It's funny to me, it seems when people talk about the "great" Australian side of the 90's and 00's they talk about McGrath, Warne, Waugh's, Slaters, Ponting, Gilchrist etc. People forget how many games Bevan got Austraila out of jail. Even with these great players Australia would have a far, far worse record if not for Bevan. He saved the team so many times from impossible positions, including in world cups. And yet we hardly remember him now and give the others the credit. He's like a silent letter in a word.
He was excellent at one specific part of the game - keeping the scoreboard ticking in the middle overs of an ODI and often being not out. Not sure if that enough to make you a great of the game like those other names you mention, especially as this style of play has kind of gone out of the game.
Those were the awesome days when we get to see players like Bevan finishing match single handedly. Averaging 57 whole career is beyond imagination, but Bevan was able to do that always. Australia was fortunate to have such a brilliant player in their midst and I was fortunate to have witnessed such a genius when I was in my teens. Unfortunately for Aussies, they cannot produce another Bevan even though they continue to produce brilliant players over and time again. Best wishes from a land where cricket is a religion INDIA. Thank you Michael Bevan.

I disagree with the World Cup Final and the win at Adelaide. The Adelaide game was in India's firm grip with a RR of 6 and Dhoni overcomplicated it and made it into 13 off the last over. He pulled it off that time but massively failed in the same tournament v Sri Lanka where he literally threw the game away(including 2 horrible run outs of Gautam Gambhir who was on 91 and Irfan Pathan who was on fire that day with the bat) resulting in a tie which made India to lose their place in the Final. Rest of the games, spot on.

With just two or three fours in his big scores, rarely a six, his strike rate astonishingly remained around run a ball, most of the time, thanks to the heaps of singles and twos.
