For anyone having issues with the "object is not a shell error", try deleting and redoing the create mesh and the try a higher number like 0.05, then create the solid again. Fixed my issue.

Thank you for a solution that i was struggling with.
There are many other vids on RUclips showing how to convert Stl files, but yours gave the solution on the problem of no file to select in the Path part.

Thanks mate. By the way folks, STEP import seems to produce a solid naturally in FreeCAD, skipping the messy mesh portion. So if you have the option to use STEP instead of STL you're probably gonna have a better time!

My FreeCAD 0.19 only allows tolerance of 1, can't use 0.01. How come? Please help and thank you.

"Refine Shape" does not appear in the Part dropdown in the 0.20.2 version. Anyone know where it went?
UPDATE: It's under the "Create a copy" dropdown within Part.

when i click create shape from mesh it just keeps buffering and says the program wont respond im using v0.19
