I know this video is 3 years old now but about a year ago my wife's S7s battery got punched and I had to get to new S9s but she had over 1k pictures of our young kids and stuff on her S7 With this video I was able to pull her mother board and put it in to my old S7 and get everything off of her mother board. So thank you so much for doing what you do!
I don't really care if my Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge has a broken screen. I gotta golden ticket (1:14) in my phone for a Willy Wonka Chocolate bar! XD
I like your attitude!
+JerryRigEverything Thanker you Mr. DoctorPhoneSurgeon! :)

YES
I'm going to get the S7 and tear it down just to get my gold ticket
Bobby Jay gold ticket?
@@williame.i7272 Did you even watch the video?
Do you even willy wonka?
2:20 Galaxy S7 owner here, still in 2020. And yes my phone absolutely overheats.
Can confirm. 2020 S7 gang also!
If I play certain games while charging at the same time for too long, it will outright force close said game due overheating LOL
2022, have been using my S7 since 2017. Every day youtube, every day gets discharged. NEVER had overheating issues. Best phone I've had. But battery and charging port are very used
I'm still using mine, it definitely does get hot when gaming but it doesn't seem to mess with the proformance too much, it plays Minecraft pe perfectly fine and Call of duty mobile, Pubg mobile on the other hand used to run perfect about 3 years ago but now its almost unplayable. We'll see how much longer the phone last, I got it in 2019.
Hey, I am using the S7 now even in 2023, purchased in 2017. Did replace the battery in 2021 after that it became fast and quite usable even till now. Excellent device.
@@_stardust__ nice, I'm also still on my S7. original battery. I'm a light user. it has aged really well performance wise. still runs the applications I need it to without any issues.
I fix phones in a repair shop and know about the difficulty of safely removing the OLED screen without damaging it. It isn't impossible but it requires more consistent heat than a typical heat gun can offer and avoiding using metal tools near the corner like that. OLEDs are safe with temperatures of up to 100-105 Celsius on a heat plate or a heat gun with temperature controls. I like to start from the top and work my way to the bottom with business cards, leaving the soft key lights cables for last because they become visible. It's certainly harder with the Edge screens but not impossible either, just requires more patience and a delicate touch. Also, for removing the back glass, you can avoid scraping the paint like that by lifting the glass a bit more and then using either a guitar pick or card to loosen the adhesive. You can get away with it on white phones with some white-out to cover up but better to not scrape it at all!
+enos218 I typically replace the oled/digitizer assembly, not just the glass. Assuming you have the expensive machinery and high skill required to perform a glass only repair, it seems separating and cleaning the oled may be easier than usual but I can't be sure how they are attached based on this video. This isn't a phone that I would recommend a DIY repair on with the exception of maybe replacing the back glass, cameras, or rear camera lens. Anything requiring screen removal you should take to a repair shop or honestly have insurance on it.
where is the liquid cooling unit you were going to show us?
It's that little copper thing
its not like a classical PC liquid cooling. It's way different. If you pry open the copper water will immediately evaporate as there's such a small amount you can see it microscopically.
Is it vapor cooling or w/e it is called?
Teardown videos make me cringe but I really like your commentary! You always have a really funny joke in there just to keep it entertaining.
This golden ribbon gets you a free candy bar, so save it for later.
best statement
+IceVines Seriously though, what is the golden ribbon
I GOTTA GOLDEN TIICKET
It must be good to know you killed it with all your voice overs, lol. every time
+themrjones lol Thanks!
themrjones LCD
I m pretty sure no one actually replaces these by themselves.
everyone watches for fun.
+tech inc
Lol. In a year or two, I will have no problem popping mine open for a repair. Right now, I cant imagine even scratching it so forget about prying it apart. Also that water resistance is gone even after you put it back together.
Not for my S5 and Z3. Yes for my S7 edge
Tech Incorporated yep.😂
I'm actually planning on doing this for my s7 because the battery drains SO FUCKING FAST. Also, I enjoying fixing things by myself, it's fun for me personally. I've been taking shit apart for ages so I feel pretty good that I won't fuck it up. I'll back my phone up before just in case.
