I'll be enjoying PLEX's newest UI improvements and features and you'll be side-loading betas, I'll be screen sharing from my phone and laptop with one tap and you'll be searching for the best android lag fest to make miracast work. please. stay in reality.

If Nvidia is better than the ATV 4K, how come it doesn't stream the Spectrum TV app correctly? It has to be side loaded and streams in portrait mode, not full screen. I might've given it a try if it could. Probably part of it is the exclusive deal Spectrum has with Apple and Roku. You'd think such a powerful device like the Nvidia Shield would add the app on the play store and make it work.

I never use ANY built in smart operating systems on TVs these days- aside from built in Fire TVs. The only thing I think they missed out on here was an even smaller form factor with lower specs to entice those who normally buy fire sticks. One other point- The shield allows volume control of bluetooth devices. This is huge- no firetv new or old has this capability. Apple TV has this ability too as well as other android boxes, but not the firetv. It is android based so I wonder why Amazon has not included this yet.

The Nvidia Shield cannot stream the Spectrum TV app correctly and that's a problem for thousands of Spectrum subscribers. It's not on the Google Playstore and has to be sideloaded too. When it is side- loaded, it streams in portrait mode. No, I'll stick with the Apple TV 4K and when the new ATV 6th generation rolls out with it's upgraded chip, it'll blow away the competition.

The choice of device always depends not only on the quality of the device, but the ecosystem you're wanting to invest and live in. Amazon Fire Stick, Apple TV, and Android TV all have their own advantages. Performance will not be enough to make a final decision when you end up sinking money in apps, movies, and other accessories.

    • @davidtroutman9906

Smart TV apps rarely get (security) updates, and support for them from the app developers drops off quickly. Dev support for set top boxes is more frequent and lasts longer.

  • @kenyattaclay7666

First off, can we please stop this nonsense about something being the (insert product here) killer. Competition is ALWAYS a good thing because it makes the products we buy better. Second, you already have a bias against Apple and I've seen some of your segments complaining about some of the dumbest things. Third, while theoretically they would be in competition because they are both streaming boxes they are not really in competition with each other. The typical person that is going to buy an Apple TV and the typical person that is going to by a Shield are generally NOT the same person. The person who is gong to look at the shield is generally going to cross shop with the new Roku box (not the stick) that just came out. The person who is going to buy the Apple TV is someone who is already heavy into the Apple ecosystem because if you already have an iPad, iPhone and a Mac the products already work with each other. While the Shield is a Google streaming box, it's not a Google product.

Although the New Nvidia Shield Pro is Really Nice, My old Shield would link to Google Home and accept commands Like "Open Live Channels" The New Shield only takes those commands from the Remote, The google Home just thinks its a Dumb ChromeCast device. So losing that Ability to say "Hey google pause my video" to now I have to grab the remote with my dirty hands to pause is quite the fall back. IF any one has been able to get their new shield to work with Google Home please send me a reply and tell me what you had to do to get it to work. I have a ticket open with Google Hub peeps and also Nvidia hoping someone will shed light on this issue. Other than all that, the new Shield is Great Device wish the remote was more Flat.
