunity by FMS and an insult at this price point it needs a higher KV motor to give it better performance. Thanks for your honesty Rich.

Hi there Rich, brilliant video. 10/10 for looking into those problems in front of the camera (as with the unboxing video) ...is great to see how you solve problems and learn maybe a new technique, but it also lends a certain authenticity to the model. Interesting what people are saying here about the speed... In terms of scale fidelity, 99.999 percent of scale models are flown too fast and just looking at the video, I would say that the biggest thing to get right would be a more comfortable c of g. I guess it is always nice to have some power in reserve however, so will look forward to your trying the 360KV motor also. I tried the 360KV in my V2 and the amp draw was looking a little too much for the esc and so I went back to the 300KV motor. Another factor which I have not seen mentioned here is that with this kind of prop takes a lot of energy to turn, you do need a relatively low revving motor and rely on the pitch to give the pull...so hopefully the 360KV will not overheat in the process... Will look forward to the next instalment!
I Flew the new 1700mm V3 today with a Spektrum 7000 mah battery. This plane is so underpowered, I am amazed that it was ever released. And, to suggest that you should have to bear the cost of replacing the motor and esc or buy more batteries is too much, even if I could live with the PINK pilot.

I have asked this question in numerous places and can never get a straight answer... Are all of the props bow available for this plane the new version? I'm trying to find out if I actually want to change it to 8s or not.
Yes, it was only the very first batch of aircraft when the plane was brand new that had the prop that didn’t have enough pitch. Once I made them aware of the issue with the original prop they were VERY fast to Re-Tool the prop mould, and also did a free global replacement program for the owners at the time of release of the aircraft affected- so there is no more “bad” props being made or sold and has not been for a long time. The only batch of aircraft affected by that bad prop was the very first production run of around 300-500 aircraft maximum, so there should not be any of them left (the original batch of aircraft with the prop in, or original props made as spare parts) out there anymore. Hope this answers your question finally and puts your mind at rest. As far as 8s is concerned check out my video where i set one up on 8S! Thanks for the question and supporting the channel :)
FMS has always lacked in power on the warbirds, shame the models are great. I think the bigger birds need to either change prop motor combo or go up to 8 cell. All that dead weight will make me skip this one.

Real RCer's scratch build, I kit built a TopFlite Corsair, few it for years and eventually crashed it, so I scaled it up and scratch built a bigger one, it looked better and few much better and best of all cost next to nothing. Now days too many people don't have the skills to be in this hobby, it is a sad turn of events.
If your time is worth nothing, than I might tend to agree... but I really can't agree. After adding up the wood, glue, filler, tools, hardware, servos, retracts, engine, exhaust system, wiring, receiver, batteries, paint, covering, etc... you've got way more in cost, even BEFORE you add the cost of your time. I used to scratch built also, its way more expensive in materials & time than this $500 model!
Just needs a 6s 8000 pack. But I like the looks and the scale details! I dont want a warbird flying 700mph scale speeds...it flies as it should! A bigger battery will help with the cg for sure and it will be usable weight instead of dead weight..
Rich, FMS still make poorly designed models from poor quality control. I purchased a T-28 recently had the first problem right out of the box; a stripped aileron servo. FMS refused to replaced it unless I made a video showing that it did not work. How does one make a video of a still object? This is not the main issue though. The second time I connected the ESC, it caught fire. I have been flying RC since 1978, while stationed On Midways Island in the Navy. Never had an ESC catch fire until now. Of course, they are not going to replace the ESC either without legal action, which is to come. Just be aware that their control remains a big issue. Why not acknowledge the issues when you find them?
I have really not had those issues. Ive had a few bad servos over the last decade, but it is very rare. Ive had a few ESCs with issues and one fire, but these are all rare occurances... what plane is this and where did you get it?
nice clip dear
Took them forever to get the Corsair right, but they did with this model as far as lines, correct angles and correct outline. Looks nice.

Absurdly underpowered....they did such a great job on the Tigercat...but this looks like a slug....
Just needs a 6s 8000 pack. But I like the looks and the scale details! I dont want a warbird flying 700mph scale speeds...it flies as it should! A bigger battery will help with the cg for sure and it will be usable weight instead of dead weight..
Ray..... it was already a 7000 mah battery, who makes a 8000? And then you can only use it in one plane 🧐
With this motor...it can’t even get out of its own way....
Should really balance the Corsair with the retracts up as the CG moves back when they are retracted.
It does not really matter where you balanced from as long as you balance it the same way each time.
