Thank you. It's a great tutorial but too much talking for my opinion.
Thanks a lot! 😊
Good job it was kind of revision
God bless you my man
Funny fact: every word that comes from Latin, which you Engliah native speakers consider to be hard or advanced is usually a pretty common word in Romance languages. So, it is quite amusing for any Latin Based language speaker to hear that collaborate is a difficult word.
i’m confused- these are rare and formal words that non-native speakers wouldn’t hear often. this video was made for english learners. theyre not hard to english speakers.
No, not difficult for a literate native English speaker. And this video (and her others) is for non-native speakers learning English.
The video clearly states that these words are an "advanced test". So they must be hard to some degree. All I`m saying is these words are not hard at all for English learners who already speak any Romance language.
@@ixchelssong yep, literate native English speakers are familiar with them. As any idiot or iliterate Romance native speaker, that`s all I`m saying
Exactly. The thing is, all these languages share common words and expression but they are not always used in the same way or frequency. Take the word "to live". In portuguese and spanish you would likely hear/read "viver" or maybe "morar", whereas in French they would likely say 'habite". There is a word "habitar" in both Spanish and Portuguese but are not used as frequently or in the same way. Another example is "amusant" which exists in both french and english and have similar meanings but are used differently.
Collaborate: work together
Optimum: best
Resilient: easily recover from difficult situations
Scoffed: to make fun of
Retrospect: looking back with wisdom
Ambiguous: unclear
Hinders: stops, prevents
Assimilate: become similar
Nonchalant: not caring, cool
Rejuvenated: alive again
Oblivious: didn't realize
Ostracize: push away
Spur: spontaneous
Slouch: not sitting straight
Plausible: possible but not likely
Collaborate- work together
Optimum- best
Resilient -easily recover from difficult situations
Scoffed-to make fun of
Retrospect- looking back with wisdom
Ambiguous- not clear
Hinders- stops prevents
Assimilate- to become similar
Nonchalant- not caring, cool
Rejuvenated- alive again
Oblivious- didn't realize
ostracize- push away
Spur- spontaneous
Slouch- not sitting properly
Plausible- possible but not likely
Thanks 😁😁

thanks buddy
Good discover
When my niece was young, she knew the difference between “collaborate” and “coordinate” and once corrected her mother with that knowledge.
When doing a task, it's better to collaborate with someone to achieve optimum results.
It pays to be resilient when being ostracized by someone who is oblivious to your hurt feelings. In retrospect, it's better to be nonchalant when people scoff at us. Rather than slouch in your couch, it's actually rejuvenating to go for spur of the moment trips to the beach. Remember, being unique means we don't have to assimilate the traits and lifestyle of other people. It's not plausible to be clones of other people. Sometimes, people send ambiguous signals as to what they really want. But that should not hinder us from understanding them.
Great sentences.
Wow this is the best one I’ve seen. Nearly completely correct and actually makes sense as a paragraph!
One point: it is ostracised instead of ostracise. You ostracise someone, but you are ostracised by someone else.
But are you learning English or a learner? Seems like you are native speaker.
Woww.. it's amazing. I would love to be able to write like you.

hi I don't even know how many times I've watched this video, I've lost count of it , you're full of energy and enthusiasm and I love that, please make more videos like this about advanced words that are commonly used.
But remember: the more advanced word is for an english native, the easier is for a spanish, italian, french, portuguese ....one.
That's so true ahah

Btw, you were supposed to use the word "wonder". Because "wander" means walking around aimlessly. But if you had used "wonder", that would have made sense because it means wanting to know something. :)
Many people may be aware of these words, but she does a great job of explaining how they are used. Well done!

