Nice, you're the best 240p HD up-sampled 4k sony a7siii with a 900mm videographer/vlogger that uses topaz in Toronto I bet. Pretty close to my Bluebird out of focus feeder/birdbath work. Animal eye detect is so absolutely...sorta reliable sometimes...usually in the middle of the day with full sun, blinding blue sky devoid of any detail to be exploited for toneh.
I know it's a lowly APS-C camera but the video AF for birds on the a6700 is top notch. With the 200-600 without the TC you have amazing reach. The crop in 4k120 helps in the case of wildlife. I haven't shot the HD 240 but I'm sure it's pretty good. Cheers.
The bird at 4:25 is a male American Goldfinch. This was a very relaxing video. Following songbirds as they take off is very, very hard. You see that little crouch before flight and hope it goes in the right direction.
Cardinal-cam is okay... but I miss the squirrel-cam you used to use. Just like you like to go back to the X3000, I wish you would also go back to the squirrels. In the cardinals vs squirrels fight, the squirrels always win.
I used birds as practice when I was a young fotographer. I would practice manual focus and tracking them. Once you start nailing it, photographing anything else is super easy. In some situations manual focus still beats autofocus.
Nikkor 800mm is extremely well balanced, and feels much lighter than it is as a result. I've shot with it for long periods, and held it waiting for woodpeckers to come out of the nest at a 45 degree angle for pretty long stretches.. Basically you can hold it longer before noticing the weight, but once you notice, as with any heavy lens, you need to point it down for awhile. My go to on Nikkor was the 200-400 which is similarly front heavy as your 200-600 (but amazing stabilization). The 800mm isn't my favorite lens, but it is very good for what it is. Particularly on the 24mp sensor it is very good as that sensor does very well in low light (better than Z8/Z9)
There is an app called Merlin which will name the bird from a picture or the sound it makes. It does lie, sometimes. Probably because it is free. Maybe there is a paid version that almost never lies.
Kasey I think I missed the reason you're manual focusing on wildlife. Is it because manual focus is more fun or do you find Sony animal eye detect unreliable, or could it be that twigs and whatnot is messing with the AF
more of these videos please. i feel its been a while since you've done this style of video but i enjoy it. "Why you cant leave sony" but, the panasonic s1h successor IS coming. When I buy that bad boy I looked forward to getting some similar footage to compare to you :p
Dilemma: love birding, but really not committed to lugging around a lens as big and heavy as 200-600. Would love a faster 400mm prime, maybe f/5.6, but how about not costing as much as 100-400GM. They could sacrifice the zoom and just make it a prime. Sigma are you listening?
Love all the feathered dinosaurs! I wonder if they are sad and jump because they are no longer the dominate giants on the flat Earth. Great shots. I have to be careful when drinking coffee and the Cardinal grave stone flashed on the screen, I laughed with a mouth full of coffee. Not a pretty picture. Looking forward to the digicam point and shoot reviews!
Funny - what do I think? You have lots of competition online - I really think the Canon is better for birds - plus my GoPro 12 with the Max Lens Mod 2.0 - can capture - most #1 camera stuff - no need for an expensive Sony camera
I was smoking in this tree, before i quit smoking, and the most shit ever was caught on video, my eye balls. When you hit a tree with a baseball bat, like kids are bound to be taught by someone chewing Skoll Tobaco, there's a good fun amount of zeros before you arrive at square head she ra. The next day, the tree had been assaulted by a baseball bat...three years ago, big old hole with my cigarettes ashes and butt's still right there. Thats why birds are potty mouths.
Female sparrows in camouflage is like taking home a drunk woman at 4 am. The next morning the camouflage is gone and you realize what a mistake you made.
Sony is like visiting a hospital. Everything is disinfected, has a schedule and is working. I know it‘s very good if i‘m having serious problems with my health. But i will not stay for even one more minute if it isn’t necessary. I like things with quirks and problems, that‘s why i‘m with Nikon (Pls help me)
If I could sell my A7 IV and lenses without losing too much cash, i would. Sony isn't what it used to be. The A7IV would be my disappointment product of the year, if not for the fact, that i do not care about it's videofeatures.
VP you are such a bird lover, ever consider getting a 🦜 parrot? Lovebirds are one of the easier ones to take care of if you get them really young so they imprint to you. Then you can be like a pirate
get closer to wildl...wait... you can't? Sony A7S whatever with what? 200-600...maybe with a P&S or a bridge cam you could, 720 mm to 3000mm at your will, yeah, you completely missed the point on that vid about compacts.
ruclips.net/video/K0ub7poyQPA/видео.htmlsi=unFDjApHNITMpIXC This test is worth watching. Fujifilm Kaizan lies exposed. XH2s with best newest 33mm Fuji lens is worse than 10yr old Sony A6000 with a Viltrox stepping motor lens. And he uses Toneh

