Our mini 4-night adventure included a lot of wind, rain, and mud!

I have a rescue dog too (Shih Tzu cross), and thought he was the best cuddler ever - but Winston puts him to shame. They are both well loved

So many times through Winston's life I have looked outside at the weather and wished I could stay inside but needed to take Winston for a walk. And then, after a few minutes of being outside, I start to enjoy it. As long as I have on the appropriate clothing, I arrive back home feeling much better than how I left.

We toured the UK in September/October last year in a hired motor home. We joined the UK Camping and CaravaningClub before coming over. It was great having those facilities. The staff were so helpful. Did come across one or two dog washes.
I'm a member of the club. I like it because you know you're going to get a suitable pitch with clean facilities. Pre-booking a campsite and then arriving to an unkept place can spoil the whole trip; especially if you have to stay there for the next few days.

@@Roz.S we were in Scotland the first week of October. Really saw what UK rain was driving into Edinburgh on the 7th October from Aviemore. Beautiful hot days when arrived in London the first week of September. Weather was variable for us after about the third week. I enjoy watching your videos and young Winston especially. Thank you for sharing your trips with us. Look forward to future videos. I have a soft spot for the UK.

I am so glad you are making use of the van throughout the year . So many people out here only use their caravan two or three times a year. So happy to see you both enjoying yourselfs . Unfortunately that is the price you have to pay.

Winter touring has actually been more enjoyable than I expected. We're lovely and warm inside the caravan and the campsites are nice and quiet. Yes we get wet and muddy, but as long as we clean up properly before going back inside the caravan, it's not a problem.

Excellent walking to heel by Winston. Our 12yr old working cocker isn't so good at that because 1) he's a Spanish rescue 2) he's now deaf 3) we got him a bit too late to train properly. Love your videos, thank you and well done.

Ahh, another lovely heartwarming video, thankyou. I know what you mean about getting home and the car and van are dirty, like you I just have to give them a clean! Best wishes for 2024 and may you and Winston have lots of safe enjoyable time together 👍👍🐶
It's that time of year where everything gets dirty every time you drive somewhere. It's hard to keep it all clean. But, I bought the caravan and van to use, and they're no good sitting in the yard (which is what I have to keep telling myself every time I take them out 😅)

Regarding the wellies: you need to invest in some Aigle Parcours. They are French, excellent, and designed to support your feet and ankles like walking boots. I used to wear mine for walking the dog, then up to the horses, muck out, poo pick the field, ride, return home and walk the dog again. IOW, I sometimes wore them for 6-8 hours a day and they are SOOOO comfortable. Well worth the money.
Thank you for the recommendation! However, I have flat flexible feet and my podiatrist tells me off for walking in wellies 🙈 (I used to walk Winston in a pair of Hunters.) My short cheap pair of Joules wellies that you see in the video I bought just to walk Winston around the campsite in the morning (wet grass), I didn't intend to walk any distance in them, but at Kingsbury Water Park I had no choice 😂😂

Temu sell over boot waterproof covers. I haven’t tried them and they’re not expensive. Yummy I love Tomato Soup with garlic brochette’s. Winston is a lovely dog and you are a lovely young lady ❤

Brilliant content as always, love Winston, my 2 year old cocker Bella would love a playmate like him , love how you care for him , I have a mud daddy insulated portable shower, I put hot/warm water in it and it stays warm for hours, it pressurises like that spray you have, can’t wait for your next adventure, oh and I love your pod it is so cute ❤️

Those obstacles look like a junior version of the bottom field at CTCRM, Lympstone! Yes, you run up those steps and jump from the top. 👍

Love the video. You can get boots that are between wellies and shoes. They are working boots, acid and waterproof with toe protectors. But I have never seen them for woman. On washing dogs. Short piece of garden hose with spray attachment and fits on drinking water tap, or waste water tap. My camera is broken at the moment but planing a winter essential items video for caravans, campervans and motorhomes. Cheers from old George and Jane

Maybe get yourself a padded lap tray for when the bed is down- you could sit with your back against the pod - might be more comfortable.
Thank you. The problem is that it's just another thing to carry. This trip was just a short one, but in the summer we sometimes go away for 4+ weeks at a time and we have to be careful of the weight the van carries/tows. So the less we have to take, the better. 👍🏼