** all of these new words ** (these) not this
I came here to write exact same sentence but you already did it 😅
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Not likely🤣
I should see it in like 20 sentences before to sink it deeper in my brain
As a young man with a resilent body, my fitness was at its most optimum level. My football coach introduced a team building activity that supposedly could improve the collaboration between players and rejuvenate the team spirit. I was filled with ambiguity and scoffed at the idea. The idea sounded plausible but i wasn't going to let it hinder my standing as a cool, aloof and nonchalant player. At the spur of the moment, I even pushed my coach away and ostracized the rest of the players by sequestering myself in the club house as they proceeded to do their outdoor activity. I was totally oblivious of the consequences of my action. As it turned out, I was not selected to play in the finals. In retrospect, as I slouched in the armchair at Starbucks, I realised that I should have learnt to assimilate into the team better. It was all too late by now
👏
Awesome composition , just a couple of improvements for very advanced English . There is no need to say “most optimum” optimum means at the pinnacle so it’s a given and adding an emphatic adverb sounds foreign to English ears. Also “in the spur of the moment “ not “at”. Other than that a really polished, native sounding composition.
@@claudward6529 Thanks for the tips!
@@claudward6529 For Spur of the Moment, can I use On the spur of the moment too? In Vanessa's example, she didn't use any preposition. Is it correct?
Sean yeah for sure, either “ on the spur of the moment “ or “ in the spur of the moment “ , they both sound natural . You could also say something was “ a spur of the moment decision” you can always substitute “spur of the moment “ for “spontaneous “ or “ impromptu” or in some situations “ a last minute decision” . All mean basically the same thing
I am old, but so glad I took a year of Latin in school. The roots of so many words are from Latin, especially I. Healthcare. I hope many school age kids will listen to your video. A weak vocabulary is so telling.
This video is very informative. I am unfamiliar with words she tackled but when she discussed them I realized that I can really use them in constructing sentences. I also like her smile, she is full of energy and grace in discussing. Thank you speaker!
I love this kind of test. It makes me realize how vocabulary has more to go.
Reading frequently is an excellent way to improve your vocabulary.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your fun lessons online.
10.54.What i feel rejuvenated is when my english vocabulary have added easily and quickly than before. Thanks so much. really appreciated it.
I’m gonna describe all the words at optimum degree. In retrospect, I realised to be resilient no matter how intense the situation is. While working with my senior, he scoffed at my working style and hindered me to work while collaborating with him. Still I tried to assimilate with my organisation culture and become nonchalant about small things. Due to oblivious nature situations become ambiguous and he started ostracising me while working in team. Later on I realised that happened spur of the moment which is plausible. And looking back on to this I am slouching on the bed and not thinking much.
This is my first video where I started working on it on vocab.
Please like if I have attempted well and comment for correction. Thanks 🙏🏻
Liked for ur effort
The second "I" should be "I'm" and "become" to "became". Regardless, great effort! (I'm a native British speaker)
*scoffed at
"Retrospect" is not usually used as a verb. You will usually say "in retrospect, I xxx." Otherwise this is a very good effort and using words like "gonna" will make you sound like a native speaker!
I’ve rewritten your paragraph just so it reads slightly better but it’s a really good effort! I hope this helps and good luck with learning English!
I’m gonna describe all the words to an optimum degree. In retrospect, I realise I should be resilient no matter how hard the situation is. When working with my senior, he scoffed at my working style and hindered my work (you don’t really say “hindered me to”) whilst I collaborated with him. Still, I tried to assimilate into (you assimilate into, rather than with) my organisation’s culture and become nonchalant about small things (‘become’ works, if you are trying to say ‘I tried to become nonchalant about small things’. Use ‘became’ if you have already become nonchalant). - This next sentence I am not really sure what you meant. So I’ve had a go - Due to the ambiguous nature of the situation (you only use oblivious when talking about a person), I was oblivious when he started ostracising me while we were working in the team. Later on I realised that it‘s plausible that it happened in the spur of the moment. Looking back at this, I am slouching on the bed and not thinking about much.
A very good effort though!! And really complex sentences in there! Keep it up!
Why am I here, you ask, if my native language is english?

I’m italian but I understand lots of these words, probably because they come from latin
Hai fatto un errore.
Tu hai detto, "I'm Italian but I understand lots of this words."
La grammatica corretta sarebbe, "I'm Italian but I understand lots of these words."
Fondamentalmente, hai detto "questo" invece di "questi" ma "questo" non è corretto perché ciò che stavi descrivendo è plurale, e "questo" è usato per le cose singolari.

How come did I find your channel so late???? A lot of effort in your videos and farrrr more of devotion. You have made optimum vids. Thank you ❤️
For a Spanish speaker is easier to know the correct word because are similar and have their roots on old Latin language.
I completely agree with you. Modern English has a lot of words that came from Latin. And French.
For Italians too...
It's easy to recognize the Latin roots for example in the word retrospect.
So does portuguese. Some english words are very similar to portuguese words and have almost the same meaning.
That's right. I'm a portuguese speaker and many of these words exist in my language.
My langua materna is Español but I was schooled and raised and still live in the UK. Beware false cognates in Spanish /English . Many Latin root words have very different English meaning . Embarrassed means dar verguenza, not pregnant, delight means pleasurable or lovely ( hermososo, linda, bellisimo etc) not the same as Spanish delito etc. There are many many more, beware literal Latin translation!!!

@@mansisrivastava0001 brilliant
Things can’t be resilient. That’s for people, because it takes inner force (the kind that comes from spirit or soul)
@Laura Sánchez why not? In IT e.g. "Building applications resilient to infrastructure failure is essential for systems that run in a distributed environment, such as NoSQL databases." or e.g. "Sustaining development gains also requires resilient institutions and consistent policies."
TheDelwish as I can see that, is an antropomorphism, like “smart phones”. Things (even technology) can’t be smart, but we give them that description because it matches with a human characteristic, in what we considerate as smart.
For definition, resilience is the human capacity of over coming from tough circumstances.
On the other hand, institutions (as a group of persons with a common goal) can be resilient.
I was nonchalant when I started watching the video but,in course of time I realized how resilient the video is!🤓
