I'll just tell you my experience brother.
I got a very high GT score on my ASFAB or whatever test they did almost two decades ago. When I was in basic, the first 10-12 roster numbers of the platoon were 11C and we were told it was because the Army needed that number of mortars and we had the highest GT scores of the platoon. It may have been a lie, but I believed it because of my high GT score.
On another note. When we were fighting in Iraq in 2003-2004 we kept being used as if we were 11B by kicking in doors and clearing buildings. Our commander's didn't even think about using us as mortars until our last month of our deployment, and it ended up being the best use of us. Less exciting for us... but way more effective on the enemy.
I've heard the same thing on both matters. Ive been told that they select Mortarmen out of the recruits with the highest GT scores also. Because they figure they'll have a better chance understanding Mortars and passing the Mortar exam. I have a higher GT score then lots of people in the Infantry lol 101 gt score, 55 asvab. Not really high but not really low. And ye I'm deployed right now as a Bravo. I've always been told by every 11c that when you get deployed, even if you have your mortar systems. We will always be used as 11B. Ye we got that high angle hell, 120s and 81s. Ain't no one want to mess with that haha. God bless you brotha!!! When I went to Benning in 2018, it had the most recruits there ever in History. The overcrowding was crazy. Most basic training companies had around 300 recruits. My company had 300 recruits , and around 160 past.
I was part of a heavy mortar platoon. Now I'm part of the line so I'm using 60s.
we had a guy in my mortar platoon that had a gt score of 88
Same experience for me.
To be a 11C you have to score at least 90 in the combat (CO) aptitude area of the ASVAB, The subtests for CO aptitude include arithmetic reasoning (AR), Coding Speed (CS), Auto and Shop Information (AS) and Mechanical Comprehension (MC), my son was just told he is an 11C so I did my research.
I got a 89 so that means I’ll be a bravo ??
I'm shipping out in late Dec. so thank you for this valuable info.
The career counselor told me it was voluntary, that was wrong lol. After reception, they called out our names and told us we were going to be 11c.
I'm National Guard and I chose 11B. I leave on October 5th to Fort Benning. Hopefully all goes well. Thanks for the informative video
Why didn't you go active army ? Instead of reserves
Going to benning In January 11x hoping to be 11b either way glad to serve my nation
What day man? I go 19JAN
Hopefully in get 11 Bravo. Going by March Apirl
Yeeee that's what I like to hear. We all hope to be 11B. But only the small few become Mortarmen. Being an 11C , no lie you will do a lot more work then 11B and have 5X the responsibilities. Say a prayer because unless your Naty Guard it's completely Random.
Have fun no matter what happens.
How was a AIT
B Series I leave in March
Good video man, there’s not many of us out there. I’ve only been in for a year. Same thing happened to us at 30th, the night we arrived they said all of us were going to be 11C’s. National Guard got to pick their MOS. It is true that we carried more weight durning basic. Life isn’t bad after basic, we do gun drills with the 60s, and are pretty much done by 1400. What company were you with in basic?
Delta 1-19
Ah I just graduated Dco 119 6 weeks ago
Miami boys! Same story with me. From Miami and a chuck 🤜🏽
Hey man,
I’m getting shipped out in June to Fort Benning. I was going to ask you...as an 11C do we have a lot of marchs? How much does our ruck sack weigh? Any tips to be successful?
You'll have the same amount of Rucks as 11Bs. But the rucks March's will be completely different. In bootcamp for 11C we dont get issued slings for the Light Machine Guns, The 11Bs do. So who ever has the light machine gun will be carrying about a 45lb rucksack and if that person has the 240B then it's a extra 28lbs plus his m4. The 240B weighs about 27 to 28lbs. You'll have to carry that in your hands or how ever you can. The 249 weighs about 17 to 18lbs. Plus 11C carry the Mortar equipment, which individual parts to that is an extra 20 to 30lbs. Everyone get issued an M4 in boot, and a sling for the M4. If you get issued a light machine gun 249 or 240, you will also be responsible for your m4.
My tip on being successful in bootcamp is dont try to stand out, dont do anything stupid to stand out infront of people. Find some good friends, I couldn't have made it through Bootcamp without my best friends, I made like 3 best friends in Bootcamp, and had lots of other friends as well, but I was always with 3 guys especially, and thank God for them. I still would have probably passed but it would of been a lot tougher to do without them. Everyone will be at each others throat eventually, so it's best to smooth things out, stay off the lime light and dont bother people. Just during PT always give 150%, and do good on the PT test. When your getting smoked always give it your all, you'll just be getting stronger. Just do as your told, make sure your prepared for w.e. activities your going to do, and dont do anything your not supposed ( serious things ). I was late to formation a lot, and my uniform was always messy, either I paid for it, my platoon or the Company. Stay stretching when your not doing anything, relax when you have that little time off. Do those things and you'll be set. Stay Positive, focused, dont be cocky, and give it all you got.
Dark Soulja3323 thank you very much for all the tips. It is really helpful. I’m going to do my best and learn as much as I can.
