What adaptor are you using to for the Pentax? I have the 50 1.4 and would like to use it on my Sl

I use a cheap dumb adapter. The brand is Fotasy. I have a ton of cheap adapters and they all work fine. Just make sure the lens is really K mount, since there are a couple of variations of the mount that don't work with a true K adapter. I found out after a macro lens I bought was listed as K mount but was really a slightly different version of it.

I LOVE the colors in this video. Do you sell presets/LUTS?

Nope. It's just a simple edit, and I don't think I even tried to color correct. I just dialed in the temperature of my light.

Would be cool to know what you think about the sl vs xh1... I'm on the fuji and also have the L mount panasonic s1. Thinking of dropping the fuji entirely...

Fuji is such a good compromise it can be a hard system to leave. Not the best stills, but good enough, same with video, although the XT3/4 are incredible video systems.
It all really depends on what you need. I had the H1 for about a year, and moved up to the XT3, and as far as video goes, its been great. The SL beats the H1 in stills, the video is good, but no Log as far as I'm concerned. The lens selection is also pretty bad as of now. As for IBIS, the H1 is great when paired with an OIS lens, but Fuji's IBIS is about stills and always acts a little funny in video mode. I would personally go with the SL over the H1, unless work were a concern.
I work in bad/ low light, with very limited time. I have to roll with what I have, unless I can set up my own lights. Fuji's F-Log is really good and simple for grading and maintains decent color with low light. Stills are always gonna cost your at least a stop of light. Plus fuji files still don't work perfectly with lightroom.
When you add the S1 to the mix, Id go with that for sure. The IBIS is supposed to be great, and the video features are stellar. The main issue if the AF system. Fuji is still better than Panasonic. I plan to get rid of fuji altogether and grab an S1R, and a BMPCC-6K and solve all my problems. This is because I foresee pro quality video and heavy grading becoming an issue for me in the future.
If weight is your concern, Fuji is hard to beat. If you want a minimal kit with good glass, and really good video options, You'll be back to Fuji at some point. For instance if Fuji were smart, they'd let you get up to 6K ProRes+ Raw out to USB-C in the XH2. Their Cine-4K 400mbps/ All-I is already excellent.
...and then there's Canon's R system with the second generation of bodies being absolutely amazing. But I'm going all in on the L mount because it lets me stick with Leica, and Leica is love. 2 systems, 1 mount + affordable Sigma options.

@@oh_aces thanks!! Video isn't a concern for me. Just a nice to have.. I rented a leica Q out of curiocity recently and noticed that color and low light are far superior than anything I ever had on Fuji for stills (xh1/xt3), but I'm not sure whether that's partially due to lens rendering or if it's sensor/software combo. I think I'll have to rent the SL to see if it's similar with other lenses.

@@klarion I had the Q, and it is very much a full kit all by itself. Best travel/ street option by far. I even shot it for work with flash and it was such a simple setup.
The video feature and usability was very strange and it never did what I wanted it to on that front.
I used the hell out of it, and it's a kit that gets you addicted to shooting.
There's nothing special about that sensor, it's the lens. They built that camera around that lens and it's a magic combination.
It's a wonderful solution to GAS, but I like to keep moving and needed to invest in an M system and work gear. That is one system I miss for sure.

@@oh_aces spoke too soon. I had to video record some live classical music for work and tried to use the s1 as is, except that it has a - 12db gain floor and the ambient noise is too loud while live instruments overload internal mics so... Back to fuji. 😂

DN means Digital Native. The DN version of the 85 is half the weight of its DSLR predecessor and looks to be interesting. I bought a second SL a few months ago. Very happy so far. For hiking I bought a 24-105 instead of the Sigma. In hindsight I’m glad I didn’t know about the sigma I would have been torn as it looks great. The 24-105 stabilisation is OK but disappointing relative to my Fuji, IQ good to excellent if used with a tripod. I’ve also been shooting with adapted glass, specifically a pre Pentax Asahi Takuma 85 f1.8 from 1960, passed down from my Grandfather and has sat in a draw at my dads since 1970! My direction of travel is towards Voigtlander to adapt M versions, specifically the 50mm f1.2 which should make for a more compact configuration. Could work for you maybe? Have fun, look forward to a video where you talk through some of your shots.

That's how we get our best lenses, isn't it?
I have that lens in 55mm. And I don't remember how I came to have it. It's a wonderful lens, and those old Pentax slip on lens caps are still the best and safest types of lens caps I've ever owned.

why dont u test the af speed?

    • @oh_aces
      @oh_aces  4 года назад

Mostly because I'm lazy. Can't really share work shots yet. But it seemed fine in decent light. I did have one or two issues with back focus, but that could have also been my fault.
I don't think studio or setup type tests mean anything to most people. I think an overall feeling, and level of satisfaction I get from using it in real life situations is what's going to mean anything.
