Glenn Campbell was a guitar virtuoso and member of the Wrecking Crew. A legend that had the chops to bring it once more at the T in 2008. I well up in sadness at his loss but this dude was the absolute real deal. God Bless Glenn and God Speed.
It actually was. I had the Brainstew cd single from 96, and it was a demo at the time. That version is more similar to this one, than the 97 one that ended up on Nimrod
That was a brilliant version of this song! I've never heard Glen sing it before....it would have been a great original hit for him too...great song, greatly written, greatly performed by Glen. ♥
Absolutely brilliant cover version. Glen Campbell - artiste extraordinaire - simply the best in my eyes always. Musical talent beyond belief. Maestro guitarist - a privilege to watch a master at work with anything he ever did musically. Perfection! Always remembered and what a legacy he left us with. Thanks for the brilliance Glen. X
That's a real punkrock legend on guitar, Todd Youth from Warzone, Murphy's Law, D-generation and many more. I imagine Green Day must feel honored. Crazy but not insane!
Did you notice where he’s playing, at the Troubadour. A 20 something band wrote a song in 1997 reflecting on time/age sung by a singer born in 1936. Well done
Yes, I have listened to the whole concert. There were several places that he forgot what to do next but it only took a second to recover . He also got his daughter’s names mixed up . He was a great entertainer . One of the greatest guitarist in history, just ask Eric Clapton .
Another turning point, a fork stuck in the road Time grabs you by the wrist Directs you where to go So make the beat of this test And don't ask why It's not a question but a lesson learned in time It's something unpredictable But in the end is right I hope you had the time of your life So take the photographs and still frames in your mind Hang it on a shelf of good health and good time Tattoos of memories and dead skin on trial For what it's worth it was worth all the while It's something unpredictable But in the end is right I hope you had the time of your life It's something unpredictable But in the end is right I hope you had the time of your life It's something unpredictable But in the end is right I hope you had the time of your life
I am a Green Day snob, and specifically a snob about This song, and This is the second best version of this song live I’ve ever seen. Yes, brilliant. The first best is ruclips.net/video/sJhrEOffqR0/видео.html . Billy Joe actually plays almost all of the notes on the original recording WITH the correct string ensemble! I JUST DISCOVERED that version along with this brilliant Glen Campbell version.
Modern music if you want to actually describe it as that finds me in the same place as yourself regarding the sounds of the present, truly awful stuff and I'm commenting from the UK, pretty sure it is the same crap wherever you are, usa?, TV show so called talent shows and the arseholes judging have killed live music
I love it when these artists do this. Dirty heads did Joe Walsh. Glen Campbell is doing Green Day, this is awesome. I can't stand it when I hear that stupid ass cliche "oh they shouldn't have redid it or the original was better" Fucking awesome!
The Youth of today would probably appreciate this Beautiful rendition by Joe if he was just wearing a pair of Pants writhing round on stage Lipsincing to it

Great version…Glen sings this beautifully…😍
He makes it sound like it should have been a country song all along.
It actually was. I had the Brainstew cd single from 96, and it was a demo at the time. That version is more similar to this one, than the 97 one that ended up on Nimrod
@@dawnpatrol700 Didn't know that. Found the song you were talking about. Every day is a school day.
@@indiekid19872everyday is a school day…I like that.
Omg!! His voice and style were so perfect for this. It is INCREDIBLE😳
The man could sing anything
Maybe not rap
Green Day wrote one of the century's greatest songs. And Glenn performed the best version of it.
Great cover. I liked the way he added the upbeat tempo to a great song by Green Day. Love both the original and Glen's cover.

Love this song and the Way Glen Campbell sing it, he may be gone but he will always remain gentle on my mind.
Thank you for responding to my comment, and no you did not infringe on my privacy. Hope you have a wonderful day.

The one and only. Always loved him.
SWEET !!! Some songs really do transcend genre.
Legend of all legends. I miss Glen so much it hurts.
Beautiful country music version
He can make any song sound good like Elvis
Stunningly beautiful.
No one comes close to Glen! He feels the song and makes it his own xx
This is awesome!!!
When you have it, you have it, and Glenn had it.
I love Green Day’s version, but this floored me.
One of the greatest songs of all time ❤️
That man could surely play the guitar..what a picker..Glen Campbell.🌠💐🎊
What a Great Country Music Legend Glen Campbell Is.
Thanks for clarifying
‘🎈🎭 ‘Glen Campbell ‘🎶Master Musician !!!🥊🥊🇺🇸🍇🎵✌🏼😃
Legend.
The album arrived this morning, 7/23, and I have listen to it three times and it is just after noon. Simply wonderful, wonderful work.
His voice was amazing still at this age. A total legend.
I'm a huge fan of Glen Campbell and I didn't even know he did this song live. I still play Wichita lineman over and over. I miss him.

Crazy awesome!!!!
Beautiful
Great tribute. Great songs are great songs no matter what generation. But damn, can Billie write some real thought-provoking classics!
It's country?
I loved it❤
Man.... I miss Glenn.
Even more impressive when you consider he was probably in the very early stages of Alzheimer's. He was officially diagnosed in 2010.
Yes, I have listened to the whole concert. There were several places that he forgot what to do next but it only took a second to recover . He also got his daughter’s names mixed up . He was a great entertainer . One of the greatest guitarist in history, just ask Eric Clapton .
The human brain is an amazing thing.
One of my favorite songs ever. Sung by my favorite musician ever

The best!
Glen doing a little (Green Day) perfection! Billie Armstrong wrote that song in 1993 !
Love it!
Lol I just found out he did a cover of this song. This is amazing.
Legend!
I miss him so
Simple the BEST!
Amazing
Thank you Glen Campbell and Billy Joe Armstrong!
Another turning point, a fork stuck in the road
Time grabs you by the wrist
Directs you where to go
So make the beat of this test
And don't ask why
It's not a question but a lesson learned in time
It's something unpredictable
But in the end is right
I hope you had the time of your life
So take the photographs and still frames in your mind
Hang it on a shelf of good health and good time
Tattoos of memories and dead skin on trial
For what it's worth it was worth all the while
It's something unpredictable
But in the end is right
I hope you had the time of your life
It's something unpredictable
But in the end is right
I hope you had the time of your life
It's something unpredictable
But in the end is right
I hope you had the time of your life
Legend
Is that Bob weir on acoustic?
❤❤❤
I agree that this is thought producing. I don't have anymore to say.
I also love the Rhinestone Cowboy video Rikki and Daz feat Glen Campbell...a great alternative version! Check it out
While listening to this song ... I realized that he was singing this to himself.
Fuckin awesome

greeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeen day
He did a great version of this song. It just seems strange with him not having a guitar in his hand.
He must have felt absolutely naked!
With the exception of Elvis … Glen is a close second …..
"Twangy Guitar Country Solo" in the captions
THATS A MANDOLIN
Now that's when country music was a good country rock beat . my god just look at the crap we got today for music.👍

@@ferm8103 man you are absolutely right.. I agree with you. I'm 64 years old. And I remember how good music was back then.
Is that Glen's son playing the guitar to the left ?
Yes..that is Shannon

Anthrax did Joe Jackson's Got the Time.

He was better when he was older and then Alzheimer's had to silence him