And in terms of water resistance, I'll just have to treat my phone like an old fashioned cell phone till the s9 comes out. Not a problem.
I just opened mine
I work in a phone repair/accessory place and my boss replaced the charging port for me without changing the screen, I knew he was good, didn't realise HOW good until now...
Ben O'Sullivan My girlfriend's best friend took my girlfriend's s7 and dropped it and the internal screen broke. Now my girlfriend's mother tries to convince my girlfriend that it's not worth the money to replace the screen and wants to buy my girlfriend a new phone, the Redmi 5. The Redmi costs 200 € while the screen costs 170€. Am I the only one that finds thus stupid? I wanted to ask for your opinion because you said you work at a repair place.
Stratis Charis To be very honest with you, once a phone breaks it will never be the same, getting a new phone might be the better option.
Ben O'Sullivan But to change from the s7 to the Redmi 5? Even after the repair I believe it will be a downgrade
That's a huge downgrade in performance, camera, screen, call quality, LTE speeds and many samsung based features such as samsung pay and secure folder. Its better to just fix the screen. There's no new $200 smartphone that can outperform an old galaxy s7 no matter the test even if you step up to a new $300 budget smartphone, you'd still loose out on many things.
Stratis Charis If you have confidence in the repairer then repair it but make sure he's using a good quality screen and is reliable.
Dayum!! How much he has changed in 3 yrs.. Watching it in August 2019..
Almost 2021 and yeah, hes changed
you make these teardowns so interesting
+Kevin “Cernel” Korn Thanks man! I appreciate it.
This video, along with your smooth voice, were the deciding factors of my subscription. Yay!
Great video brother. The closeup shots are what really got me (specifically the part where you disconnected the charging port from the phones motherboard.) What camera is that by the way?
Is the glass rear panel in the video description official ? Is it as durable and strong as the one on the phone ?
I have cracked my rear glass, will it be difficult to remove and change it ?
thanks
Excellent production, thank you! Can you tell me what camera are you using for recording? Great quality!
Thanks for the video JerryRigEverything, it really helped me!!
These videos are so satisfying
your tests are the best
that discoloration is from the heat gun probably
Daniel Prodan heat gun or spontaneous incincdiary combustion
Probably but I have this phone and it does have overheating issues when playing gaming and especially when fast charging (I know it's supposed to get a little warm during fast charging but it get HOT).
Fiery43 yeah, it's SO annoying sometimes
@@milk11percent 2020 S7 user gang. Can confirm. It can get so hot that it will force close certain apps if charging and playing at the same time for too long! 😅
@@Spearra thats so true, sometimes im playing fortnite and it overheats and then it closes the app by itself, so annoying. (Almost 2021 btw, 2021 S7 usergang?)
I successfully removed the LCD without damaging it. It's definitely feasible. Then I successfully removed the broken glass, using a hot plate and molybdenum wire. Then cleaned all the old loca off the screen. Screen was still working fine. Applied new loca and glass panel, no problems. But then I went to install the refurbished LCD back into the frame, and that's when it cracked! Alignment seemed good, so I dunno know what went wrong, but the LCD is so thin. I won't be doing glass only replacement on the S7, too hard. :-/
Thanks for the tip. I was thinking I might be special enough to do this without cracking it. I won't bother I guess...no USB or ADB for me...
It's not an LCD it's and OLED display
JayRay00 its an amoled stupid, not lcd
That's what happened when I changed screen on my Ipad. Everything went so well but the last extra pressing in the end when installing cracked the new one.
The Galaxy S7 has an active matrix organic LED display, not a liquid crystal display like the iPhones.
I just replaced my battery and camera with the help of this video. Thank-You!
Jerry rig everything your chanel is the best chanel your telling us about that phone better thanks man.......
