My grandpa had one of these in his garage for probably 40 years; when he died, we had to clean the place out, and I plugged it in and turned it on...it actually worked for about a minute and then smoke started pouring out of it and it went out. Wish I'da convinced my parents to keep it anyways, could have been fixable. Anyways, nice piece of history here, thanks for sharing!!
I love how you say, sorry if I'm boring you. Your videos are never boring & hearing your voice makes me forget about all the negativity in my life & help me stay positive. Keep making great videos, Shango066 😀
I much prefer these old tv's to the new ones of today. These were built well and they were very dependable. Not like the trash they have today. And I love the styling! Roundies rule!!
@6:44 INCOMING!.... NICE set! CRT may be a little weak, but it's also pretty bright out there. Another one that's not been recapped! It'll never be 100% with all those old caps in there, IMO.
Need to give that crt a shot...the emmision is very low, put the restorer on it...those older tube would rejuvenate well becuz the gun/cathodes had a lot of boron on them so they would take multiple cleanings without killing the guns.
The flyback is your horizontal output transformer it does a 4 things in that TV the first is It drives your Horizontal Deflection coil the Second is it max the high voltage to light the screen of the CRT 3rd is it delivers the boost voltage for your vertical circuit and 4th it delivers boost voltage to your automatic gain control circuit and thats the better version of the hayzeline chassis that had less chances of bad caps that cause your flyback to burn up.
In terms of functioning, this one is in much better shape than mine. I haven't touched it much but there seems to be an issue with the color. Color bars show up all one color
I. Loved that older color tv. That I. Am. Trying to find that model. That I. Could buy. From. You can you still sell. To. Markwhite I. Am a. Hobbyists I. Did collecting those old. Tubes electronic equipment in. My whole lifetime that is my. Favorite hobbyists work stuff
Why did you do this video outside? i used to bring a tv out to the satellite dish to adjust and tune up the dish and i found it was best to try that at night or just before dark because in the daytime you can barely see the screen because of the outside daylights,
If you don't have a Birddog meter that's the way to go. I used to install Direct TV. I hated it, I felt as a technician I was eather being screwed over by the customer or I was crewing the customer over. But I kept my meter as I love doing (legal) free to air channels. Its much more fun to pick up and see all the weird stuff.
Yep as you can see at 16:03 its off horizontal linearity and vertical linearity but horizontally its not that bad where as the hayzeline chassis that used the 6JE6 Horizontal output tube used to have a lot of problems after the first 5 years of owning the set.
why? there is full vertical and horizontal deflection, linearity seems reasonably fine i dont seem a problem apart from poor brightness wich may or may not be a capacitor or a resistor
the video with all the difficult roofing maneuvers out in the desert. there's an actual MIRROR that is on the other end of the inside of the downstairs. with this here video, and the one where you cross the MIRROR, you're less than mysterious, shango dude. ..why all the mystery?
Beautifully laid out set. They used to make things like that right here in the USA.

I started laughing when I heard the ice cream truck music. LOL

Your the best shang!
Very Nice Tv. Although the Tripod on the camera is very noisy, Nice TV.
This one looks very clean inside, I left you a question one one of your other RCA videos,

My parents had a similar one 1964 threw 1984 was still working when they gave it to goodwill
Still impressive for 54 years old.

the chasis of the TV set is realy clean, did you clean it out before taking out the chasis??

I find it interesting that it's an RCA with a Zenith picture tube in it.
When you put a Zenith CRT in an RCA set the RCA set will look a bit like a Zenith.
The CRT in a TV is like the speaker in a stereo.
From 6:34 to 7:05 holy moly turn the volume up!
I use the pause mode when adjusting 📷 camera
Nice old tv, what dyes the Fly Back do?
it creates high voltage in the tube so the electrons get attracted to the front of the screen
UHF was optional up to 1964.
Octal base 8 number system!

The infamous finger hair test along the crt to determine HV at 14:00
I'm in the process of fixing my 2002 Panasonic tv case since the guy i rescued it from had it in the back of his van for like 4years or more
Does anyone know where to purchase these old working sets. Thanks
An RCA with a Zenith picture tube? Is that the original?
i want to play atari on that tv !
it's just cheaper to get UHF Optional at this time :) QC

Блин, не верится, собрано на печатных платах! Америка!
Damn, can not believe assembled on printed circuit boards! America!
It's on the junker one you got that was in bad shape
why dont you rejuvenate tired crts
man this tv set needs a full upgrade in capacitors and resistors
why? there is full vertical and horizontal deflection, linearity seems reasonably fine i dont seem a problem apart from poor brightness wich may or may not be a capacitor or a resistor
I'm curious why this RCA TV has a Zenith CRT
pdog Akron replacement
Wow you aged alot in 8 years, where did the hair go??
Check your video of the 1958 RCA I left the question there in thd comments
Hello world !

the video with all the difficult roofing maneuvers out in the desert. there's an actual MIRROR that is on the other end of the inside of the downstairs. with this here video, and the one where you cross the MIRROR, you're less than mysterious, shango dude. ..why all the mystery?
the 7th fetzer valve seems sticky....Line from the movie "Fletch" with Chevy Chase
I Wish you could made a video, my grandpa died long time ago and i have 2 TV's(old ones) and 1 record player from him :(
Definitly CANNOT check purity and tracking outdoors. Like changing the oil on a running engine.

Check the wiki, the second pic.
He has to stop speaking in unfinished sentences...most annoying

Dave Blane how so?
he's probably high on drugs...he didnt even realized its an all tube color tv
My family bought an RCA set EXACTLY like this one in Summer 1963.
+andrez03 More like in the Summer of 69
+Composite guy No; CTC 12 was made in 1962/63.
Yes, but i was referring to the song.
