Agreed. I'll be honest when I rode the Special for another review I REALLY liked it which surprised me. That said it's a tough sell for me at 15. 12500 would be the top.
I agree HD would kill the imports in volume sales if this was priced more like an entry level bike. It would set the hook for future sales when an upgrade to an M8 is is someone’s plans.
Fully agree and I cant figure out why brands like Kawasaki offer very similar for so much less! Indian has increased prices too. If they could bring it down to like $12.5 it would be cool.
have to agree if you’re looking at one of these, it’s an easy choice to pick nightster S for $1,500 more. price separation probably should be a little wider, with nightster coming in a little lower.
Got a regular nightster last week as my first bike and I like the look and style of the regular nightster way more. I wouldn't use many of the features of the nightster S anyways so I'm happy with the standard one
The MSRP sounds Okay until you start adding thousands of junk fees until you are over 20k. Harley Davidson dealership old school car dealer tactics. doc fee, setup fee, surcharge, freight, top off tank with gas fee, paint protection, pinstriping, low jack, alarm system, lot rot prevention fee, fee to jump start dead battery on showroom floor and miscellaneous fees. Some registration and title fees and sales tax and fees for filing.
I might be extremely dumb but if i can make it work financially (I'd prefer to buy a bike outright) I might make a Nightster S my first bike sometime in the future 🤔 I really dig the look and with a nice bar on the back itd be my style..
I'd like to get a nightster but the bikers I know are going to Indian because of the way they were treated by the dealership. I don't trust any dealership that don't post the $ price!!!
You forgot about the Handlebar Risers . I looked at the Nightster last year was disappointed it did not have the features I wanted . When I seen the Nightster Special was released with all those features I wanted I ordered one 2 days later . Have clocked up over 6000km already. Did 2000km trip in 2 days . In Australia they have dropped the Nightster Model already can only buy the Nightster Special here now. People complain about the pricing and say why buy a Nightster Special when a 114 Street bob is same price . Simple the Nightster Special will out run, out brake & out corner the 114 Street bob and has far more tech on it .
Dang it. And for me thats a big one. Good catch. Now it's going to bug me that I didn't point that out. People give the Nightster models and the Sportster S a hard time but they really do preform great. I wish the Sportster S was more like the FTR but I get why they didn't do that.
@Throttle Blip Harley Davidson have hurt themselves which stupid mistakes on releasing the Sportster S , Nightster and Nightster Special . I know so many people who wanted the Bronx . Accessories for them are in short supply and take up to 3 months wait . Not listed for 2023 model but listed for 2022 model . Is the bike .l have spent $5000 on Accessories that Harleys website says that will not fit yet fit perfectly. Someone is not doing their job . I have upset so many so many CVO owners who have done engine modifications that everytime they look in their mirrors l am still there. They are calling it the Pocket Rocket .

@dustinhall4035 l have the S&S Slip on muffler works ok . There is videos on my channel about the modifications on my bike . Sounds better now that we removed the cat
Nightster S is the same price as the Sportster S. Tech is the same. I can't see a reason to buy either Nightster over the Sportster S. The Nightster needs to be about $10.5k and the S about $12k to make either of them worth buying instead of upgrading. You can get the Softail Standard for less than the Nightster S.
@@anthonyrogers2579 when I posted this comment the sportster s hadn't jumped up in price and the Nightster hadn't dropped in price. So no the sportster s wasn't 2.5k more. Either way the softail standard is a better cruiser and all around bike than either "sportster".
I'm OLD and been riding since the 60's and feel I don't need all the gizmos of the Hightster S. Currently I own a HD Tri-GLide Ultra due to my wife's many health issues. On the Tri-Glide I never use the GPS, Radio, or blue tooth, I just ride. The only option on the Nightster S has that the Nightster doesn't have that I would miss is cruise control. I guess the crusie control has spoiled me. I would probably go with the Nightster and then add the travel's package (I don't recall the proper name for the package) but it cost around $2300.00 which gives you the windshield, passenger seat and pegs, saddlebags and a pssenger backrest. I would also add a luggage rack and a round top bag for the rack. I'm old and don't bend over as well asI use to so saddlebags might hold a lot of stuff, the top bag is handier. I guess the top trunk on the Tri-Glide has spoiled me once again.
