One of the most kickass Megadeth songs ever.
Also, the first 2 albums (Killing Is My Business and Peace Sells) were actually recorded on B.C Rich guitars, this is the album where they switched to Jackson.

Megadeth live in Essen (1988) is very good, that video has time stamps in the description to easily get to each song

P.s. I don’t like anything live from megadeth after 89, because Dave’s voice is so unappealing to hear

Mustaine went from BC Rich to Jackson after peace sells, wasn’t until the 2000s he went to Dean
If you want to hear some killer riffs ( in one song) check out Australian band Ouroboros and the song Edifice Of Tyranny
    Ouroboros - Edifice Of Tyranny

Mustaine got the Jackson deal, through Dan Sptiz (Anthrax) right around the time this came out. I still have the issue of Guitar Magazine (somewhere) with them talking about it, and they, together were the “centerfold.”

React to Megadeth - In My Darkest Hour video though.
Sepultura as well, do songs like:
    Desperate Cry
    Inner Self
    Arise
    Dead Embryonic Cells
    Troops of Doom
    To The Wall
    Territory
    Propaganda
    Roots Bloody Roots
    Attitude
It's a nice way to see their evolution though it's not completely in chronological order.

Now that's another lineup, the new guys are Jeff Young (guitar) and Chuck Belher (drums)
This album its bad ass! But the only problem its that it was sandwiched by Peace Sells and RIP. Listen to In My Darkest Hour, a tribute song to Cliff Burton!

  • @astro2691

This is in fact the first album he recorded with his Jackson. Peace Sells was recorded with a BC Rich - Rich Bich. He got his first Jackson just after peace sells came out.
Daves tapping solo is just a descending chromatic pattern. So its not really any scale.

This is the thrash meal version, of The Devil Went Down to Georgia (Charlie Daniels band) clearly the words are different but the song structure is DAMNED similar.

Chuck Belher (drummer) was Gar Samuelson's (latest drummer) roadie, and when Chuck was fired who joined was his roadie Nick Menza!
Now Jeff wasn't supposed to be the guitarist, was a guy called Jay Reynolds, but on the record seasons he told Dave that the songs was too much dificult and he needed some lessons , then he called his teacher Jeff, and Dave saw that Jeff was way better to fit the band than Jay lol

Love the Megadeth reactions! You should checkout DEATH. Badass guitar techniques and phenomenal writing!
    1. Flattening of Emotions
    2. "Suicide Machine"
    3. "Together as One"
    4. "Secret Face"
    5. "Lack of Comprehension"
Pick any of the first 5 songs. Honestly Can’t go wrong with any song off this album.

I Agree that liar would be a great reaction video. I would definitely suggest “my last words” from Peace Sells. Dave used a BC rich “rich Bich” on killing is my business and peace sells which is why the tone is different from Peace sells. He switched to Jackson’s on this album (so far, so good, so what!) that you’re listening to and played Jackson’s all the way up until 2004 when he switched to ESP for about two or three years then went to Dean I think in 2007 or 2008

This album sounds almost like an european record like Destruction or something on guitars .
Exception of the first album , this album is raw , dark , raunchy , disturbing .
Aside from the state of the band or not, there a feeling of suffering into that record . Despair .
Dave voice was more euuaaaaaargh that the nasal voice that most people know since RIP .

Megadeth didn't get soft.. they got heavier. Listen to Lying in State or The Threat is Real. Dave couldn't sing like this anymore so they tuned down and changed things up on the Dystopia album which was brutal heavy.

Thank you. Great picks you made. The whole album is great. Death From Within is one of my favorites with the twin solo part. One is legato, the other staccato. Post American World and Poisonous Shadows are notable standouts too. The album has a more refined heaviness IMO

Id say they dont really get "softer" with the exception being the album Risk, wich could be compared to St Anger for being the worst of the band, they do experiment a lot in the 90s, after Rust in Peace they only get back to making thrash albums in the 2000s, the more experimental albums being Countdown to Extinction, Youthanasia, Cryptic Writings and Risk.
Countdown is still pure metal with thrash influences still in it, you can start to see the experimention that started in Rust in Piece really develop on Countdown, its also their best selling album, my personal recomendation for a reaction would be Ashes in Your Mouth.
Youthanasia is where the thrash influences start to die down, while the album is still metal there is a clear attempt to make more radio friendly music, wich gets more pronounce on Cryptic Writings and on Risk, my personal recomendation for Youthanasia would be A Tout le Monde, a ballad that while the composition isnt necessarily complex the lyrics and topic are the real star here, its also the most popular song on the album.
Cryptic Writings could be considered half metal and half hard rock with Trust and I'll Get Even being more radio friendly, and songs like Vortex, FFF and The Disintegrators being more thrash, while i still love this album i'd say that the extremely odd song structures that Megadeth had on the first 5 albums is pretty much gone wich is a bummer, overall the album is still great, just hard to be called thrash anymore, my favorite song on the album is The Disintegrators, just a real short, fast and fun thrashy song, one of the least popular on the album, doubt anyone would request a reaction to the song.
Risk is basically their most "sellout" after the release of Countdown, Dave really tried to beat Metallica's Black Album in sales, as he admited in one of his books, the label was also constantly pushing for more radio friendly music and on Risk that is very apparent, Marty Friedman (the lead guitarist for all of the 90s) was also getting sick from making metal and wanted to make more "jPop oriented music" wich i think is hilarious. While Risk isnt a bad album on its own, its definetly the weakest Megadeth album, it cant really be called metal and most of the song while not being bad per see just sound like they were made to be radio friendly and nothing else (wich they were), as far as interesting songs i'd say Time the Beginning and Time the End are the most worthwhile on the album, but again i doubt anyone would request or even care for a reaction of any song on risk.
So yeah thats it for the 90s, while they started with Rust in Piece and Countdown to Extinction the former of wich most would agree is not only the best megadeth album as far as composition and technicallity go, its up there with Master of Puppets for best metal album of all time (id say rust in piece is better, only a little bias here since while deth is my favorite band metallica is a close second). And for the latter being not only the most sold deth album but also the most influential.
After countdown you can definitly see the "selling out", specially with Cryptic Writings and Risk. Good news is after Risk Dave was really sick of chasing album sales and in the 2000s went back to making thrash metal with the strongest albums of the 2000s being The System has Failed and Endgame imo, and the strongest of the 2010s being Dystopia by far.
Not gonna elaborate more on the 21st century deth cuz the comment is already a wall of text and i dont wanna make it any worse lol.

    • @deaconj3406
      @deaconj3406 3 года назад

Little add ins.. the reason for going back to their thrash roots with TSHF is because Dave retired and they lost Petrelli and DeGrasso. To fill in, they brought back Chris Poland and resumed putting forth bangers.
Id also plug United Abominations because there's some stuff on that record like Sleepwalker and Washington is Next..

You chose a great song mate, its amazing and seemingly so under rated. Great guitar playing and groove and it illustrates the style/technicality that Metallica could never reach.
