      The explanation at 2:08 does show how Julia uses the sunlight and scene to create better light and a feeling of more depth. Try experimenting with the light and subject to background distance to make photos look less flat and a bit more 'magical.'

      As I am interested in photographing people - your channel and your videos have been top of mind!
      What I enjoy that I find different in a good way is the storytelling, behind the scenes and femininity of your videos.
      And what makes your videos exceptional is that you provide just enough technical details AND visual examples.
      Some channels can get too technical (and I am a man's man and enjoy technical reviews!)
      I am newly into photography and videography.
      I bought my Panasonic Lumix S5 I with a 35mm f/1.8 prime lens and the 20-60 f/3.5-5.6 kit lens as a bundle
      About a year later I added the Panasonic Lumix S5 II X with a 50mm f/1.8 prime.
      So I guess Panasonic know what to bundle!
      They have watched your channel!
      Once again thanks!

    24-70 is fantastic in fast paced environments where every minute counts that swapping glass is time consuming.
    Also for beginners, with a 24-70, people can become more proficient with each focal length and understand each does to the image.

    • @juliatrotti
      @juliatrotti  Год назад +3

      Yep, I agree! I like that it's a pretty cost effective way to spend time with lots of focal lengths to learn what you like the best. I used to shoot on a 50mm and 24-70mm lens, that was my WHOLE camera bag. But the zoom lens helped me realised I love wider focal lengths. I don't think I would have been brave enough to drop the $$ on a 35 without testing it out on the 24-70 beforehand!

    I shoot on the Sony A7iv & have been eying a 24-70mm since I’m in the wedding industry. I have a 50mm G master that I love & an 85mm 1.4 but having 1 camera body it isn’t ideal. I also was curious if you could if you haven’t yet do a video on manual white balance. I usually just select 5600k or shade/cloudy depending on the lighting scenario but sometimes even though I’m shooting RAW the skin tones are hard to correct in post & I want to nail it in camera 🤍

    On 35mm, how does this lens compare with the newer RF35mm F1.4 VCM? which lens do. you like better at this focal point? I'm debating whether I get the newer lens or get this one that could be more versatile.

  • @m11kan
    @m11kan Год назад

    I enjoy shots taken with a wider perspective, typically between 24-35mm, which capture a glimpse of trees or the surrounding environment, especially when the setting isn't overly bustling. This adds depth by showcasing more of the location instead of solely focusing on the model. These shots tend to maintain clarity without excessive distortion compared to even wider lenses. Conversely, using a 70mm lens from up close can feel a bit restrictive.
    Nonetheless, great video-thanks again! ☺ By the way, do you usually shoot wide open or prefer to close down the aperture a bit for your shots?

    Hi, @juliatrotti! Beautiful photos as always! Do you use zooms for your wedding photography at all? It seems like it might be worth it for the flexibility, but also a challenge in venues that aren't necessarily lit well. Sometimes, I take a zoom with me instead of primes if I don't think that I'm going to be doing any portraits. But then, somehow, I always wind up doing portraits. ;-)
    How did you like the Samsung? I haven't shot with that one. Would you consider it a good alternative to the 24-70 GM II?

  • @michaelbell75
    @michaelbell75 Год назад

    These photos are great! Perfect mix of shallow DOF while still having some background for perspective. Ive been pretty much a prime only shooter the entire 20 years Ive been shooting professionally, but that has changed. My main lens recently is the Sigma 28-70 2.8 for my S5II, I sold my 50 1.8 and dont miss it. Just want to pick up the new Sigma 70-200 2.8 "sports" lens and I'll be just fine with the two zooms. F/2.8-f/4 is more than enough DOF on a FF camera IMO. I am not a fan of the shoot everything wide open at f/1.2 or 1.4 and obliterate the background look. It's amateur looking IMO and you won't ever see it in any professional fashion magazine, because the top notch pro portrait shooters have never done that, it's a RUclips trend. These are some of your best shots IMO 😊

    Really good one! Do you think 24-70mm is unflattering or has a big distortion compared to 50 or 85mm? I see your photos are amazing but I do wonder how is 24-70mm lens for regular ladies (not models or 60-90-60) I mean when the len is set to 50 or 70mm..
