    One big improvement: the new remote takes cheap AA batteries instead of expensive C2032 watch batteries.

    • @frowlinian8175
      @frowlinian8175 5 лет назад

      Idk why they still use AA instead of a rechargeable battery pack or an integrated lithium ion...

    • @ducbenho
      @ducbenho 5 лет назад

      Just like a clock or a watch, a remote generally consumes very little power so using AA batteries which have a slow discharging rate is more suitable.

    • @NamelessPassenger
      @NamelessPassenger 5 лет назад +1

      Brennan X Bones nope you are wrong... your android phone have to running Custom OS under your interface and it is really heavy. That is why most of custom android offer such a high amount of ram. Just look at sony pixel nokia. They don’t need a lot of ram to run smoothly...because they don’t run anything on the background. And on sony xperia 1 you can ran 2 software without any notification of lagging. Ram do not say anything specificially. They are just trying to scam someone who is easily to fool by those ram. Let me tell ya this. Despite my xperia 1 only have 6GB but they can ran 12 apps at the background when my rog2 tencent ver can only ran 8 apps with their 8GB. And oneplus with 8gb of ram slightly ahead with 13 apps. But for a system like nvidia shield, i wonder myself...they offer kinda less for the price they asked for. X1+ isn’t stronger than 855 and you can find realme x2 have 855+ for the same price...either way, only iOS are kinda different, they optimise your apps so that that apps won’t run at the background. More like sleeping until you reopened it. So even 4gb and 3gb didn’t give you any advantage ... except PadOS. Since padOS offer to run duo apps as sametime, 4gb vs 6gb are slightly different to each other specially for content creation. And last, don’t expect good value without competitive between brands. I love sony vs apple so i suggest my family using samsung pixel and oneplus. I love intel so when i build pc for my friends i always offer amd first. And last amd may enter this competition because they shake hands with samsung to create powerful processors

Sure you can tether an external hard drive, but what was the purpose of shrinking it then if you have to add more hardware?!?!?

    Did you factory reset your 2017 before you ran the test?

    I have a friend who has the 2017 model and he said he would not upgrade but I'm going to tell him about the AI Up scaling. He has a low cost 4K TV that I know he isn't too happy with the picture quality. I have a Samsung Q90r TV with AI Up scaling and the picture is amazing so I think getting the up scaling would give him a much better picture.

    I'm sure some people either can't do it or are too impatient to do it, but I would just get the pro. The features (some are almost a necessity) are worth that extra 50.

    11:24 for gaming purposes probably not worth it. But it can handle dolby atmos now. Previous versions were limited to 7.1 . Plus this has more hdr support.

    YEA BOI!!! Really can't wait to see emulation! I Need to step up from the RPI 3B+, so I'm waiting for black Friday or Cyber Monday to finally grab a one (2017 or 2019?)

      @Stinz Maynard LoL, I'm still interested to see if the 19 will do any better, and I will be running other apps too, but it really comes down to what deal I can find.

    Can you run plex media server on the non pro version? Their website seems to indicate that this is only available for the pro...

    They should add an option like hold down power on shield to search for the lost remote. You're SOL if you lose remote and have no other way to click remote search.

    @EtaPrime how is it on an 4k display? Are you having the same DPI TEXT Issues as the regular 2017 model?

      @Brebgon They know that most people want to do more than streaming with that device.

    So basically the new shield tv is an overclocked 2017 shield with an awesome remote and good upscaling

    I have a 2017 model.
    I am 50/50 on this.
    Part of me hopes the gamecube performance is the same, part of me hopes it is better... but honestly I think the emulator improvements have made the biggest difference on this SoC.

      I can't see them being more than 10% faster due to the same design. It's like graphics cards you can over clock them by 20-30% but only get 5-10% gains.

    Thanks for the review, nice comparison, Nvidia really let us down on this one, 2019, 2 gig ram no usb, 32 bit operating system and 8 gig of storage which isn't a full 8 gig, as they take up alot of it with all of their stuff, 4k stick is cheaper , way cheaper
