Really? I guess it is a demonstration of how different people like different things. For example, I think that Mesopotamia is their absolute worst album, and I rarely listen to it, yet you think that it is their best album. We are polar opposites!
Thanks for uploading this one! Those song versions are, even if maybe a little lower quality, so much better than the ones on Spotify where they have lots of missing tones and sound in general more "polished" (in a bad way) for some reason. This video is the only one where I found the "raw" versions I haven't known before!
I remember when this EP came out... I worked at a record store and it was NOT easy for us to get copies, it had a pretty limited distribution contract obviously. Even the full album "Whammy" that came out a few months later was hard to get enough to put on sale... The industry did not care about the B-52's. We loved these records because they sounded like NOBODY else and always had a cool vibe to them...
It's an excellent album but Wild Planet is their masterpiece that's just facts . You can like what ya like it's a free country but Wild Planet is their best with the self titled debut right behind . This is definitely in the top 5 tho.
This used to be the first album I would lead off any long road trip with. On my way to visit a long distance girlfriend, would leave at dawn and this would be the first cassette in the tape player. Memories of anticipation.
Saw them live soo many times! The rhythm of our youth! Funnest dance party band ever..always peaceful energetic peers that just wanna rock out and have a great time! Love them! They will turn ears for generations to come. Ya.
I hated this album when it came out. It just bombed on me. Recently I watched their US Festival appearance. Great performances. The songs from Mesopotamia blew me away! I like the clever lyrics that no one could ever write. “I’ll meet you at/by the third pyramid in Mesopotamia”. Thrilling!

I live on the moon, it's called the moon, and everyone is there.
This album is sooo underated. Mesopotamia is simply an amazing album.
What makes you believe it's underrated?

I read somewhere that the european releases of this album have a more electronic sound than the US

At least they nominated for "Love Shack & "Roam". 🤔 I believe.

Why judge someone by a crappy award?

Third pyramid. Yes. #3 Illuminati gate 3, pyramid with that 👁️
If you like this particular flavour of the B52s, the band "Warpaint" carry on Cindy and Kate's vocal excellence
I don't know why they hardly ever played "Loveland" live. It's my fave song off this album.
💃