@ 2:25 the answer is a hot yes. I think Samsung has been aware of this problem for awhile & is just happily sending you in to their techs to take apart & charge you for their mistake. This phone also has major screen flickering & black screen issues. Won't be touching another Samsung again.
Nice video, I assumed you put everything back together. Did you have to reapply glue to the smaller components like the capacitive buttons and charging port?
Lovin your channel
Hi JerryRigEverything
, it's a very good video, usefull & clear, great!
you are the greatest .... for this matter. great video
This is old.. also Not what I thought it was gonna be like but I can’t stop watching?! Might just have to subscribe
"No wonder it passed my bend test" I laugh when he said it
you need to watch more of his uploads.
This is very fine and sensitive tech. Good Job.
i have the s7 edge to, and i like your humor :) if i want to laugh im just watching one of your videos lol. you are the best keep on going ^^
thank you for this
Wow, I was watching this video so intensely that at the end for a second I was surprised to see my own phone still in one piece on my desk.
+Wilvin Crawford your own phone is tupis as shit nigga

Interesting tutorial
Jerry: You'll never survive my business cards!!!
Yeah, I just got the Galaxy s7 on June 30th and today (August 1st) I dropped it and the back glass broke. This video was very helpful, thank you. I have repaired cell phones and tablets and even cameras before, but this will be the first time I have had to replace a glass back...I wish I could replace it with a metal one...if you have any suggestions for that, let me know!
Will you also make a tear down and repair video for HP Elite X3
nice video and i´am a bit jealous... ;)
is it possible, in your opinion, to get the lcd disassembly done without the destruction of the display or is there to much adhesive or is the display to thin?
I been using the s7 for years and still rocking the head phone jack and yes modern apps do make the phone tosty but performs great
Good one Jerry. Thumbs up
If i destroy my charging port i still have my wireless charging xd
another fantastic video
In case someone is curious to disassembly this phone the AUTHORIZED way we do it at our Repair Centre:
1. Make sure you heat up the edges all over first with the heat gun. It has to be heated up evenly for the adhesive to release easier.
2. Once heated up attach the suction cup and slightly try pulling gently with very little force and if it won't move at all try heating up more until it starts moving and insert your thin plastic opener tool (knife is not a good idea what he used in the video u can damage components inside).
3. This way it comes off very easily, although there is NO WAY TO AVOID SCRATCHING THE BACK COVER AS HE DID TOO at 0:44 while removing it. Basically the back cover is just a piece of plastic that has that kind of very thin coloured foil or paint. What we do at our repair centre is we always put a new one on, freshly lasered on the serial number etc. In real life you wouldn't need a serial number, but order a new back cover always if you do it for customers. :)
PS: Other than that nicely done!
Its verry intresting to see this disassembly, sorry for misstakes I'm a german people. Good luck.
Well done.
Thanks Zack for the help I have a black one so I used another tool
Nice job bro !
why jerry you did not done scratch test and burn test & bend test for galaxy s7
Thanks for the tool link
Yes it has overheating issues (I'm using a standard S7)
amazing,, this time you went so deep
Is the replacement screen something like $200+ ?
+Crazy Candy Crush Ya, I have it linked in the video description.
lmao I spent $200 on a refurbished galaxy s7
Hysteria I spent $79.00 on a brand new s7
Seems about $150 these days. But I just got a whole S7 for about $175. However, I never realized the prices of AMOLED screen replacement. I was wondering why the iPhones screens were so cheap - LCD. The iPhone X screen very expensive now though being AMOLED. The downside of used phone is I have to replace my battery it is estimated to only 2100mAh capacity and it shows by how fast it drains. that's why I am watching this video.
The Tech Librarian coz they have newer phones now
Hi Jerry! Does the back glass in the description can make the phone waterproof again ?
The golden ticket is for the tour around the Willy Wonker chocolate factory. There was only 5 of them and can be found when you open the wrapper of the chocolate bar if you are lucky.