5:10 The don't see a Sony, they SMELL Sony!
7:35 Its only happens for Sony owners :)
I bought the Austin Texas bird identification guide. It was one page. It had a sparrow on the front, and a grackle on the back.

Documented video confirming that birds always know what kind of camera system you are using.
good to see you back in the natural world, regardless of which system you're on.
You are truly the next David Attenborough.

"My dog was running, majestically ...and it looked like he had rabies" 🤣 WHAT?!
U make me laugh out loud at least once in all your videos. Good stuff, man. Keep it up!
The bird at 4:25 is a male American Goldfinch. This was a very relaxing video. Following songbirds as they take off is very, very hard. You see that little crouch before flight and hope it goes in the right direction.
Man that Nikon 40/2 is almost enough reason all by itself to buy a Nikon camera. Some kind wonderful cross between modern and vintage.
Cardinal-cam is okay... but I miss the squirrel-cam you used to use. Just like you like to go back to the X3000, I wish you would also go back to the squirrels.

That blue bird at the end with the blue flowers is absolutely beautiful
So glad I stuck around for the blue guy at the end!
Even my Sony phone can track cat/bird eyes but the zoom can not reach.

You need to stretch time, so you can make nature's beautiful moments last longer for us to enjoy 🙏💚
Was that a European Starling at the end? Where my ornithologist homies at?
I still like Fuji colors better
Because you need a PS5 account to zoom without ads?
Nice birds! A monopod is pretty handy at stopping the sway. Of course you know that, but I wanted to say anyway
There is an app called Merlin which will name the bird from a picture or the sound it makes. It does lie, sometimes. Probably because it is free. Maybe there is a paid version that almost never lies.
You are the cinema ...
Get the r6 mark ii and the canon 200-800...you will love it.
I've never had a problem keeping him in the box.
You know what would be amazing? If Fuji and Sony had a baby, and the outcome was a colour science auto focus beast?
Kasey I think I missed the reason you're manual focusing on wildlife. Is it because manual focus is more fun or do you find Sony animal eye detect unreliable, or could it be that twigs and whatnot is messing with the AF
Omg you literally answered the question yourself 🤦🏻 I had not finished watching the video

You should start animal documentary series! You are better and more immersive than David Attenborough. Great video as always. Cheers!
This blue bird at the end is it the same yellow finch coloured in blue? Looks beautiful.
I’m fully subscribed to the sparrow saga of 2024
Give me stats for how long does it take for Topaz to process your clips to these specifications...
this video made this "hairy old photographer", very happy this morning.
That upscale footage looks nice. I got a cardinal in HD 120 fps on A7IV. Looked so muddy. I had an ND filter on, which seemed to mess with focus.
Dang… I still can’t get over that frickin mic, now you can do any diet you want, but still sound like a carnivore.
It's so good that it's almost offensive

Your Sony has better colors than my Sony. I get more pastel, watercolor hues.
Sony is great im not denying that but your best footage was with the Gh6 and the fuji. Maybe g9II?
Sony is just expensive after the mark 3. Both Sony and Canon are delusional in their pricing.
Great shots dude 👌🏻☺

is physiical stabe like ibis and lens moving part better the fuller the batteries are? does it get worse when the batterries are closer to empty??
A few more years of practice with manual focus and you will have the skills down pat. Some nice footage here…but I can’t find the link to that shirt!

Did you try to cover the Sony branding on your A7sIII with a tape?
9:30 Can't you tap to track on the bird here? Or does it not work like that?

do u still use the FDRx3000?
Nikon Z8 bird AF beats the A1 in many cases.

Nah, man, you don't really need Sony, most cameras can do everything Sony cameras can and much more... SMH....
sony doesn't have any colors you need to spend hours colorgrading videos
It's not true. There are plenty of in-camera settings you can do for Sony if you want to skip grading afterwards. Pros don't skip grading, of course.