John Barber yo I’m going June 29th as an infantry
John Barber I’m going to meps in June 28 and I’ll ship to basic in June 29th
11x Fort Benning in the begging of July💪🏼
I leave July 22nd
Levi Pritchett I actually leave the 23rd, anyways I’ll see you there brotha!
Floyd Ito dope, see you there, my last name is Pennington
Levi Pritchett bet, mine is Mejarito. ik it’s a weird one lol
I leave September 30
Do you guy learn how to clear rooms as a 11c? Or is your main focus on motors? Bcuz the guard is offering 11c or 19d. I just need a little more understand of 11c from someone that is one. 11bravo isn’t an option.
Ye we do like 1 week of clearing rooms, 11 Bs do 2 weeks of it. It all depends on your drill Sergeants.
I'm not sure what 19d is. But Being a Mortarman is not for the weak hearted. A lot of people hate because we do twice as much work as 11Bs
19d is cavalry scout. So what’s a typical day for a 11charlie?
Since you been in have you been learning how to clear rooms or the main focus is motors?
I was 11C and in combat we ended up doing 11B for 11 of the 12 months. When we are just training and aren't in combat we mostly mess with mortars.
My brother was a 19D Cav scout. He was extremely proud of it. Basically they are supposed to do the reconnaissance for the tankers and they have some rivalry with them and are called "crunchies" by tankers.
One thing I must say is with my unit, we ended up having some Tankers and Cav Scouts sprinkled around inside our Infantry unit. In combat they never got the CIB award and they were part of the reason for the CAB award being invented out of fairness. Part of this was because we were the first Stryker Brigade and were considered experimental... So they were trying to figure out what to do.
I'm going to be a U.S.Marine Recon in 2024
Hell yeah proud 11c here
Hell ye.
So I had a couple questions, are you still in the Army, also I'm thinking about joining. But sure if they'd accept me because I'm 30 year's old. Gonna be turning 31 in Feb.
Ya im still in, im pretty hurt right now. My leg is messed up. Of course they'd accept you. The age limit is 34 yrs old, and special forces age limit is 36, ranger battalion is 34, and Delta force is 36.
Which way you facing ? Towards the sandwiches?
Yeee I went in through the right door lol. It’s all random though.... you can probably be selected going through the left ones as well. Completely random unless you don’t have the 11x contract.
Lol sucked
Hey if i pick a 11b contract, will i still become an 11c if i go through the 11c door?
There is no 11c door. That's just the way I was picked for being a Infantry/ Mortarmen. Fort Benning was seriously overcrowded when I went there. You should ask your recruiter if theres any chance of you becoming a Mortarman and how to avoid becoming one if there is a way to avoid it. Because it is picked random unless you are national Guard which doesn't make sense.
That wasn't how they picked it for me. That was how they did it for him. A contract is a contract... so NO
Crylux no such thing as a 11c door
I’m 11C when I left 30th I got told 20minutes before I left 30th I was a Charlie so I have no idea how that works I’m on HBL right now training for 11c I was a 11b the 10 days I was at 30th so I have no idea
Facts bro
Option 3: go FISTER and slay bodies with a radio
I think they are pretty cool. I like Fisters. We def need those foreword observers.
My son is at 30ag right now and was picked to be 11C and he's not happy about it lol
Did he go through the doors on the right?
@@luke3542 I have no idea. He's been in a year now and loves being a Charlie. He laughs at his upset he was
Hey bro it says 11X on my contract and I'm worried about getting 11C lol I would rather be 11B but if it's that random then it legit cannot be guaranteed
No it's not guaranteed.... you could be either.
@@DarkSoulja3323 training is 16weeks thought it was 22 due to new changes
When you shipping out?
I leave on the 12th
@@WiiR3d0000 I'm on the 12th aswell
This is 11x right?
Yes this is the Infantry contract 11X
hi, does they teach you hand to hand combat ?
Yes, it's very little though. They teach you the basics. But now in the 22 week basic cycle I heard they teach you a lot more.
@@DarkSoulja3323 i thought for 11 bravo is 14 weeks
305 baby!!!!
Throw it up!!!! 305 Dade County!!
if i don’t get 11b i’m going to be pissed no offense to any 11c i just really want to be 11b
None taken brother. Theres so many issues the Army needs to take up with being a Charlie. I would say 85% people never heard of Infantry Mortarmen, and 95% have no clue they'll be randomly selected while into basic. Except if your natty guard. You'll do twice the work, lift heavy ass shit, stay at work twice as long, and twice the work. If you become a high ranking Sergeant you'll be chillin as a Charlie. If not, you'll be like a little slave lol. Sucks.
Dark Soulja3323 philly damn either way i will take pride in whatever i get
@@ohez5661 exacly brotha. Atleast as a Charlie, you can take pride knowing no one will outwork you on base. And everyone knows it lol. I got deployed as a Bravo, which is usually what happens with Charlies. Like I said twice the work. I take pride in it also.
Dark Soulja3323 philly thank you bro!
i wanna be an 11C so bad also get an option 40
So go to the left door got it
