@Andrey A. An Astigmatism makes light bend before it reaches your retina. This makes light spots have streaks come off them. Its largely unnoticeable, unless you expect the light to be sharp. Like if you were using an OLED display with a black and white background. Its impossible to tell if the halo around the white light is from the Astigmatism or the display. You just have to accept that your eyes won't let you see sharp light.
@@Velexarian when it's near the end and has the long skinny rectangle, on an OLED for me it has a halo effect, high brightness HDR (Samsung S9). When I move my thumbs on either end so my eyes only see a little of the middle, the viewed brightness goes down and so does the halo effect. Screen backlight stays the same. I do have myopia (blurred long distance viewing).
Just got a 65' lg cx and I've noticed a white Idk what the technical term is bloom, glow, hue around an object person with black background and I also have a astigmatism in one eye. So I don't know either if it's me or the panel.
Pulled out my phone camera while testing this on my qn900a and realized half the videos on RUclips make it look a million times worse thru a camera vs in reality I was impressed by how well the tv handled with local dimming
That's why it's so hard to show examples of a panel working correctly in static images or video. You're never getting an accurate representation of what it looks like in real life. You're only seeing what the camera sees. This is why calibration is key.
my Sony completely ignores the little square - but reacts to the white line - consider making a new test where you have the line scan horizontally then vertically - that would help count the zones
This is a good one because most people dont think about the little boxes it's good to see how aggresive the local dimming is also most glad systems would completely crush that little square at least dim it down alot very hard for a fald TV to do that correctly great one man cool test
@@lingviston it usually just means the tv is dimming a bit of that box which most fald tvs do no matter what it won't always be super bright because it has to keep the blacks black with as little light bleed as possible so sometimes on boxes like this they will be dim it just means it's dimming some of the highlights only in dark scenes though its kind of like choose blooming with a bit brighter highlights or choose aggressive local dimming which helps keep the blacks sony retains the brightness usually while it can bloom sometimes but this yesr there algorithm is great the 60 zones don't tell you the full story but samsung likes crushing and it will dim some highlights in dark scenes to limit blooming

I cannot buy oled tv because i am afraid of sunburn the screen (TV is in living room where some hours a day the sun shines thru the window on the TV). I thought my dell precision 5560 has OLED screen but after this test and comparing this test with iphone13 OLED screen, found out my laptop is not OLED. After searching the model, found out it is WVA panel. Thanks a lot for making this video
I got the Q90R, its funny when I put it in dynamic and standard Picture modes,which is the brightest modes. Theres very minimal blooming,which is suprizing? But movie mode and natural, blooming pops up. Not drasticly. But i see it more. Should I put local dimming to low,standard or high? I saw in another video someone say. It gives deeper blacks? And contrast Enhancer I should keep off? I did have to adjust my motion a little to fix the diagonal motion. OLED no doubt to slove blooming. But burn-in out ways the positives. For me anyway.

Well! My brand new iPhone 12 failed miserably in this test! Stupid flickering, gray backlight and OLED would just not turn off in blacks. Hope to see 14.5 fixes it.
Turn this video on and cover the square with your hand. You’ll see that the “blooming”/haloing is caused by your eyes. Bright objects glow to the human eye no matter what.
No issues with mini LED on the newer M2 max MacBook Pro , if u are very close to the screen , you can notice the local dimming zone , but at a normal distance with full brightness ( 1600 nits ) you do not notice it at all . so far so good, excellent display .

