I absolutely love Neocolor II crayons - they are heavily pigmented - I often use them more like buttery colored pencils - they especially cool on black drawing paper - I have used them w/ H2O and then added oil pastel in layers on top - the oil pastels are soluble in mineral spirits, but the wax based NCII color underneath remains intact since it is water soluble only : )
I've seen these at my local art store at least 10 times and I always just walk right by them....🥴 I honestly didn't realize how pigmented they are. Thanks so much for showing these! Next time I'm going to pick up a set.
I watched this yesterday, but couldn't comment at the time (I was eating dinner!). I think the way that you swatched these was great! It really did show these Neocolour II's well. These are still in my Jackson's basket, because I'm sticking to a rigid No-Buy until at least the end of the year, but it isn't easy with lovely work like this!!!
Cobalt Blue! I was really excited to see someone who started with the 30 count set and added miscellaneous ones to it as that is exactly how I started😊. Also loved your approach to swatching them, great fun!
reminds me of a rainbow giraffe i love neo ii im interested in the ones now, i saw a lady using then with the caran ache blender an it too was magic.... i love the olives and periwinkle
These seem so much fun! I already have so many ideas on how to use these and I love how you make your swatches look fun (why boring squares if you can make it flowy right?:)! I am pretty new to this youtube journey and this inspired me to create something colourful!
Thank you, Irene! It's always nice to meet other artists at the beginning of their youtube journey. Your videos are fantastic! And I'm so happy I inspired you with these swatches. ❤
Ooh, just saying - what a clever idea to use that neurologic art as a way to swatch! I'm going to do that in the future! Although this looks good too. I LOVE my neocolors! Thought I infinitely prefer the Is, and the IIs I have I almost always use dry. I just don't understand the popularity of the IIs. But then, I don't generally like water-soluble products, like pencils, etc. I find the color pay off is nowhere near as good as using actual paint. If you love them, more power to you! But I don't get it, and to be honest, I see a ton of swatching reviews, but not many videos of people actually making art with them. I'd love to see you make something with them!
That's awesome feedback Rita, and you're right I see more swatching than art (although I do see them used in mixed media a fair bit). I'll have to come up with a purely neocolor II painting to see what they can really do. I actually just discovered my mom had an old set of Neocolor I's too, so I'll have to give those a try too.
Fun way to swatch. I love my Neocolor IIs.

Thank you!!
I have these, love them. What paper r using?
Hey thank you! I used the Canson Moulin du Roy Hotpress watercolor paper, since I figured the smooth texture would be nice with the Neocolors. :)
Hello, FYI, the subtitles appear all at once at your very first sentence and then nothing.
Beautiful. Music is really annoying though
