    Watching this on an OLED really messes with you of you have an astigmatism.

    • @Velexarian
      @Velexarian 4 года назад +28

      @Andrey A. An Astigmatism makes light bend before it reaches your retina. This makes light spots have streaks come off them. Its largely unnoticeable, unless you expect the light to be sharp. Like if you were using an OLED display with a black and white background. Its impossible to tell if the halo around the white light is from the Astigmatism or the display. You just have to accept that your eyes won't let you see sharp light.

    • @maxwellkeeling3781
      @maxwellkeeling3781 4 года назад +5

      @@Velexarian when it's near the end and has the long skinny rectangle, on an OLED for me it has a halo effect, high brightness HDR (Samsung S9). When I move my thumbs on either end so my eyes only see a little of the middle, the viewed brightness goes down and so does the halo effect. Screen backlight stays the same. I do have myopia (blurred long distance viewing).

      Just got a 65' lg cx and I've noticed a white Idk what the technical term is bloom, glow, hue around an object person with black background and I also have a astigmatism in one eye. So I don't know either if it's me or the panel.

    Pulled out my phone camera while testing this on my qn900a and realized half the videos on RUclips make it look a million times worse thru a camera vs in reality I was impressed by how well the tv handled with local dimming

    • @ViciousTuna2012
      @ViciousTuna2012 2 года назад +1

      That's why it's so hard to show examples of a panel working correctly in static images or video. You're never getting an accurate representation of what it looks like in real life. You're only seeing what the camera sees. This is why calibration is key.

  • @g1981c

  • @reviewforthetube6485
    @reviewforthetube6485 5 лет назад +29

    This is a good one because most people dont think about the little boxes it's good to see how aggresive the local dimming is also most glad systems would completely crush that little square at least dim it down alot very hard for a fald TV to do that correctly great one man cool test

    • @lingviston
      @lingviston 3 года назад

      So, if white square is dimmed (not 100% white) is it a good sign or not?

    • @reviewforthetube6485
      @reviewforthetube6485 3 года назад +5

      @@lingviston it usually just means the tv is dimming a bit of that box which most fald tvs do no matter what it won't always be super bright because it has to keep the blacks black with as little light bleed as possible so sometimes on boxes like this they will be dim it just means it's dimming some of the highlights only in dark scenes though its kind of like choose blooming with a bit brighter highlights or choose aggressive local dimming which helps keep the blacks sony retains the brightness usually while it can bloom sometimes but this yesr there algorithm is great the 60 zones don't tell you the full story but samsung likes crushing and it will dim some highlights in dark scenes to limit blooming

    I got the Q90R, its funny when I put it in dynamic and standard Picture modes,which is the brightest modes. Theres very minimal blooming,which is suprizing? But movie mode and natural, blooming pops up. Not drasticly. But i see it more.
    Should I put local dimming to low,standard or high? I saw in another video someone say. It gives deeper blacks?
    And contrast Enhancer I should keep off?
    I did have to adjust my motion a little to fix the diagonal motion.
    OLED no doubt to slove blooming. But burn-in out ways the positives. For me anyway.

    • @ThaVillaMan

    Hello,
    I am a new subscriber and I realy enjoy your content. I just bought Q9FN recently and I tested it with many videos.I have a question and I really hope that you answer me: I played your video with the internal RUclips app and I have noticed something. When I am on standard mode the white square is disappearing for a second in the bottom left. But when I change the mode to movie or something else the squire did not hide. HDR is on I am sure about that from icon in Tizen home menu. I tested th TV with many other local dimming videos and no problem. Only on HDR Standerd picture mode for you.
    For picture settings I can share it if you want. Thanks already for helping.

    I tried this with my LG CX OLED and the black comes out all splotchy and grey-black, almost like a LCD would. Is the black background encoded in a certain way that my TV can't handle? Is it the HLG, possibly?

      I have a C1 and it's doing the same thing, i watched this same video on my Galaxy s21 ultra and it's showing correctly as pure black. I think the issue could be with the way the LG Oled are decoding the HDR

    On my Q90T the square is not 100% white. It's somewhat grey/dimmed. I noticed this issue with all small white images on the black background. Is it normal? When white is dominating the screen it looks super bright though.