I'm still rocking my final generation 60" Samsung 3D Plasma ran this test for shits & giggles... near perfect blacks and no blooming at all hehe! I have saved this link to use as a test when I eventually get a 4K tv. I'm really leaning towards the Hisense Q9G here in Canada.
I made this test with TCL 55EP660. As the small white square start moving, the display brightness fall down... same problem of yesterday with some space scenes of 2001 A space odissey by Stanley Kubrick. Do you think it is possible to disable this auto-dimming? I am so disappointed
On Q80T the white scare has some very soft grey around, I was thinking that this TV would really turn off the LEDs by making it was blacks and living only the ones with full white. Or is it somehow a way to fix it?
Watching this on my OnePlus 8 pro and at High brightness i can inconsistent greys in the black portion and when i turn it down to 50 percent brightness its black...is there any issue with the screen
My iPhone 12 pro max does some weird stuff with the black areas at low screen brightness settings while the RUclips interface is open and for a second after it closes but then the blacks turn black as they’re supposed to
I definitely notice the local dimming zones on the 2021 MacBook Pro. But the whole video didn't look completely black to me while the black borders in fullscreen where true black.

Villa, the test is perfect but please make an sdr version of this. My whole display lights up even though I have FALD. All the blacks are grey. My tv doesn’t have hdr but it does have local dimming.

Hey! This isn’t a branding test, it was designed for TVs with a backlight. The C9 doesn’t have a backlight, so all it’ll be testing is the motion on your TV. So you may see some judder depending on your settings

I got 2 TVs my LG B9 OLED which it don't have full array and its great but my Vizio P-Series quantum does and I think it's one of the Best every it has 240 local Dimming zones. But I'm waiting to see the new TCL 6 series or 8 series quantum
Lol what are you smoking dude. B9 is an OLED it's self emissive, it doesn't have any backlight because every pixel emits it's own light. FALD is the hacky alternative to self emissive displays like OLED. OLED is the peak right now.

I just bought Q9FN recently and I tested it with many videos.I have a question and I really hope that you answer me: I played your video with the internal RUclips app and I have noticed something. When I am on standard mode the white square is disappearing for a second in the bottom left. But when I change the mode to movie or something else the squire did not hide. HDR is on I am sure about that from icon in Tizen home menu. I tested th TV with many other local dimming videos and no problem. Only on HDR Standerd picture mode for you. For picture settings I can share it if you want. Thanks already for helping.

I have a C1 and it's doing the same thing, i watched this same video on my Galaxy s21 ultra and it's showing correctly as pure black. I think the issue could be with the way the LG Oled are decoding the HDR
On my Q90T the square is not 100% white. It's somewhat grey/dimmed. I noticed this issue with all small white images on the black background. Is it normal? When white is dominating the screen it looks super bright though.
Yes for full array dimming TVs it will show the least amount of extra backlight along with white color but with local dimming your whole screen with shine white

am'oled' is oled. This is for testing miniled panels.
OLED's/AMOLED don't have any dimming zones, these tests are not meant for that display.
Watching this on an OLED really messes with you of you have an astigmatism.

Yep. I recently picked up an LG CX 48 OLED. Can confirm the bloom effect comes from my eyes lol.
There's also an effect called veiling glare, which causes a similar effect in normal people.

QE95A has insane local dimming. I can now confirm it. Used an FN9 qled before and theres a great difference.

I’m testing the Sony 27’’ InZone M9 4K with 96 zones and my TCL with the same amount of zones look almost twice as better with less blooming.

Not on my computer or Vizio, or Tivo Bolt.
It's uses HLG (hybrid log-gamma) so your display must support it .

iphones don’t have mini-led. they have OLED. mini led with local dimming is a different technology entirely.
You might be pwm sensitive anyways this video was to test something else on a different display technology

I can see the FALD working but the rest of the screen is grey. The upload isn’t true black if it were an sdr tv would detect it.

@@PhantomRavn I managed to sort it out. I had Filmmaker mode profile active. For some reason, it raises the black. 🤷 Cinema (Home) works way better.

Yup. Blooming will be much more apparent in the dark

На айфон 12 экран еле заметно мерцает на полях, если растянуть до полного экрана, то не видно мерцания
Только купил 12про и тоже еле заметно мерцает. У тебя с экраном все также сейчас, без изменений , спустя 2 месяца ?Не стал сдавать его обратно в магазин ?
@@andreysuh3845 нет, пользуюсь пока, это скорее всего баг прошивки, если что то выяснится по этим мерцаниям, то гарантия 2 года, думаю успеется..
