  • I installed a DDJ-100 lift motor for our new Chandelier.
The motor was extremely easy to install and took our electrician about 30 mins.
Hooked up the Chandelier to the cable and just press the remote to raids or lower. Power will be connected to the Chandelier as soon as the lift motor is in the full UP position.
I uploaded this video as I couldn't find a decent video of the lift working. I recommend buying one of these if installing a Chandelier as it makes changing globes or cleaning so much easier.
    It was purchased from www.aliexpress.com

Just to follow up how do you rate the DDJ-100 after 2 years of service? It does not look like there is a unit cover on the ceiling. Did elecrtician mount the unit on ceiling surface or in the attic? Thanks for posting.

      Hi,
The motor still works fine. It doesn't get much work really as we lower it down about 1 a month for cleaning of the chandelier.
The motor was attached to the top of the ceiling rafters (about 75mm/3in from ceiling). You can mount it as high as you want really as there is more than enough cable on the motor (we have at least 2m spare). There wasn't any need to us to have a cover of any sort with our chandelier but some people may do and they offer covers for that.

can you share pictures from the attic? how did you attach it to the frame in the attic ? Does it stop automatically when you are lowering down the chandelier? It may hit the floor if you press stop button to late? no?

Hi Craig, I saw your video & purchased a DDJ100-5M from Aliexpress. Just arrived. Quick question - what hardware did you use to mount your canopy to the DDJ100's u-bolt (that goes into the horizontal hole in the center stem/pin/?right term?)? Did the height of the canopy hardware affect how far above the ceiling the bottom of the DDJ100 would be? (to allow the canopy to be flush with the ceiling when fully lifted/operational)?
      MTIA for any feedback, insights.

      Hi,
we just used some wood over the rafters in the ceiling to mount the motors etc.
then when you attach the chandelier to the cable you can adjust the motor from stopping it when it's fully up etc.I cannot remember exactly how it was done but it was in the manual etc. Then you can adjust the cap that the covers the hole in the ceiling etc to have it fully snug when it's fully up etc. it's trial and error so just adjust it bit by bit etc.
      good luck with it etc.

Hi Craig, Thanks for very quick response! I was wondering about the hardware between the hole for the supplied u-bolt & the top of your chandelier's canopy. The video was not (no surprise :-) zoomed into that area so I couldn't even guess. I found a 1" Clevis hanger and plan on using the section with the 3/8" hole, leaving off the actual pipe holding portion. The provided bolt is almost a perfect fit on the DDJ100. Means I can use a 2-3" nipple and a 4" canopy and it will be flush to the ceiling. My mounting is on a 35degree ceiling with no attic space above, the 9" roof joists will allow me to 'bury' 75% of the unit between the joists BUT only if I can get the bottom of the DDJ100 flush with the current sheetrock. I will still need to extend a wedge via right-angle brackets on the high side of the ceiling (otherwise exposed section of DDJ100) but by my calculations, that is only about 2" including the brackets :-)
Again, many thanks for posting & motivating me to look into this unit.

I left out that I contacted the manufacturer about whether or not the DDJ100 has to be horizontal or not. Was told yes so my description above is based on the need to have it truly horizontal. The unit will be within the joists for about 11.5" but that leaves a good 1.4" remaining that will have to extend out. Should be worth it :-)

Steve, Well good luck with installing it. My ceiling is horizontal and I have room to stand up inside the roof space with no issues so installing mine was really easy but your situation is a little more tricky. If I were to do a video today I would have included one installing it in the ceiling and a close up of it going up. After 4 yrs we have never had a problem with ours with our cleaning of the chandelier etc.