I think I have never seen a happier dog like your sir Winston 🥰 I whish my cat Felix would love to join me in the car with my caravan behind ... but he don't even like to go 15 min to the vet .... miau miau miau without stop for 15 mins, on the way home he doesn't say much at all 😆

I’ve now rejoined the clubs and bought a used pod and have a young Cavapoo, Lewis - aka the Ginger Ninja. I haven’t been out in the pod yet but am booked for the Lakes at the start of April. Hotel Chocolat do a veletiser it not only heats whatever liquid (milk or water) to the correct temperature but blends the chocolate in as well, on trying to clean Winston Karcher do a battery powered (rechargeable) pressure washer plus they do a pet cleaning kit to go with it could have done with it when I had my last dog a Pyrenees mountain dog trying to keep something white and that size fourth road bridge.
Do you think hot chocolate tastes better when done in a veletiser? 🤔

@@Roz.S Have been away from the UK now for the last 27 years, so miss the countryside from back home in the East Midlands. It is very flat and featureless here to the south of Paris. But there are other more exciting places to visit in France. Van life over here would be attractive.
We get back to the UK once a year (with a 4 year gap due to the pandemic) where we always rent the same place in Leicestershire surrounded by rolling hills and sheep. Looking forward to our local walks on our next visit in the Spring. The Grand Union Canal is nearby too.
Anyway again a great channel 👍🏻. My French wife is loving it too, although the walks in the lake district looked a bit perilous for us but worth it. 😁

@@Roz.S Love Wales. Back in the 90's I had friends in Wem and Conwy, so had a good excuse to head over there. Will look forward to seeing your vlog. The landscape in the Lake District certainly looked impressive. I've never been there, furthest north I've ventured is Halifax! My wife, who is French, has ventured to Scotland & Ireland a few times. Again places I've never visited, but dream of going to. Bonne continuation (as we say here). 👍🏻
I have some waterproof sailing boots that have good support ..go above my calves and are waterproof like a welly. Bit pricey though. Made by Gil. Also Grunden and Xtra-tuf fishing boots might work as well.
I'll check them out. Ideally, I need some with laces and good ankle support. I used to walk miles in Hunter wellies, but I saw a podiatrist and she really told me off for that 🙈 so boots it was 😅

Winston rulz again! In New Zealand it's summer so camp grounds are completely over run including freedom camping.
That's one bonus of winter touring; the campsites are nice and quiet here. I'm sure the tables will turn soon.

Hi Roseanna, fab flog and love ❤️ Winston, but just a quick question can you fit an awning on the back of your pod. Take care Mark
It does have an awning rail, but no awnings are made to fit the Go Pods dimensions. I have tried 3 different awnings, along with different ways to secure them such as using limpets and clamps etc, but they never fit properly and just flap around in the wind, and I dislike the noise of a constant flappy tent. So, I gave up on awnings. (I did have a winge about them at this time point in this video - ruclips.net/video/llqKA5sZ30c/видео.htmlsi=EYCcwzW7SE_vds4P&t=563). Hope that helps explain. (I wish an awning did fit though, it would make my life a lot easier!)

Thank you so much. I got him from a spaniel rescue centre in Stoke called CAESSR (pronounced Cesar, and standing for Cocker and English Springer Spaniel Rescue.)

They are down. The pod only has two stability legs at the back, it doesn’t have front ones.
I think you’ll find us none doggy people would be a lot happier if your dog was kept on a lead and it’s the rule on most camp sites😕
When I walk around the campsite, he’s on a lead, but not when on my pitch. He’s very much a one-person dog and isn’t going to bother anyone walking past or on the next pitch.
When out walking, I avoid putting him on a lead at all costs. In my opinion, most of the behaviour problems dogs have are because people keep them on leads and don’t let them be dogs. “A life on a lead is no life for a dog”

I’m a fan of Bob Wells who did a RUclips video on using one of those spray bottles for a shower. He topped up the cold water in the bottle with some boiling water from his gas burner. Apparently it makes the water warm. Just a thought should Winston like a warmer wash down sometimes?
