This is unscripted (like all my videos) so is a little rough. It also just barely scratches the surface of what you can do in Run 8. Let me know in the comments if there's an area you would like me to focus on in a future video. Happy railroading! Bought Run 8 recently. Would have been easier to get started with your video. I think people will appreciate it. The thing I'm struggling with now is to find trains to run that make sense. I don't want to arbitrarily spawn rail cars and deliver them to a nearby industry. I saw you run local trains a few times and that looks all well, but I'm not clear at all on how you chose them, how you found or spawned them, where, etc. A video on finding and selecting realistic 'jobs' would be the one I need :)
Spoiler alert, I have no idea what I'm doing when it comes to real life rail operations. :D I start with a world by someone who does and go from there. I mostly get my info about locals and industries from the excellent resources over on The Depot Server's website www.thedepotserver.com/. For SoCal I started with this world save: www.thedepotserver.com/forums/threads/a-very-populated-socal-v3-download.12064/
this was a really great tutorial some people are terrible at doing them but you were slow and smooth at doing it well done you would need hours to do a full tutorial on this
Playing Railroader and waiting for Derail Valley 99 update to drop. Might just go ahead and pick this up soon and continue my unexpected journey into train games.
Thanks Kerbo! Only recently started with Run 8, so this video is very helpful and I learnt quite a bit. There is such a weight of things to learn and know so hope you can make other videos of the basics sometime. If those empty box cars were taken back to the yard, what happens to them then? If they have an onward destination, do they automatically go to that destination in another train? Or do they just stay in the yard until the player does something like makes another train and takes it to that destination?
Nothing happens to the cars unless a player makes it happen. You can make up a train and send it off or do whatever you want. AI controlled trains will drive forward based on switch alignment and signals and that's it. Everything else is up to the player(s). Thanks for watching!
Very good tutorial, thanks... if someone comes up with sort of jobs to do list with payment or reward when they are completed etc. then that would add to this game immensely, even if it was a separate program... and a program that does not have to be online to use it (like so many games these days) would be nice as well.

Every time I watch one of your Run8 videos I get the urge to go buy it…how much longer can I resist temptation 😅
why resist?
@ if I could pay with PayPal I’d have caved already 😄
I probably won't ever play run 8 but I enjoy the video. I think understanding how and why you do each step makes watching more complete. Thanks!
Thanks for watching!
But Kerbo, you never blow out the brakes, tripping the emergency.......oh wait.... 😀 Thanks for the video, looking forward to the next one.
Who me? Never
Bob looks like he is VERY excited to be at work today.
Bob just LOVES being my conductor. ;)
@@KerboOnYT Gotta love it! Do you get paid when cars get processed, or is it just basic processing?
@@billyrueckert5113 There is no economy in Run 8 so no money, XP, levels, etc.
Howdy Kerbo. A crash course? You referring to my train handling skills?😂
It was nearly a crash course as I headed down that grade to the industry. Thanks for watching!

@@KerboOnYT Thanks for the info. So the player would make up a train and then either drive it or somehow set up AI to drive it. Thanks again.