I only hope that these new digital displays are also waterproof! Harley hasn't managed to build waterproof analogue speedometers in recent years. Somehow almost everyone has problems with displays fogged up from the inside.
I really wish on their newer engines they'd have made them look like air cooled vtwins, even if the heat sink fins were fake just for looks. There is just something cool about the look, and not so damn ugly like the new engines are. Besides that, the Nighster S is a nice bike.... if it looked slightly better, like the engine, I'd probably get one. The ugly exhaust I could fix myself, but can't do much with the engine.
I like the S, but I would take the seat and passenger pegs off. Plus maybe that fairing. I like the stripped down version best, but knowing I had the upgrades wouldn't hurt either.

Is it possible to get the display and its features on the special onto the 2022 nightster, also I just wanted to add I think the overall look of the 2022 is far better than the 23 or the 24 especially the tank or should I say fake tank and the front end
Hi. My name is Fabio Pelegrini. I'm from Brazil, live in São Paulo. I don't know how to ride a motorcycle, but I'm thinking of buying a HD. I'm in doubt between the Low Rider S and Nightster models. What do you think is the best bike? Thanks!
Most of you have it backwards, the Special is a better bike than Harley’s that cost $5,000 more. My 2023 Special is an amazing bike, the first true sportbike for H-D. I can’t believe they sell it for the low price they’re going for. And if you missed the 2023 at $14,999 the 2024 MSRP dropped down to $13,499 and that’s for the Special. Killer deal.
I think the Nightster demonstrates what traditional buyers dislike about the "new" Harleys. The pieces that make up the bike are of the mass produced "stamped" variety instead of the heavy, classy, well-made piece look of the traditional bikes. Harley has added a premium price to a bike that is not that premium. I was in a dealers showroom today and they had a Nightster S near two left over 48s. It looked kinda nice. The difference was profound, though. I like tech and Harley needs some more, but the dealer told me the new ones aren't selling and I am not surprised. Harley is a premium bike, anything else is a sham. The Sportster has always been a smaller Harley that is every bit a Harley. It is a bike that introduces Harley quality, style and type to customers used to Japanese bikes. While Japan has always produced very fine bikes, they represent a different market sphere that Harley should not compete in. IMHO the Motor Company does not have the financial resources nor the market cache to compete long in that realm. Why HD can't see that the public wants a more heavily updated traditional American Harley style? That could justify a higher price. The design could be very modern, but it must have obvious and strikingly evident high quality. The Pan America was probably a right move, but that is the only one. The reason they went this route may have to do with global market economics and ESG so a "stamped" world bike is it for now. 😷
Last time I was in a HD dealership, they wanted $5K over MSRP. THAT is why they are not selling, and they are not priced competitively. These will the V-Rod 2.0. Not priced and marketed appropriately, they don't sell, then the are discontinued. The paint schemes are atrocious. That Rainbow graphic looks horrible. They picked the worse shade of yellow imaginable and the blue is meh.
FYI HD has some magnetic bolt covers for the leftover bag hardware. I like that metal velocity stack, nice windscreen. Those mirrors are sweet😎 new sub
Both are ugly as sin. The old 48 looks way more polished and I personally would take the 48, not even close. If they built a 48 but with a 4 gallon tank with the peanut shape I would probably have bought one. I once had a Buell XB12 Super TT and it’s a great engine the air cooled sportster . Don’t get me wrong I like water cooled engines and have ridden the PA at Timms when the HD rig was there. Great motor. I also owned a 2008 Night Rod Special that was purchased new at Timms so I like water cooled engines but these are just too expensive and too ugly. I think also the engines would look way better being black.
I really want the nightster but at these prices im limited to the pre-owned market for another bike. It's ok because there are plenty of Roadsters out there to be had but unfortunately Harley will also be pushing potential Sportster buyers into the Japanese middleweight naked sport bike market xsr/mt09/z900 etc. Nothing like ripping through the twisties on a sporty v-twin though!!
If I had to choose it would be the S. Just for the extra stuff. Looks like heated grips also? I figured you would have had a vlog out on the rumored new Streetglide & RoadGlide fairing pictures circulating online.
