    I love comparisons so much more than single testings, appreciate it

    I’ve tried a few brands and so far the replaceable battery Olights are my favorites. Just very well manufactured and durable. They also last forever on junk batteries I have around for remotes, nothing fancy. I carry an i5t everywhere and it helps constantly. I rarely need the high mode but when I have it was more then enough. Keep in mind 300 lumens can blind an attacker in daylight. You need 150 in dead of night dark. So this i5t is good for a few different things.

      Where did you got this from? Did you try it on yourself? 300 in daylight? Never! Maybe if you hold the light direct in front of his eyes.

    The I5r is a substantial improvement over an already awesome light.

    The i3T with a 10440 beats them both, 2.4 volt lithium are like unicorns. . . .Why Olight went this direction is beyond me!. . . .

    • @ailivac
      @ailivac Год назад +1

      The most plausible speculation I've heard is that the light was designed with a boost-only driver, which means when feeding it with more than the LED voltage from a Li-ion cell it can't step down, and will overdrive the LED. (the manual says not to use batteries above 2.5V) So the special battery has an integrated buck converter to reduce the output to a safe 2.4V.

    Are the lens identical on both of these lights? Do they both have the same light pattern? i.e.- does one have a tighter or wider beam spot than the other?

    • @jiujitsu2000
      @jiujitsu2000  2 года назад +2

      The lenses are very similar the light pattern is very similar the I5R much brighter

    So if you use an energizer lithium do you still get th 350 lumens? Or is it still a stepdown on lumens

    • @Gieszkanne

      I dont think so. Voltage is lower.

    Plop a 3.7 volt 14500 lithium-ion cell, instead of the 2.4 volt stock battery, in the i5r, and let 'er rip.... Over 1000 lumens will be had. You lose the low mode with a 3.7 volt cell and the light gets HOT 🔥 very quick, but if you want a pocket rocket to impress your friends, this is IT.

    Realistically these are all the lights most of us need. But being that Olight lights are priced a little high we have (or should) want for their sales to buy. The i5r is $50 CAD....for $25 more the Thrunite TN12 Pro....so much more capable...there's the Lumintop Tool 2.0 AA for I think also $50 CAD...has I think 3 lumens modes L/M/H....useable lumens for "most of us"....e.g. dog walks, trail walks....general in-home use to find things where the ceiling light table lamps can't reach...

    I have a new I5R, but the modified 14500 battery supplied is 1420 mah and 2.4 volts. Standard 3.7 volt li-ion cells will work, but the light only runs on high with that battery. I am unsure if it is any brighter, but pushing to power button to change intensity does not dim or brighten the light. The lumintop tool aa 2.0 uses the 14500 cells, and it is brighter, less expensive, has 4 levels of brightness up to 650 lumens and 127 meters of throw. I own the I5R T as well. To me, the similarly sized lumintop tool 2.0 is the better light in nearly every measurable catagory. Do not get me wrong, nearly every Olight I have is extremely well made and packaged. I have many of these smaller O-light in the I5 and I3 lines due to them being part of bundles in flash sales. In flash sales, these lights can be added to a more expensive light for often less than 10 bucks. That is how I acquired the I5R bundled with a seeker 3 pro, which has several upgrades over the seeker 2 pro including a rotary switch and a proximity sensor.

    • @sarge1231
      @sarge1231 2 года назад +5

      @@Ana-dx7wk Yes I have 6 of them, all with the recharging cases. I have a red, blue, white, red white and blue patriotic, 5th anniversary facebook in military OD green, and the O-fan day silver. They keep coming out with new limited editions, and I am a sucker for the marketing ploy. I also have 5 seeker 2 pro, and now the seeker 3 pro. If Olight was the only brand I bought, it might be a problem, but I have over 250 flashlights that are not Olight. I passed collecting long ago, and became a flashlight hoarder.

      @@z50com If you ar refering to the lumintop GT nano...I have 2 of those. I like the lumintop GT micro with the osram emmitter. It has 809 meters of throw from that little 14500 battery powered beast. I have 2 of those in balck aluminum and copper. I also have 5 of the standard lumintop GT micro. Yes, I have issues with hoarding.
