Thanks for the video! I have a battery enclosure STL that I need to resize without skewing or changing the size or placement of holes and bevels. In Illustrator, with 2d shapes I would select all edge points and move them out to change dimensions. Whats the best way of doing this with STLs (after converting to editable mesh)? What program is best for this type of editing and customizing of STLs?
I'm looking for the same answer. Any luck finding the information? I think I am looking for the same information, let me know if I am or not but here is what I'm trying to do with my model(s): I have a model that is split up into different parts that fit together to make an articulated action figure. All these parts are STL files. Since action figures and/or things you make that fit together and move, there needs to be what is called "tolerances" which is basically a tiny gap between moving parts so they can move back and forth, ect. For example, let's say I have a peg and a hole for that peg, I wanna be able to select the inner surface of that hole and extrude it out slightly to make a tolerance for the peg to fit into it.
I can do everything this video shows expect converting it to a solid, It says "Cannot convert Cerniera002 because Shape is not a shell." And I can't edit anything on the others, any help? I've tried this with a few different files, on Version .18
All over you tube couldn't t find one tutorial showing how import STL and then make the model double the size...or reduce the size of a certain part...everyone is only adding holes...is it that freecad does not have that feature and you guys are avoiding it ?
Very nice! I wish Freecad would outsource its heavy lifting to the gpu, its very slow as of today still... :(
Thanks! great video. Direct to the point. If I may: I find that background music is not a good idea for tutorial videos.
I agree! It’s annoying or at least too loud.

@@KirklandShunk You can try Blender, it works better with heavy mesh and you should be able to seclect and extrude the surface
Great tutorial. My import scrolls upwards on selection. Do you know why??
Great video series. Good pace.
instablaster...

that's a common problem, and v 0.19 and 0.20 are even fussier.
What if its’s not a solid because mine is a phone case.
Thanks, helpful.