Since you're so good at doing this I was hoping I could ask you a question . first day I got this phone it worked great , I used it for a hour or two on gear vr . but now it gets overheated so quick . I don't understand why
Jerry
Would you please tellme your opinion about the lenovo vibe shot? Is it a durable phone?
Hi jerry, I have a hot plate for removing lcds from the glass. Could I use the hot plate to soften the adhesive on the back and front? Or would that be too risky
@jerryrigeverything are the amoled screens and glass replacements sold separately?
@JerryRigEverything I'm about to get this phone does it have overheating problem ? I'm kinda worried after watching your tear down . thanks
you are the man!!
Hey jerry was size thickness of adhesive did you use on the s7?
Question! What are the 3 circles that are front facing and look like cameras to the left of my ear piece, which is to the left of the front facing camera?
can you do teardowns of clone phones? i would love to see those
hey jerry im curious if any the samsung s7 g935f has a model specific screen? like g935f chassis to g935f screen etc
Hi I was wondering if you could do a durability test on the 2017 Samsung Galaxy A5 if possible
Good job. You braked not cheap amoled screen :D
Im watching this on my galaxy s7
you are correct about the overheating issue.
I have no idea why it brings such joy in my life when I watch a phone or anything electronic get broken down. it's like porn...lol.! Awesome vid bro!
is it worth getting g the screen replace like do I get to keep the 5ft water resistant etc after replacing just the screen my led back bored great i just need the glass replace.
This guy needs to start a merch line "just like a Lego" XD
You have to remove the screen for charge port replacement on the s6 as well. I did it no problem without heat and I reused the old adhesive still attached to the screen that I didn't damage.
This is amazing , what you can do with phone. if i could do same, i would replace all the possible things in the housing of one of best looking phone.
Hi Jerry I'd like to see the bending test of the flat s7.
thanks for the video 100%
who else watches these because they're satisfying?
Is the fingerprint scanner unique to the motherboard? I’m trying to buy a motherboard and swap it in a s7 that is locked due to a google account previously synced in it. I just wanna know if it works unlike the iPhone 6 and above.
Hey jerry is there an internal qi charging pad replacement for the phone that exists anywhere?
@jerryrigeverything just wanted to aak you how can i totally peel if the paint in the S7 home button, mine started pweling off, and i wanted just to completely remove the paint on it. Thanks in advance,
What do you scratch out on the back of a lot of the phones you test or tear down and why?
Hey I'm using this exact phone and it seems to have those overheating issues as you mentioned, do you think applying thermal paste to that discolored chip would help it dissipate that heat better? Or how else can I fix this hot phone?
U r just awersome
+JerryRigEverything How do you rate the build quality of onplus 3 when compared to S7 or Iphone 6s+ ??
#Curious
I just dropped my GS7(onyx black) yesterday and I'm glad to know I can repair the screen but it dropped on the corner. Is there a replacement part for the silver wall.
Do the camera and heart rate sensor have individual plastic films over them?
Hey, Zack. Do you still use that wall mounted pc build?
This video helped me properly "Jerry rig" an intel heatsink to the back of my S7 so it would not overheat.
+jerryrigeverything the back panel of my s7 edge is cracked could you tell me where to get a replacement back panel
hello.. do u mind telling me which part is the actual signal antenna. i recently had my phone fixed and since then i have noticed constant drop calls n lost of signal.
Hi, i need to replace my friends screen, just the screen is cracked. I wanted to know if i can buy just the screen or do i need to also buy the one with the digitizer?
Nice video
Wow what a great job! He opens up the back and behold, a clean looking inside like the way the Germans seals up their Benz engines..That was beautiful from Samsung. Thanks, Man!!
Your voice is calmer now u were stressed back than
hi my s7 front glass was broken yesterday...is there a chance to be replaced just the front glass? and there's no need to open the back and touch some other pieces on its board?
what are the two little pin holes for. one on top edge one on bottom edge. on the s7 active
Is the Qi charger needed or could I leave it out for a clear back mod?
My old s7 overheated sometimes and got slow when it did...what do you think it was from?
